I don't know. He's a mutt. He looks like a small Lab but with the color and markings of a Bernese mountain dog. He's only around 40 lbs.

Maybe he gets bored easily. For fence jumpers, there's little to do except have a wooden fence at least 6 ft high and nothing too close that a dog can climb to get over (sheds, trashcans, trees, etc).

I do have a 6 ft wooden fence. My dog still climb up it like a frigging gangsta. I can't leave him outside unattended.

Dogs can also cockblock you. You got to spend time tending to them. And you can't pick up and go wherever you want without ensuring that they have a good place to stay. A kennel or doggie daycare type joint may not cut it, depending upon your dog and how sensitive it is. It's good to have family or friends who can take care of your dog as well as you do. But maybe they won't always be there.

It's a pain when I travel. Sometimes when I travel I take my dog with me to houses/apartments on Airbnb that are pet friendly. It's still a hassle.

Having said all that, girls love dogs. They love talking about them. It's so easy to get a girl to come over to your place after talking up your dog. They want to meet this character they've heard so much about. And they want your dick too.

Get a 12 foot fence and get him an audition for the next District B13 movie?

Do dogs know when theyre small and can get killed by a bigger one? I love seeing a small one punk a huge one! My old miniature schnauzer would try to attack giants when they ran up to him. Little ass dog that wasnt scared of anything except water.

I wish my current boy wasnt so nice. Some german shepherd ran up to him and he jumped back and whimpered when the shepherd growled and "bit" him. He locked onto him but didnt bite down. Weird thing is he growls at people when they get close to us walking. Australian shepherd mix.
Last thing. How come only certain dogs like water? Mine hates getting baths and freaked out when I took him to the beach and threw him in. ive never had one that loves swimming.

Ensam,

You posted this 6 months ago so likely you have already made a decision.

Dogs are great but the only problem is, what do you do if you want to go overseas or even do domestic travel?? Put it in a kennel which will cost you bigtime and make the dog miserable, push it onto your parents?

Depending on where you live maybe there is shelters who do short term foster arrangements with rescued dogs and willing volunteers (you). You could use this opportunity to take in dogs for short term basis and your obligation ends when they have found a permanent home. Bonus here is that it is not such a long term responsibility, and you can get a good idea of what sort of dog you want to own eventually.

I think it's out of the cards for now. I've been traveling quite a bit and I don't see my schedule settling down anytime soon.

The shelter idea is good. I've been looking for some kind of volunteer work to do anyway and that might be a good place to start.

It's because some breeds were bred for protection and some were bred for companionship. And dogs that like water are the ones that were bred for retrieving preys in the water like a Labrador. Humans pretty much play god and mix and match breeds to create the perfect specimen for what they need.

My Boston Terrier is the anti-cockblock. If I bring a girl home she comes running over and gives me a nice hello. Then immediately starts pawing at my girl. The girls love her. After that, its smooth sailing from there.

If we are chilling on the couch, my dog will just hop up and lay in between us and sleep. Once the girl and I start doing our thing all I have to say is "Go get in your house" and she hops right into her crate. The girls usually laugh at that and say how well behaved she is (points right there because she knows I trained my dog well).

That dog never fails to impress and help my cause. Little badass.

How do I keep my dog from hopping the fence?

we have a short chain-link fence around our yard, the kind with sharp points protruding from the top. somehow, i think our dog knows that he'll be hurt if he tries to climb out.

also, we rescued him from the dog pound, so i think he figured out that he "has it made" with us

BTW Maltese attracts p00n line turds attract flies !!!

Please for the sake of yourself and potential pet get a dog that fits your lifestyle and not just the one to please the ladies. I have a Bulldog, more specifically Olde English Bulldogge which is a mix of Pitbull, Mastiff, American BUlldog and English Bulldog. Everywhere I go I get girls wanting to chat about him, pet him, etc.

I also have a Chihuaha / Weener Dog mix who women love as well. Basically just get something cute and girls will like your dog.

lol love the pics and yeah thats pretty much what I get to a lesser extent and not always cheerleaders [Image: sad.gif] lol. Bulldogs are awesome but shed alot, drool alot and have a lot of health problems.

Girls love my dog for 5 minutes walking down the street, if they actually start hanging out at my house they quickly get kinda tired of being covered in dog hair and slobber. If my dog shakes his head after drinking water I have slobber on the ceiling.

My female long haired german shepherd, sheds a fuck ton, super active and pickiest eater ever... definitely need to be dominant or she will walk all over you. That being said she's the most loyal dog ever and would gladly fight to the death to protect me. Had a rubber chicken that I'd hold 5ft up and she would latch onto it... I could swing her around for a couple minutes, all fours in the air and she will not let go haha.

She killed it as a puppy and still does me pretty well.. definitely an alpha dog.
