Santa Barbara, California

I pop in and out of SB from time to time. I'll bust out a datasheet on the surrounding area at some point. Anyone who's in the area feel free to PM me; I need a good wingman and can offer hookups/dealers in exchange.

Didn't realize there was already a thread, i made this a few months ago during old spanish days(i went to ucsb in the mid 1990s to early 2000s but this should still be relevant) and that was the day the forum went down. go figure.

I spent 6 years in this town, it has very favorable ratios, and a few days out of the year the downtown is just one big party(Old Spanish days, which is over the summer, and Halloween). I will also give a brief writeup for Isla Vista, the Beach suburb of UCSB.

The Skinny
It is a beach town where the women take pride in showing skin comparable to San Diego, but not to the extent of Miami. One of the biggest complaints of women in this town, is that there is a shortage of men. This leads to favorable ratios for the most part. The downside: it is a good place to retire, not really a lot of job growth, mostly a college town and a lot of retirees

The main reason I am writing this: right now(until August 4th) it is Old Spanish Days, a lot of local Spanish themed events like parades, but at night literally ALL of the clubs will be packed and have good ratios. I would suggest just picking one and getting in line. The only better time to visit would be Halloween, where it is even more crowded, the tourists and locals turn downtown state street into their own parade.

The clubs

Most of the clubs are in downtown state street area. Wildcat Lounge: good for dancing, usually crowded- if you like to run dance game, you will like this place.

James Joyce, more of a bar than a dance club, but a good place to kick back and drink.

O'Malleys tavern, another good place to drink, they usually won't have live bands, but will surely have a DJ and dancing on the weekends

Sharkeez, more of a sports bar, they have a good $2 taco tuesday and every day happy hours and had good promotions- some nights would bring in girls from the local sororities to work as bar tenders.

Mel's, a lot of the locals come here to do their drinking. During the day, you will see more of the older demographic drinking here, but can still be worth checking out on a friday night

Elsie's: I swear the owners seem to want to keep this place as unknown as possible. More of a lounge, they have comfortable booths, ping pong, pacman and galaga arcade machines and a very chilled out vibe overall. I don't think I have ever seen it super busy but somehow they stay in business. No dancing but if you like to make approaches in a very subdued environment, this could be a good place for you.

For students, Thursdays would usually have no cover if you brought your student ID, not sure is that is still the case but from googling, it sounds like it. If you live in Isla Vista, take the Bill's Bus(sponsored by the local bars) so you don't have to worry about DUIs. Bill's bus isn't a bad place to run game on girls so long as they aren't throwing up on the bus.(that definitely happens). Or if you are riding it on the way there, you can practice running game on the girls on the bus as a warm up. Definitely drink before you get on the bus because if you are a student, drinking in a club can be expensive.

Hotels/hostels
Banana Bungalow no longer has a hostel here, a pity because it was very close to all the bars. Looks like "santa barbara tourist hostel" and "Lena cottages" are the local hostels that are close to the bars and will be cheap, but a crowded dorm.

Depending on the season, the downtown motel 6 may be as much as $200(ouch), and the swanky hotels by the beach will of course be even more.

You can always sleep in your car, then go to a gym like gold's gym and get your workout and shower.

If you like going to the beaches, you will like Santa Barbara during the day.

For the Students, if you are a freshman, you will likely want to live on campus, and get a bicycle. that is going to be your main mode of transportation and get a U Lock and always lock your bike to a rack so it won't get gaffed.

The campus itself is a great place to make approaches during the day. Stick to the humanities and social sciences buildings for that though, the sciences aren't going to be as good.

There are many ways to socialize at UCSB, the greek scene isn't big like UCLA as a result. If you are over 21, you will definitely want to be going downtown to party it up. If you are under 21, you can always walk del playa on friday and saturday nights. It is a sea of people and lots of garage bands. It is extremely difficult to pick up women you don't know while walking DP on a saturday or friday because the women have their bitch shields up and are mostly wary. However, you will run into women you sort of know from classes and social circles or work and that is definitely the time to run game on these women when they are in some level of inebriation.

Take your dates to sands beach to watch the sun go down. do not try to drive out to sands, you will get a parking ticket, just take bikes.

I highly recommend intramural sports(hopefully these are still offered at UCSB). Sign up for a co-ed basketball team or soccer team if that is your game.

There are a lot of social clubs, whatever you like to do, there is likely a club on campus for you. Heck, they even have an anime club, lots of asian women in that if that is your cup of tea.

As for Isla vista bars, study Hall is still in business. Most of the burrito shops serve beer. The coffee shops usually are pretty crowded with good looking women, so if you like to run game in coffee shops, have at it.

If you have work study, get hooked up with an easy job the first week of campus because the good jobs will be taken up quickly. This can be a great way to learn the campus and also meet women.

do your laundry at bubbles and beans in isla vista, drink your coffee while your laundry washes itself and there are always cute hotties doing the same just waiting to be approached.

i probably have forgotten a ton, but this is a good start, anyone can feel free to add to this.(I will likely make a separate write up for halloween, the santa barbara halloween festivities sometimes get the school voted as "#1 party school in america" by playboy among others. This is a lot longer than I originally intended, hopefully some of you will find it useful. Ask questions if you have any.

I will tell you who the top dogs are:

Surfer/Fraternity guys (ie meaning they are both) from Beachtowns in Southern California.

Those would be the #1's.

I would say this is also true of any coastal school in Southern California.

#2 would be smooth Drug Guys.

#3 would be rich guys.

#4 would be jocks

#5 would be gayer pretty boys.

No.

#1 soccer and basketball jocks. Guaranteed.

#2 surfer guys from OC (not the hippie surfer type, the bro surfer type - ripped, trucker-hat-wearing cocky dude from a rich a family)

#3 tie between smooth drug guys and frat boys from top 2 frats (UCSB is not a big greek school, the real scene is dp-centric)

However, there's so much talent that as long as you've got confidence, are in good shape and fairly social (i.e. decent social circle), you can get laid a lot and with quality girls.

Enjoy!

Fair enough.

Times change.

Really, soccer?

UCSB doesn't have a football team, so the most popular collegiate sports are soccer and basketball.

In fact, soccer is popular because the UCSB soccer team is actually pretty good.

when i was there, the surf team(which wasn't so much of a team, just random guys who surfed and were students) and ultimate frisbee won national titles.

Apparently ucsb won a national title in soccer in 2006, which would explain what you are saying.(and runner up for the national title in 2004). So what you are saying about the soccer guys makes sense.

Speaking of surfing, on the hot sunny days, even if you don't know how to surf, there will be plenty of party girls that like to go to sands beach that like to be approached. Women in this town take pride in showing off their best assets. Bring a frisbee or whatnot as a prop, but overall, you will have a much easier time running game during the day on girls on the beach(or on campus at ucsb or sbcc) than walking DP on a friday or saturday night. My point is, their bitch shields go up at night.

(of course, you will run into girls you are acquaintances with while walking dp at night and can try to run game at them, or when you go to a party, obviously.) When you are 21, go downtown to state street on thursday nights, friday nights and saturday nights. Ride bill's bus, do most of your drinking before you leave and you won't be stuck paying fat bar tabs). Bill's bus itself was actually a pretty good place to run game on girls.

This is a thank you note to the entire forum and specifically to a few members:

I successfully moved from what I consider boring, traffic filled, cliquish, and logistical nightmare of Orange County to Santa Barbara a few weeks ago.

My first week here I got 3 new girls in bed one each night Thursday, Friday, Saturday. 2 new bangs out of it. One was a 22 year old with a nearly flawless tanned ultra fit yoga body. I am working on new leads all the time. The other was a 27 half Filipina half Italian, also banging body.

Anyways here's a list of thank you's:

Roosh - how important it is for a man's life quality and motivation to live near a city center with beautiful women. Fuck the suburbs it drains your testosterone and soul. This made me risk moving in the first place.

Gmanifesto - I now surf and have caught the bug.

Giovonny - The aforementioned 22 year old yoga teacher in training was approached in the grocery store. 90 minutes on the first date to bang due to logistics. I now routinely day game almost on auto pilot. I have dates lined up with girls I have met on campus. I am now starting to see at 28 how a man's age being older can really stack the cards in your favor with younger girls that are into it, they almost jump at the chance to hang out if it's the right girl.

El Mechanico / Roosh / McQueen / others: Terse text game that always controls the frame has started to become an art form haha.

One thing I am curious of and if it will last, is I have almost weaned myself off online game entirely because there are just so many approach opportunities. If I don't get lazy this could become indefinite.

When I get a little more experience here I will bust out a data sheet that is up to forum standards.

Damn I'm sorry I missed that Spanish Days thing. I haven't really been following this thread and missed out. I would've gone had I seen that.

@Travesty, Congrats. It's great to see how adjusting your logistics can make all the difference in the world. Also always encouraging to hear stories of us "older" guys banging young women with no problem. Also, just curious, are you doing a location independent biz? I hear there's absolutely no work up there other than restaurants and hospitality.

Goal will be that in the future. I program and got a contract to hire gig. There is a small but vibrant start up and small company tech stuff here, that is the only money industry I know outside of being a top university administrator, or something to do with real estate or hospitality.

As mentioned in my plan this was part of the process. If I could score a gig that pays the bills to have airtight logistics with party money to spare I am in a small group of guys in their 20s or 30s in town with these resources. Tons of yoga instructor wannabe and trust fund girls just wine tasting and living on debt or dad and mom's money. Most guys need to leave to the big cities to make money.

Almost no one in their 20s has their own place right in the action. And there just aren't many dudes between 22 and 35 in SB in general it feels. Girls with yoga shit on bicycles all day. Plus the tourist girls visiting their friend that lives in town are also mostly women it seems as again guys don't seem to hang around here. The average young couple or family also cannot afford real estate here, it's all renters. So it keeps out the family suburb vibe even more which is great.

Not true. There are some tech companies around Santa Barbara, mostly related to aerospace & defense: Raytheon, FLIR Systems, Toyon, etc. Some biotech and nanotech companies, too. And some startups building apps for smartphones and stuff like that. A few Engineering / Physics professors at UCSB start their own companies (e.g., Transphorm).

Here is info about the famous Halloween festivities in Isla Vista this weekend. The area around UCSB will be filled to the brim with drunk hot girls from all over California.

I go to UCSB and, to be honest, Halloween is kinda overrated here.

I did Halloween in I.V. about 5 years ago, but that was before I got into "game" and worked on my appearance, lifting weights, etc.

There were a shit ton of hot girls, but I felt like there were other issues that made the scene kind of whack. For example, there are a shit ton of agro dickhead fratboy types that will talk shit to you and instigate fights, and fights break out there all the time.

While there are a grip of parties all over D.P. and I.V. the people throwing them are still pretty exclusive and if you're obviously not a student at UCSB or a local they will try to exclude you from their party, or just act like jerks to you. Not to mention if you do get into a house party they are so packed that it's shoulder to shoulder and no room to maneuver.

Next the fucking cops are everywhere and if you try to light a joint, drink off a flask, etc., they will be on your ass in seconds and it will be a major buzz kill.

The best game for someone not already plugged into a social scene is just shotgun a mass amount of approaches and escalate hard and fast, plus try to get the chick into isolation away from her group of friends. Street game is killer and any girls out without dudes late into the night will be drunk and worth approaching.

I think I could have possibly scored with a cute 20 year old chick from LA, but I had zero logistics as I was crashing on a couch in my buddy's living room, and he had 2 other guys on the floor.

It would be interesting to go back with better game and looks, and try to see if I could pull off a swoop.

Yeah, as fun as UCSB and IV are, there definitely are a lot of issues with the social scene here...the cops are massive assholes, parties can be unreasonably packed/shitty if you aren't in a frat. As awesome as this place is, I do feel like it's a little overrated. And this is coming from a student. If I didn't go here, IV would honestly be pretty low on my list of places to party.

I'm definitely going to try street approaching more on DP at night. Most of my fellow freshmen see it as something of a no-no, which is a stupid limiting belief. While the sorority types who move in giant packs are probably as unapproachable as they look, the rest(the girls moving in ones and twos) should be fair game.

The thing about IV that I thought was retarded is the dickheads that will just go out of their way to talk shit to you, even when you are a total stranger to them, have never seen them before, and they have absolutely no reason to dislike you.

That shit never happens up here in NorCal it's true that people are way more laid back and chill. I remember multiple occasions in IV where guys would randomly start calling me a faggot or making fun of me for some reason. Some little bitch SoCal kid who looked like a Blink-182 wanna be with a shaved head, gaged ears, and a bunch of tats randomly got all up in my face and was trying to start a fight with me in front of a big group of hot chicks. It was so retarded, but apparently the girls ate it up, I didn't fight the guy and basically ignored him, like I do all jackasses like that.

I really just can't understand why there are so many pricks down there who engage in that kind of petty immature bullshit. Even though they aren't worth shit, part of me would just like to stomp the shit out of one, just to teach them a lesson, and make them learn to be a little more humble.

You pretty much summed up Halloween and, to a lesser extent, your average Friday and Saturday night in IV.

The only thing you forgot to mention is the 6 pm noise ordinance during Halloween week.

Yeah, this resonates with one of your articles where you say that big nights such as Halloween, New Years, etc. suck.

Anyhow G, I know you have partied here in IV during your formative years, and that what you say is legit.

I just want to know, what advice would you give to someone here?
