Soma's Jakarta (Big Durian) Nightlife Guide

I went to two of the big malls in Jakarta, plaza Indonesia and plaza sendanayan (something like that). I wasn't particularly impressed by what I saw. Plaza Indonesia isn't particularly crowded, as I believe Prosal warned. The other mall was huge and packed. I'm not a day game guy so I didn't spend too much time prowling, but got much better vibes of the receptiveness of girls online and at clubs.

I recently got back from a 12 day trip to Indonesia. This thread was super helpful, so I thought I'd share my experiences.

Jakarta: stayed at the grand Hyatt on plaza Indonesia. The hotel is great and I basically played the same game every day: line up girls on DIA, invite them to the Starbucks in plaza Indonesia, then back up to my room to "charge my phone". Closed one girl, lots of LMR from a second.

If unsuccessful from the date, I hit up X2, until I discovered that Immigrant is part of plaza Indonesia. Picked up successfully at both places. Coming from New York, I thought the clubs were expensive for the third world.

Other places: Stadium was pretty divey, but worth visiting for the hype. Same with BATS, for slightly different reasons. I actually enjoyed the cover band there quite a bit. Potato Head Garage is recommended for the food but is pricey.

Jogya: pretty dead at night. Would recommend for the culture but not much else ( was there midweek).

Bali: I spent three days in Bali, split between Ubud and Seminyak. Ubud is nice for sightseeing but not for what this forum is about IMHO. Stayed at the W in Seminyak - almost all couples, lots of Chinese and Korean. went out in Kuta. Sky Garden is an infamous place worth hitting. Lots of young Aussies, some reasonably fit, but other nationalities too. I later bounced to the Hard Rock Cafe, which has more of an Asian crowd, but was too late. I ended up at another bar in Seminyak called Rumours, where I shored successfully for the first time.

Surabaya: spent one night here on a layover. Stayed at the Sheraton - excellent value if on points. Great dinner at House of Sampoerna, which is a historical cigarette factory and strangely has a very nice but affordable restaurant. Went looking for chicas at Colours, which had a very unfavorable girl/guy mix, but a great band. After it closed, I went to a late night club at the Majapahit. It was the local version of Stadium - even darker if possible and just as drugged out. As I had an early am flight, I ultimately called it a night.

In summary, I really liked Indonesia and thought the people were very friendly and the food decent. The logisitics in cities is generally awful as has been reported. Date In Asia was a good source for Jakarta and women I met there were of good quality, albeit inferior to what I met in clubs. Surprisingly, there were some professional (career-wise) women on the site - I went on one coffee date with a girl who had the bloomberg app installed on her iPhone so she could check her stock portfolio. I didn't day game at all and was rolling solo throughout.
HaHa. I wonder if that was the same girl I pipelined in Jakarta in July that was trading gold on her phone while on a date with me. Very annoying.

Other than the Grand Hyatt, are are there any decent hotels near Plaza Indonesia?

It's incredible how the rates at the Grand Hyatt Jakarta are $300+ but only going for 8000 Hyatt points a night. If anyone wants me to get cheap rates for them, PM me. I've already booked 11 nights in August because I'm almost positive that they're going to be devaluing the points and making it more expensive to book these nights on points very soon.

I am pretty sure that in regard to lodging a large number of guys on this forum want to look to get good bang for the buck - especially when traveling to a SEA destination (of course there are high-ball roller exceptions), and I would venture to guess that a large number of guys on this forum (who would likely be traveling to bang girls and would be traveling solo) in traveling to these various third world destinations, would like to find lodging for $30-50 per day.

Surely, if the trip is more long-term then the cheaper a guy wants to pay per day; however, if the trip is only a few days, then he may be willing to go balls to the wall... but I would imagine, many guys on this form still would prefer to find lodging that is reasonable (unless our job is paying or something) and has the basic amenities of being clean, air conditioned and in a good strategical location for banging purposes.

So to me, anything that is charging $100s of dollars a night is out of the range and it seems that many of us would prefer to spend our money in other ways.

Can strategic babe-banging lodging be found in Jakarta in the $30 to $50 per night range?

I'm a frequent flier points hound and found Indonesia's hotels offered outstanding value for award redemptions, which is why I stayed at chain hotels my entire trip. It's not just Hyatt - The sheratons in Yogya and Surabaya were only 3,000 points per night.

Tip for the Grand Hyatt: they charge an exorbitant amount for Internet. On both occasions I stayed there, I asked politely if they would waive charges, to which they instantly agreed, and even threw in brunch the duration of my first stay there.

Good looking out enfuego. I'm a Hyatt Diamond so I get free Internet, breakfast, upgrades and all that jazz... Sheraton's only 3000 points a night, huh? Fantastic!

I see pretty good apartments on AirBnb for less than $50/night near Plaza Indonesia. Looks like the best value to me.

My theory is that for some of these places, they charge more for tourists who are looking by internet, and some decent places are NOT listed via internet.

Accordingly, I would bet that there are even better values if a guy is there, but I do NOT know b/c I have never been.

I was thinking that if a guy were to stay in Jakarta for a few weeks, maybe he would book one or two nights via internet, and then find something of better value, after arriving. I wonder whether that strategy would work in Jakarta? to get something decent and strategically located between $30-$50 per night?

How will you do it? Walking is not an option in Jakarta, 1km in a taxi can take 1 hour [Image: confused.gif]

You may be correct, and I suppose that is why I posed it as a question. I was considering if you get in the preferred area that you like, then there would likely be other hotels in the region.

However, Jakarta may be its own particular case in which internet is a better way to go, due the transportation logistical problems of that city.

The main thing is to avoid being on the road from 4-9pm. It can be bad earlier in the day but it will be GRIDLOCK during those hours. I only skimmed this thread but the important thing is to only use Blue Bird Taxi or Exspress if it hasn't been mentioned here already. Also a tip i picked up from a long time expat who works in the entertainment industry of Indonesia told me always sit in the passengers seat to have control of the vehicle a DHV to the driver of sorts; so he wont drive you in circles to run up the meter and such.

Agreed, you have to plan your day around the traffic.

TransCab is pretty good too. The problem I found with the knockoff or unlicensed cabs isn't that the drivers were intentionally dishonest, but rather they were retarded as fuck and the cars were comparatively pieces of shit. Usually a bit cheaper, though.

Indonesian women are good to go...I've had a very positive experience with an exchange student here in the USA a few years back. She was an Indonesian of Chinese ethnicity. One of the best bangs ever. In missionary, she had a way of wrapping her legs around mine down near the ankles that was nothing I had experienced before.

Would like to visit someday. Great write up, Soma.

The impression I get is that all the hot ones are of Chinese ethnicity. Native Indonesians are all Muslims and will not bang. Is this true?

I definitely found that the hotter ones are of Chinese ancestry. The girls you meet online are disproportionately Christian and/or Chinese compared to the general population. However, there are plenty of Muslim girls who will bang, no real problem there.

I was looking around on the internet for some info on Jakarta and came across this pic.

For the guys that have been, are these the upper tier girls in looks? I am guessing yes, but would appreciate confirmation.

Yes, these are the upper tier girls, as in much better than your average club slut, even at high end clubs.

Even it JKT, it's not easy to bang girls of this caliber, at least for me.

Indonesia has dozens, if not hundreds of ethnic groups, so I'm pretty sure she's mixed. She would look better, though, if she didn't make a stupid face. I like the one on the left. She looks very classy.

I agree on the mouth part - but I am speculating that a girl like that would have good teeth. What is awesome is none of them are fat [Image: biggrin.gif]

Always interesting how tastes differ...I would have picked the one seated in black, or the one standing playing with her phone.

Indo was a dutch colony for hundreds of years up to the late 1940's.

The 2nd, 3rd and 4th from the left look like mixed blood.. the 2nd from the left is clearly mixed with European blood. The left of the 2 standing looks ethnic chinese.

But for anyone else here, that's educated Indonesian women. Middle class will be slightly less groomed.
