Vending machine challenge in progress...

This seems to be an ibanking phenomenon of late and there's a guy in my group attempting it today. Basically he has from 9-5 to consume one of everything in the vending machine. It totals around 7500 calories and there have been bets made on what time he finishes as well as how many items remain if he doesn't finish. Pot is about $600 and he'll get half with the rest going to the bet winners.

He's off to an impressive start and I think my bet of four items remaining is going to be a losing one. Almost positive he will finish but he is starting to hit a wall. Another element is the mental one as people are constantly stopping by and asking him how he feels, does he feel sick yet, does he think he'll puke, etc. There's also a 30 minute "clawback" period after completion where if he throws up he loses.

Problem seems to be the sheer amount of sodium, sugar, and dryness involved. He's currently working on some cheese crackers and said that every bite just saps the moisture out of his mouth.

Sodium count is: 6000mg
Fat count: 325g
Calorie count: 7500

Reminds me of the gallon of milk challenge. The point of betting wasn't so much to win money but to get a ticket to the puke show.

How many items total in the machine?

Or total by volume/weight?

Last year I needed some cash to go to spring break so I made myself a challenge to eat 30 carnival cookies in 30 minutes at the school dining halls. I made 700 bucks off of bets/donations

36 items. We didn't calculate weight, but I may can get that.

My four items remaining bet is looking a lot better. His pace has slowed dramatically.

~12 items remain. Three hours left on the clock.

He's struggling and becoming a little disoriented. He said he doesn't want to make any sudden movements. Apparently a guy in another group did this challenge and near the end he "couldn't see his monitor".

I advised him this morning to chew the gum (he has to chew 2min/piece) earlier rather than later because it'll trigger his gag reflex. He said this advice saved him and that at this point he wouldn't be able to chew gum.

The combination of being that full and being pumped full of sodium and sugar must be pretty rough.

What kind of vending machine is this? The one where I work has got like 5 chips per bag, and tons of "healthy" options. Are we talking chocolate milk and sandwiches here?

We purchased the out of stock items from another machine.

Despite a few large items (the cookies in the upper left, one row down), it looks much easier than it is.

Guy is like 5'7", 160lbs and usually has a pretty stout appetite (we eat dinner at work a lot and he's always stuffing his face).

The stats tell it all:
Sodium count is: 6000mg
Fat count: 325g
Calorie count: 7500
Sugar: 525g
Carbs: 1050

...8 hours.

I couldn't do that for $300.

Are you kidding me, I would destroy that thing. As long as I didn't have to eat the gum.

The problem is it's not worth 300 to do that to your body.

But seriously, there is nothing challenging in there. When you said one guy got disoriented, I assumed there were a bunch of energy drinks in there.

Give me 1000, and I will come over there and do it in 2-3 hours.

I am thinking about this some more. Spread over 8 hours - it might be possible. But I would need alot of milk to wash down the chocolate. Chocolate makes me very thirsty. But - I guess that would be cheating.

Still - I don't think the money is worth it to feel like shit. I am no health nut. I just really hate feeling like shit. And nothing makes you feel worse than a bunch of snacks like that.

He's practically stopped and still has like 8-10 items. Honestly I was expecting a stronger performance given how he crushed so many items within the first hour. Say's he's definitely going to puke.

Another guy here completed it last week and made $600.

cardguy, milk?!?! That seems like a terrible idea for this challenge.

Those cookies and chips would be murder. That and those fucking 50 cent crackers with all the salt.

But you would only have to eat one item every 13-15 minutes. I just don't think it would be that hard.

The fact that you have to chew the stupid gum for 2 minutes would be the hardest part, bc you can basically swallow everything else.

For a G it might be worth it. But anyone who would do it for $300 is either broke dumb or starving.

That seems pretty doable. specially if he has all day to finish them off.

A guy could probably swing the event in his favor by lifting really heavy the day before, gorging as much as possible early in the day, pumping himself full of fluids and laxatives, then basically alternate every hour eating or on the shitter. Anything to keep the digestive tract running full tilt the whole day would keep any part of the system from bottlenecking on all that shit food.

I thought he had to eat the entire machine for some reason.

Yeah, this doesn't seem to terribly difficult. I would probably fast for 2 days before I did such a challenge, though.
