Who is using L-Theanine?

Doesn't do too much for me. Stopped taking it. I've heard many people heavily overdosing for a longer lasting effect

Who is using L-Theanine?

I have to say, after using L-Theanine a few times, this supplement is not a game changer for me in most regards.

However, it has proven extremely useful after a night out with a lot of drinking. When I get home after such a night, I take 2 pills (400 mg) of it and feel no hangover the next morning.

This oberservation is even backed up by research:

On the 1st hour after ethanol administration, the ethanol concentrations in blood of the theanine combined groups decreased compared with the ethanol-alone group. The alcohol dehydrogenase and aldehyde dehydrogenase activities in the liver increased by combined theanine.

For our German speaking RVF readers, I recently covered my hangover cure, including L-Theanine on my blog (Mannbibel.com), if you would like to take a look.

Hangovers. Now, I know alot of academic papers seem to conclude there are no true hangover cures, stacking Theanine, Calcium, Vitamin D and Ginseng together seems to kill any hangover symptoms I have. I consistently use theanine for this, and even yesterday after waking up with a horrible hangover, this stack seemed to have completely destroyed the issues I was having.

Anxiety. The theanine and caffiene combo are excellent combatants of anxiety. It works absolutely well, and if you have to a do a presentation that doesn't go beyond reading some paper, this shit will do you damn well. I think this is why many people seek to use theanine and I don't blame them.

That's pretty cool, and very good to know. I didn't notice getting much out of it, maybe a little less anxiety and more drowsiness but weaker than phenibut. I will keep some around for the alcohol protection effects now though, and maybe give it a second shot for anxiety.

Unless people are getting a noticeable potency increase with pills I would add my vote to the powder pile. Mixed in with water it goes down easier than even pills do - no taste at all - and costs 1/10 as much.

I've got to say, after 2 months of taking now brand L-theanine I haven't noticed a singpe difference. I just stopped taking them, they seemed like a waste of money.

I've tried it, didn't notice any difference, day went on as per usual. The only supplement I ever noticed a massive difference on was creatine so I tend to always make sure I spend on that, but after buying all the other shit like BCAA's, antioxidants, multivitamins, vitamin D, zinc, fish oil I sometimes wonder if it's worth the money, I can no longer tell what I need from what is possibly a placebo effect... I'll still keep taking them though, god damn the stupid supplement industry.

Who is using L-Theanine?

I just got a bunch of NOW L-Theanine 200mg pills in the mail.

This morning I had eggs and Green tea, then saw my package as I left to go eat "brunch". I popped one a few hours after eating and had some coffee, then got my food at the restaurant. Ate it, didn't feel anything, and popped two more. So that was 200mg, then another 400mg, 600mg total.

I met up with a friend, had a couple of drinks and hung out, felt nothing. I'm not focusing on work or anything, which was my goal with this, but I just wanted to see what it was like. So far a cup of tea or coffee seems like a much stronger "drug" than this. No real effects of note. Tomorrow I'll try to use it on an empty stomach and focus on work instead of being out and about.

From the information on this thread I've inferred that the now brand of l theanine is pretty useless.

Anyone tried suntheanine l theanine? Planning on buying that.

Go for the pure powder form, I buy mine from PowderCity.com, they include lab results and I believe it's usually 99% pure. I paid $15 for what looks like will last me a couple years. Works great, but then again I've been taking it so long I'm just used to it so it's not the magic pill that it once was.

From reading this post it's obviously not for everyone, so if you don't need it it's most likely not going to do much for you.
