The frequent bannings are a little gay
06-27-2013, 07:37 PM
I posted a lot when I first got here. Have hardly posted at all the past few weeks. I read the exhortation to "senior members" to be on the lookout for trolls, but it seems to me that the board is only interested in certain types of bad behavior. We ignore the most common type of troll on this particular board - the uber-confident guys who really don't know what they are talking about. Then again, I guess if Roosh tackled that, he'd have no board left!
Anyway, the frequent bannings remind me of women's sites - Jezebel, feministing.com, etc - where anyone who voices a view that doesn't coincide with the world view of the site admins is banned. The better men's sites do zero banning - they allow all comment. Tom Leykis is an example - you can call his show or bang away on his blog with some real over-the-top stuff, or trash his show for that matter, and he's thick skinned enough to tear you apart with his arguments; he doesn't feel the need to "ban" everyone who disagrees with him or calls him a name.
I expected better of a board bearing Roosh's name. I hope this evolves to the free-wheeling marketplace of IDEAS that it could be.

I find that I agree with most bans and the ones I don't agree with I give the benefit of the doubt to the mods. Later I find out the ban was justified as to the rules of the board.
The truth is, in a place where most men do not see the type of success with women quickly enough, and the fact that the guys on the other side of the spectrum are getting women, the middle ground guys that are still fighting for "identity" or whatever are more inclined to try and make a mark or have a meltdown. It's like the guy who can't get past blue belt and never shows up again.
This post included.
Although I think you bring up a valid concern.
What I would like to see happen is more temporary bans and less permanent ones.
Some guys were cool they just had moments of indiscretion.
The trouble is that this place is getting so massive that the work for the mods probably doesn't allow much leniency.
I wouldn't blame tuthmosis for having his own meltdown.
Maybe a probationary period for new members or previously banned members that comeback after a petition. I don't know.
You haven't been around very long and to my knowledge, haven't contributed very much, it's not really your place to start critiquing he methods when you are probably ignorant of other things.
Try dropping a data sheet or some believable lay reports.

So you start a "gay" thread? This could have been solved with a PM to Roosh. He doesn't tend to ban often or unjustly.
I would however enjoy seeing a Tuthosis meltdown. Or an Athlone meltdown.

I'm calling for leniency with Dextor Morgan.
Show us why it would be "gay" for you to be banned.
Show us these pearls of wisdom you possess.
Show us this is really not the rvf suicide by cops routine we see.

Mayweather never ducked Canelo. Before you get banned, I just wanted to clear that up with you.

If your main concern is that some trolls have been grandfathered in, why not just use the ignore function? And the immediate bans of new members seem to generally seem to fall on obvious trolls so I'm not seeing the issue.

I know, I was thinking of starting a "best threads that were locked thread"
But then I didn't want to get in trouble..

"Anyway, the frequent bannings remind me of women's sites - Jezebel, feministing.com, etc - where anyone who voices a view that doesn't coincide with the world view of the site admins is banned."
Apples to oranges. This is a forum, not a blog like Jezebel so the comparison doesn't hold. This forum is specifically designed for men of a certain mindset to confer without the complications of women or trolls coming in an hijacking threads, etc.
I would agree with this opinion if women, trolls or dissenting opinions were frequently banned on either the Roosh V blog or the Return of Kings site. But that's not the case. (In fact, as far as I can tell, all manosphere blogs allow anyone to comment -- check the Viva La Manosphere site or Elusive Wapiti for a rundown of such blogs.)
I see no problem with this forum being a "men's space" and an exclusive one at that. I'm sure there are countless women-only space on the Web where they don't want men's opinions, and I think they should have total freedom to do that if they want. So should this forum.

Not only was it the best thread here ever it was probably the best on the entire internet. Do you guys understand what kind of potential it had? Years and years!
