Bethesda is good if you are married and with kids but otherwise I would suggest living in someplace with better logistics or closer to colleges (and college chicks). You can live near college park or in georgetown. Presently there are a lot of city neighbourhoods that are becoming gentrified( i.e. cleaned up) and they tend to be cheap as well. If logistics are good then I would suggest to live in such a neighbourhood.

I would pick Bethesda over College Park. You are a few quick stops away on the redline from American University and downtown DC. I went to Friendship Heights and Bethesda Row for the first time 2 weekends ago. Talent level was pretty good. Not as good as Arlington, but nothing to complain about.

If you wanted to save a few bucks, yea sure you could head to Capitol Hill, Bloomingdale, Petworth, Columbia Heights, wherever - but you are still better off spending the same money on a smaller place in Dupont or Logan. a085 is coming from Moscow. I think he would better enjoy himself in the more international DuPont vs H Street. Divorco said money is not really an object so again, DuPont, Logan, G-Town for him.

Agreed. It really boils down to logistics: live as close as you can to the places you like to frequent. Makes it easier to get a girl back to your place later on.

North of Dupont near AdMo is the best area, IMO. You can walk to Woodley, AdMo, CoHi, U St and Dupont in under 20 minutes.

If you live near H st, you're only going to hang out near H St. Same for Glover Park and Georgetown... I could go on...

KALORAMA

lol yea, there's a name for it... I can't remember the last time anyone used it though!

So I'm also moving to DC soon - is there anything wrong with Dupont? I have found some ok studios within my budget. For proximity to nightlife and date logistics, seems like it can't be beat. Is there something I'm not understanding?

Is U street really that happening? Or Northern Virginia?

Try to live as close to foggy bottom as you possibly can. If i lived in DC i'd pick the apt complex above the Wholefoods in Foggy bottom.

Uhh. That's where I live and the nightlife blows. I mean, it would be great if you want to date some snobbish GWU girls, but if you're spending most of your time in Dupont or U St (like I do), then logistically Foggy Bottom is shitty.

And believe me, logistics are important in this city.

Yea. Nightlife is terrible there. But for daygame it's good. Two universities, a metro, a large wholefoods. Lots of chics around there. Plus ur not far from dupont. And you can walk to the waterfront bars which just got renovated.

This is certainly true. When I've taken dates down there, it's easy enough to get them back to my place. However, it really boils down to where you want to go out to drink and eat. For that, I'm always in other neighborhoods because there's nothing worthwhile in Foggy Bottom. Even the Circa now is overrun by people older than myself (Seems like State Dept folks before they jump on the Metro before they go back to NOVA).

Everyone was excited when that Whole Foods was about to open, but immediately disappointed with it's odd configuration and small size... Oh well. Walgreens is taking over the old Safeway space in the Watergate, so that will be a plus. Only place in DC with 3 grocery stores in a 5 block radius.

I second Foggy Bottom for day game. I was there just now. In addition to what Rakishness said, I also like the international presence there, especially during the work week. Tons of international organizations so people from all over the world work there.

On a separate note, I heard the Asia After Dark event at the Sackler Museum was a good look this past weekend. Menace put me onto it, but I couldn't make it. I saw a couple ASW folks I'm friends with on FB post pics from the event. I think it's only once a year. An outside the box type of move with potential it seems.

I was just at Circa in Foggy Bottom. That area might very well be in the best logistical area for day game in DC. Circa's outdoor bar area is sandwiched between Whole Foods and the Foggy Bottom metro station in the heart of GW's campus. Lots of foot traffic. We should host a DC RVF meetup there sometime.

Count me in. We have other options as well ie Jazz in Garden. There seems to be some DC white knight lurkers around here. We could get a roster together and pm out the details.

Too similar to DC lair meetings at Chipotle. We've hopefully all moved on from the old days of feather hats, boas, cheetah print suits and female opinion openers.

You can run zebra game without buying a zebra. Plus I hear girls get wet when they see tigers. Go for it!
