my brother has pretty positive success with the classic
her "i have a boyfriend"
him "i have a test tomorrow"
her "what??"
him "oh i thought we were naming things we should cheat on"
I never tried it but when i see him use it, it usually works. but he does love to use corny canned pick up lines

I would just ignore the statement if she said it 1x. It might just be a test. And I managed to get the bang even if she DOES have a bf. I talk on as if nothing happened.
Later on in the convo she said about how "her bf is ignoring her" (means that = fk my bf, you're better, game me)
If she said it 2x or insists, it might mean she's really not interested tho. Ultimately you can only know if a girl is not interested in you is that if she's stops talking to you.

One I’ve tried is asking her “Is he here right now?” followed by “Well, he’s not doing a very good job, is he?”
I like it because the answer is valid whether he is present in the bar/club or not.

I don't think any attempt to diminish the boyfriend is going to work very well. The most logical reaction is that the girl will get defensive, it's her choice to be with him after all. Plus, regardless of the state of their relationship, she will probably like him enough to defend him and her choice.
I would go with disqualification, something classic like "I'm not going to be your bf" or saying that I'm sure they're perfect for one another. Got to admit, the "problems" line is pretty good though.
If it won't matter in 30 years, it doesn't matter now.
