I took a look at it and they pulled back some mad excesses from season 4 with Ragner the junkie, the Asian slave bullshit, the super-super-super-femanizis. They let Floki go to Iceland - Islam is postponed for him since they are pumping out 20 episodes for season 5 and another 20 for episode 6.

I guess that they are not done with the feminist propaganda.

Here a few impressions I collected - I read a book while watching it with one eye, but I did not miss the most importent gems:

+ the female inclusion in the Viking soldiers have become worse - not only has Lagartha her feminazi super-squads running around with huge shields that look too big for them, but they have roughly 20% of the entire forces even in the fucking front lines made out of women. They are now not only shieldmaidens - they swing swords and axes. You see women getting crushed and beaten to pulp. Every time during a battle scene you see a brave 250 pound 6"4 warrior crush a woman and her her scream - I cannot note how this frankly devalues his deeds as well.
+ there are scenes there were all the drummers were young men, but the women were front-line soldiers - it felt like watching the LAST JEDI and seeing diversity hires everywhere
+ you will see all the main female heroines like Lagartha and others not age one day for 20 years - the men will have long beards, some grey added in it, they will have changed appearances, but all the women are as young as they were in season 1 - THIS IS DELIBERATE
+ the story becomes ever more convoluted - Bjorn Ironside instead of attacking Italy abandons his ships for some plot reason and goes on some idiotic side-plots to the Muslims, he meets the emir who wants to have him killed. Both Muslim leaders look like educated good-looking charismatic Italian guys and not Middle Eastern at all. He almost gets killed and gets there for no reason at all. Never mind that he likely was never there and the instances where Vikings met the Muslim hordes were rare from their side - and even if they met, then Muslims would rather fight them, capture them or kill them. I guess they are setting up something else in the future. And they even added some transgender gay bullshit by the Emir offering one of the Vikings a trannie sex slave with a dick? No seriously - the early Muslims who were likely very much anti-gay and very masculine have trannie-sex-slaves - fucking bullshit.
+ Aside from that they are even abandoning all reason and any bloody historical accuracy. Sure - the sage of Ragnar was partly myth, but the more you reach the 9th century and especially the story of Wessex, the more historical sources you have. They literally abandon everything, abandon the story of Ragnar's sons who did not waste their time by fighting each other, but simply conquered everything left and right and became kings of their own regions - it's as if one guy could reign over half of Europe then anyway. But I guess they put it that way to show toxic masculinity and why women are so much superior (never mind that Lagartha caused the conflict by killing the mother of most of the sons - in reality the sagas say that the woman who got killed sired all the sons including Bjorn).
+ And Floki's Iceland settling does not go well - toxic masculinity and all - I guess he will sail south again and join Islam - maybe be ready for their conquest of Spain which by that time would have been ongoing - then their march against France.

I know that the writers were even in the beginning abandoning realism vs depicting some kind of poetic crap that has little to do with history, but for God's sake this is supposed to be the bloody HIstory channel. Game of Thrones depicts medieval Europe better than this crap.

In the last episode I looked king Cuck of Wessex (his first son got sired by his father and the other by the priest (((Ethelstein))) dies because of an allergic reaction to a bee sting. And why the fuck did they set this bullshit up at all? Wessex history by then was no longer myth - the older brothers of Alfred died and he got the job as it usually goes when his older brothers die fighting the formidable Vikings.

The Vikings as told by the feminazi HIstory channel would have all died out anyway since they are sending their pregnant and fertile women out to the front lines. I literally saw Lagartha mow down 10+ men in battle (and some women because she was fighting the Last Jedi affirmative action Vikings).

I tell you what feminazis - let us arm the Gender Studies professor in Vikings gear, 30 pound swords and 40 pounds chainmail, 20 pounds shields, then arm some young men - even soyboys. And then let them fight for real. I would be surprised if even one man gets killed while you will be all slaughtered.

But not in the Hollywood history - there a 45+ year old Lagartha who has not aged one day in 20 years - she is fighting like the medieval Rock in Viking times and plenty of women do the same.

The show would be gain realism if they suddenly included Zulu blacks and Japanese Ninjas fighting - or why not fucking crashed Aliens with green skin and orange eyes - just pick up a sword and become a Viking. There are 85 pound immortal women fighting professional soldiers and killing dozens - let ET fight too.

The show has become the Spaceballs of History.

The only good thing about the show are the masculine men looking sharp and strong and the occasional sex scene.

Oh - and speaking of sex scenes this one Queen of the Vikings and former lover of Lagartha gets literally gang-raped by her own subjects as she pays a whaler to warn Lagartha of the attack. They literally gang-rape her and she does not tell anyone - does not even have them killed later as a queen is powerful enough. No - I guess that they put this bullshit in to show that Nordic men have been doing gang-rapes since forever - now it's only a coincidence that Muslim men are raping them in gangs.

This fucking show ..... (and yes gang rapes certainly were happening in battle, but those men were certainly not raping their fucking queen or even the normal married women there - this is bullshit)

I was really perplexed when I saw this scene. It is also implied that Viking in question really did fuck he/her. Jesus... I mean Odin...

And what is about with cannibalism?

Binge watched the latest season (first half of season 5) and was disgusted. I really had to spend my time more wisely.

I was bored by all the infighting between Vikings. I had hoped that sons of Ragnar would achieve greatness by attacking more foreign lands. I wanted to see brave Pagans slaughtering more cowardly Christians and more dirty camel piss drinkers and goat fuckers. Instead they wasted time killing each other for no reason. The journey to Mediterranean plot ended nowhere - during one episode Bjorn escapes on a camel and after 20 minutes he has teleported back to Kattegat?

Viking leaders didn't have so much power. They were rather democratic an held Things (meetings of freemen) to settle questions. Why it has never been shown in this series? All those vikings inducing pregnant women going to battle their own folk due to some beta loser King wanting a better title and some loser impotent cripple being angry at his brothers? Any reasonable free viking man would have said: "Fuck that! I am not fighting for this! I want to farm my land in peace or go travel and pillage rich Christian lands where there is plenty of booty!" Totally stupid how thousands of men and hundreds of women fight to settle family disputes of a cripple boy, they should have killed such stupid leaders who fight for no reason and set their sights to plundering richer foreign lands instead.

All these disputes should have been solved in a duel. Let Ivar fight Lagertha - a cripple vs a woman sounds fair. And let Harald fight Bjorn. They themselves introduced duels as accepted means of solving political disputes in season 1 when Ragnar dueled Earl Haraldson. Why are they ignoring it now? There is no way such large armies of free men would fallow these stupid leaders into these suicidal wars. A Christian king could use religion to summon blind armies, but Pagan kings? no way!

The only interesting subplot this season was with Floki, he is indeed the only remaining sensible character there.

The authors of this show apparently want to portray European ancestors as idiots who kill for no reason and need Christianity and Islam to organize them into proper society. I cannot but dislike a a show who's authors apparently hate their own source material.

Fully agree. Varg mentioned this kind of subversion several times, it is simply prevalent not only in education system but also in media. I am afraid we will never get non biased approach.

Btw, regarding duels, there were some VERY RARE duels between man and a woman. In order to make fight fair, man was put in the hole that went up to his belly/chest area.

If you are going to watch a series on TV, I think the rule of thumb should be watch seasons 1-2 of a good show because it is good. Watch season 3 because it is decent and then get the hell out.

Walking Dead

Game of Thrones

Vikings

etc.

nah, this formula is too simplified to be of any real use.

In case of GoT - season 4 was the best. The fall from season 4 (best) to season 5 (worst together with 6th) was steep and most people hoped it would not be so bad.

As for Vikings - actually all their seasons have the same anti-white progopganda, but us history nerds still watch it for the cool battles. So this series quality is rather constant. I know I will watch this series to the end despite me disliking the propoganda. It's a guilty pleasure and some fun is in debunking all the bullshit that goes on.

I haven't watched and probably won't watch Walking dead because it's neither historic or sci-fi and the Zombie theme seems boring and overdone IMHO. Without watching it I can tell that it is about idots acting like morons because in real life a Zombie epidemic would be stopped easily and you must have humans acting 10 times stupider then in real life to make it work. It's a fault I find with nearly Zombie movies and it certainly must be present in a dragged out series.

The one show that I absolutely hated, all seasons, was Breaking bad, because I found each and every character utterly deplorable. I suspect only people who share the same sins at the characters depicted, at least lenient attitude to soft drugs, feminism or cheating can like that show and am not among them. Despite me hating that show still ended up watchin all of it due to the hype and me willing to understand all the memes that came out of it.

Just wait till the next season. The Vikings will be holding signs saying Refugees Welcome, getting gangraped by Muslims and have their military commanded by women.

It'll be set in 2018.

Spot on. I suffered through a binge-watch of the first season at the insistence of a friend who was obsessed with it. The first two or three episodes were okay, but then the characters turned whiny and insufferable, and started doing things that no person with an ounce of sense would do in such a situation. By the end I was rooting for the zombies - every single character just needed to die in the most horrible way possible.

Said friend was not happy when I gave him my opinion.

I made it through the first two seasons of Vikings. It was still pretty interesting at that point, though obviously veering increasingly from actual history. One thing I liked at the very beginning that they didn't seem to make much use out of was the use of fantasy or myth woven in with reality. I thought they would do more with the indefinite presence of Odin that featured in the first few episodes, for example, showing the human characters having connections to and guidance from the Aesir/Vanir through dreams, omens, signs, etc. It would have given it an epic feel, but instead they opted for the cheesy, the lurid, and the absurd in service to contemporary conceits.

Wasted potential. I read accounts here of the later seasons and wonder what the writers were thinking. It sounds even more incomprehensible now than the later seasons of "Lost".

That has partly happened already - women are the best leaders and on par with male warriors marching into battle while carrying 80 pound equipment as if it was nothing to them.

And they depicted the Muslims as highly efficient, diverse with lots of black soldiers, very intelligent leaders, but the biggest insult was this one raiding party of the Vikings. In that town the Muslims reacted by going into the mosque to pray while the Vikings were pillaging them. Yeah - one religion of war meets another religion of war and Muslims behave like some kind of obscure peace-sect that prays even while lions rip their children to pieces.

The cultural marxists only do the series in order to:

+ retcon history on all levels
+ make the Vikings and all white northern - even Christian tribes appear backwards, violent, drug-addicted, stupid and incompetent
+ make the women into the true leaders expanding the shield-maiden aspect (which was mainly defensive and last-ditch) into female super-soldiers fighting next to professional men
+ make Islam appear like a civilized exalted religion - possibly letting later some of them convert to it, because obviously it is soooo much better

What is missing is a greater prominence of blacks, but that may come in the next seasons.

Essentially the show is 101 cultural marxism and current-year-propaganda that only has a flimsy connection to real history.

As others noted - Vikings back then certainly had a rather shallow hierarchy. The kings were not far removed from their men back then. A weak or psychopathic king (if he directed his temper towards his own tribe) would not survive for long or remain chief. And female warriors don't exist.

But the Vikings show started in saner times a few years ago.

Things have considerable deteriorated since then:

I did not watch that crud, but Britannia is supposedly beset by even more bad-ass super-women. 45yo woman in gown beating 3 professional soldiers in their prime? No problem. Most current-day Navy seals when given a sword would have trouble fighting those guys, but she can do it - the past was female too!

Holy shit! Look at the official imdb description of Britannia.

In 43 AD, the Roman Army - determined and terrified in equal measure - returns to crush the Celtic heart of Britannia - a mysterious land ruled by warrior women and powerful druids who can channel the powerful forces of the underworld. Or so they say.

They are not even hiding anymore, but proudly saying what is going on.

Of all the televisual disappointments I've suffered recently, 'The Vikings' and 'The Walking Dead' have to be two of the worst offenders. I mean, how on earth can you possibly fuck up such promising sandboxes. Both series started off very well before increasingly turning to shit. I've officially given up on TWD after the last series, I just can't take it anymore. It's total fucking visual cancer.

I'm just about hanging on to 'The Vikings' but it was touch-and-go watching Floki (of all fucking people!) walk around that Mosque in seeming admiration etc. With Ragnar gone, he's my favourite character, if they continue to destroy his appeal, I'll spend the rest of my life just telling people how shit 'The Vikings' is in retaliation.

'The Vikings' SJW corruption hurts worse, because of the sinister historical revisionism. I'm becoming increasingly aware of the importance of 'voting with your wallet'/buying is voting' (there should be a thread if there isn't one already on what should/shouldn't be supported/clicked on). As I'm the person who would normally go out and buy the dvd box-sets of shows like TWD and Vikings, the fact that I've suddenly stopped buying their crap surely has to start hurting the fuckers.

Essentially you need to avoid, not support close to anything.

The thread - should be named "AVOID ALL MODERN HOLLYWOOD WITH THE EXCEPTIONS NAMED IN THE THREAD".

And even then - the people may disagree on the level of propaganda they are aware of. Hollywood could produce quality content, there are certainly quite a few Red Pill writers/producers who are even aware of Game or even have more than a passing knowledge of it. But they are not allowed to put that into the movies - you see at best flashes of it here and there.

The best thing is to simply not feed the beast - cancel even HBO. You can spend several lifetimes watching old movies from the 1920s to the 2000s.

I started watching this on Sunday nights following Walking Dead, glad to hear it's being renewed since it seemed to have a solid first season.

I've always enjoyed reading/watching historical fiction, even if the show does take some large liberties with the stories and myths. Didn't realize at first that all the landscape shots were done in Ireland, looks great.

Also, anyone else think that Ragnar's wife (Katheryn Winnick) is the Canadian Scarlett Johansson?

SPOILERS:

New series hasn't been too bad at all. It's basically just chronicling Ivar's increasing delusion (he gets cucked) and the resurgence of the Anglo-Saxons. I assume it's leading up to a big battle when Ivar gets bored in Norway and comes over to England. He and Mr. Face Tattoos will have a bust up/backstabbing episode at some point when he arrives, and then that force will face the new Anglo-Saxon/Viking force.
