Should I move to Chicago or NYC this summer? 26 y/o, from UK

You don't need a dog in the city. Loose the pooch.
The place will most likely be small. Like REEEEAAAALLLLYYYY small.

The Village is downtown and there's a lot going on.

What your plan for making money? NYC ain't cheap.

So, I've emailed a few places. Seems like only about 10% of places accept dogs, which I have.

I think I can share a 2br with a 23 year old girl who seems pretty cool in Stuyvesant Town, East Village for $1600 all inc. How does that sounds to you? Good area?

http://www.pcvstliving.com/ All rentals large villages kool vibe in Manhattan... Check out Airbnb might find a private space smaller for same $ from a landlord or sublease in decent logistical area - make sure there is not a long quarantine for your dogs coming into USA from UK... I worked in UK in 2004 and am still not allowed to donate blood for 10 years due to Mad Cow...

I read no rabies regarding animals in the UK but plenty in the USA - if you see an nocturnal animal out in broad daylight - raccoons, opossums or bats - likely rabid so quarantine going back to UK could be worse.

Hint: Use Google maps with satellite and street view - any place with great cafes and lounges nearby with good zagat's ratings (Zagat's now owned by Google so easy to see/add Zagat's ratings on Google Maps Google Earth) likely a fairly safe and upscale area with plenty of action within walking distance - If near giant projects use Google street view to see if Airbnb listings etc in "bad" areas (no rated cafes, run down buildings, no greenery/parks/plantings, crud logistics). Google is your friend for determining the quality of a neighborhood. Still in NYC use normal safety precautions in any big city - if out late and coming home with a prospective bang = cab it for both your safety until you know the immediate area and learn to navigate the subway.

In Boston or NYC I often take the T/Subway to get somewhere and then cab it back with a lady unless it is a great night and a short walk and you want to get her and you juices flowing. Medallion cabs in NYC and Boston very safe especially if you wait for the cab stand captain to hold you door and tip him he will only let you get into a proper cab known to him. I had an impatient bastard friend hail a cab and jump that cab stand - did not want to tip the cab captain - and it had been stolen by some delinquent kids - two hopped in the back and put a knife in his gut and told him to hand over his wallet and briefcase and watch - fortunately for him a NYC cabbie saw what happened realized it was a stolen cab and cut off the stolen cab and grabbed the dumb kids so he got his wallet and briefcase back but had to go back as a witness in the PIA stolen cab case - so get a feel for the area you are in and day versus night safety tips from the locals newstands, coffee shops, bar tenders are always reliable - they want you to be safe and come back as a repeat customer... Re pubs bars clubs - NYC Lounges practically invented for fast bang setup game. One of the top game experts likes to say in NYC don't drink while on the job - have your bartender who you should know by now after a week in the city give you soda water and lime on the rocks while you are bringing the special snowflake a few cosmos/cocktails and then slide back to your bang pad for a "nightcap" bang. Same for insta-bang coffee shop game logistics. In NYC or Boston etc Never take a bang prospect out for dinner until after she proves she is bang worthy after lounge or coffee shop bang game. Ladies beta surfing for 1st date free meals and no follow up sex dates is legendary in the USA. If they are dropping hints and mention eating and you are in a lounge or coffee shop - keep some veggies some fruit and cheese and crackers and cheap Moet champagne bottles in your bang pad fridge and when she is naked toast to her and feed her after you bang her. If she insists on anything else she is being difficult so excuse yourself like you are going to the men's room and just leave and go to your next lounge and orbiter in rotation - saves a fortune on fine dining surfers that nearly never put out. I and most of my associates only take them out to dinner after they have been bang certified and in solid steady lay rotation FWB style - then you are being a gentleman by feeding them in preparation for a solid evening of sport to follow as well as a solid morning lay after if that is what you want.

OBTW When I was in UK working and would go to a pub/beer garden/club they looked at me like I was a nutjob when I would try to leave a tip for the barman - thought they were being setup or on candid camera to see if they were honest - NYC is a big tipping culture - 15% to 20% for good to fair service in a salon or cafe or restaurant, a buck $1 a drink or coffee will do it in any bar or starbucks and then if a place is ultra hot with list/face control - it can take anywhere from a folded $20, $50 or $100 to get in like the owners brother. If it is a really busy place special event promo night etc might still have to wait if special detail NYPD/NYFD/Security have a counting clicker to make sure no one being let in over the max occupancy limit.

If I have great service from a good bartender - this works with males more so than females as females do not like to give away anything - I will tip him a $20 after tipping $1 a drink at the end of the night and say thank you to him for taking care of me when it was crazy busy... This would usually get me a great table or several times a VIP Card - no kidding I have several VIP cards that many bars/clubs give to preferred patrons from Boston to NYC to Honolulu just for doing the end of night $20 tip thing on a consistent basis - considering a hot spot will sell its VIP cards for $500 and up a free one from a good bartender pays for itself in NO waiting on busy nights and no doorman handshake needed as you are now a preferred customer - can often get you into private event parties as well - so VIP sections usually overblown poon deserts and no decent young ladies action - but a good VIP "door" card can be priceless in a place that clicks for you with plenty of female flow and conversions. Enjoy the city!

I think one thing to consider is where you fall in a society. I'd rather be top 1% in Colombia then top 20% in NYC for example.

In NYC you are likely to live a very mediocre lifestyle but I agree that one should experience NYC atleast once in there lifetime. I've only been once and enjoyed it thoroughly albeit on a much larger budget daily.

What I like about NYC is that, until you get to g manifesto level, it's really all about game and being in the right place at the right time.

In ATL it's often what kind of car you drive, what part of town are you in, what's your job, etc. I feel like in NYC, for all the low-to-mid-echelon girls, the fact that you "made it into the city" is enough and are just waiting for you to game them. It's like Manhattan is one big private party and you made it so fuck it let's have some fun. No one has a car, people don't care about your job unless it's super bad ass, and if you have more game than the standard NYU yuppie or Wall St. pimple face guy you should do well.

"...it's the quiet cool...it's for someone who's been through the struggle and come out on the other side smelling like money and pussy."

I asked if it will give him better money/opportunities in NYC vs Chicago.

He said no.

Therefore, the only change is cost of living. So living in NYC is more expensive.

Loads of cash is of course relative, so I'll say saving 60-70% of what you're taking in is stacking loads of cash (assuming you are happy with your current social + sex life).

Your entire 20's and low 30's should be majority cash chasing, not necessarily cash hoarding but that's easier in low cost of living areas.

Guys jet out on these adventures, then come back and make a paltry $80K a year in a major city, missing the major growth years of their careers. Good luck becoming a international player and having F you money on $20K savings a year. No chance. You can easily double up your income from 26 to 30, assuming you remake yourself constantly and take advantage of looking older.

Colombia, Missouri? I actually went there because my friend went to college there. I definitely would not want to live there. Nothing wrong with it, but not somewhere I'd ever consider living.

Plug in the street address on Google Earth or Google maps - show zagat's ratings and see and read any within a block or two and you have a decent area - no ratings within a residential area at all - bad area - Zagat's ratings are by volunteers and almost never lie - my experience is good zagat's guide rating - or yelp even - closeby and it is good area. HTH.

Bushwick is ghetto. Brooklyn is easy to figure out. The eastern and northern parts are bad. The west is good and the south up to around Flatbush ave. Queens is a bit cheaper by the way and has or use to have nicer clubs.Queens has almost every ethnicity on the planet living there. Albanian,Romanian, Greek, Spanish clubs. The non artsy areas of Brooklyn are mostly Italians who have not moved out to Staten Island or New Jersey and Russians. The Russians tend to date in their own gene pool or Jewish people(Israelis). Irish have been moving out for last 2 decades to Long island, Queens(Rockaway). Williams burg is Artsy but also has a large religious Jewish population and the Polish population it was once known for has stagnated. New Polish tend to flock to the Russian/EE areas. Williams burg is good to rent if you plan on going to Manhattan a lot.Park slope is the largest Lesbian population in the USA. It is their version of San Francisco. To be honest it isn't the best area to be bar hopping. You be better in Bay Ridge.Park Slope is a trendy area where day game with a dog probably works. Wouldn't know I am not a liberal and don't jive with that type of chick(wiccans, etc lol)
Avoid: Bushwick, Brownsville, East New York, Bed sty,Carnasie(was good 25 years ago) Flatbush. These are areas I was paid to fight crime. You won't want to be there lol.

I have to agree that the notion that working your ass off in your 20s and early 30s does not make any sense to me whatsoever.

It is the best time to just get out there and enjoy life. You don't need major money to have an awesome time.

I'm from Chicago, and even I'm recommending that you should try NYC if you've never done it before. A lot of people from Chicago tend to get pretty homerific & defensive about our town (as do New Yorkers about New York), but it is certainly true that there is only one city like NYC. Check it out if you have the means to do it for sure. Way more bimbo's, even more culture & international chicks to sample from than Chicago although Chicago certainly holds its own. Chicago is your best choice in the Midwest and it's cheaper, but it's not quite the same as NYC in terms of variety & scale.

Hi all,

I'm 26 (today actually!), from the UK and have been doing a lot of travelling around the world in the last two years.

I lived in Chicago last summer for 4 months and loved it. Made some good friends, got a few nice notches etc.

I had planned on going back and have a flight booked there for April 2nd.

I am now thinking maybe I should roll the dice again and try NYC (Brooklyn) instead.

I just spent a weekend in London and had such an amazing time. I love Chicago but there is so much going on in a place like London and it's so international, I know NYC to be the same.

Still, part of me thinks Chi has all you could need really anyways.

I understand it will be more pricey living in NYC, but it's not thaaat bigger difference is it really?

Any opinions?

What would you do in my shoes?

Any feedback, much appreciated. This forum never fails to deliver something of value on these sort of things.

Fair enough, no where in this did I mentioned "suffering".

I am just giving my opinion based on my biased view which is that anyone can become a millionaire by age 35 if they want to. That kind of money means sex drugs and alcohol for life, not just for a couple of years.

If this is which city is better for sex, since it is a player forum, NYC would be a no-brainer. Not even up for discussion. You don't even need a sweet apartment just bang the girl at her place.

It is nonsense to assume you can't get laid, get paid and have fun all at the same time. You absolutely can, you just need to be efficient as all hell. Sure maybe you only bang 12 or 20 girls a year instead of 40 or whatever your numbers may be, but its a complete lie to assume you can't do all of these things congruently.

If he has no biz changes to his life then sure choose whatever the hell, NYC is the best for pussy if that what the crux of the question is. Anyone can get laid there. Even a 21 y/o rookie beta.

Damn man, the guy works for himself and travels around the world and you want him to suffer like you so he can have fuck you money?

It sounds like he is already saying fuck you by working for himself and traveling.

Yeah, Westcoast.

Quit being a buzzkill and throwing salt on homeboys Game.

You would think this is a "retirement forum" for all your posts. Roll up a jay of some of that WestCoast green and kick back.

Ha.

Ha if anything this should be a dead giveaway that I think Chicago = better place to live versus NYC for a long-term stay. Girls there are better looking + more approachable, slut factor is lower (relative to NYC)

NYC is more of a fast paced bang bang ONS GTFO type of place. So IMHO it is better for a short trip.

2 weeks? = NYC not even close
4 months? = Chicago, better quality if you're willing to put in a date or two. Simple as that. Plus it sounds like he has some sort of inner circle going already.

For what its worth if he wants to go to NYC, brooklyn should be erased from this thread, just live in manhattan and get the real deal. Why go bush league if you're going to go to the big leagues then. But thats another point. All about maximizing your time.

Couldn't agree more. What you want is the opportunity to walk out of your apartment, onto the street, and inhale the fresh air that is Manhattan, on a daily basis. You're a (hopefully somewhat quick) cab ride away from an entire universe of possibilities.

The direction of this thread is basically like a guy saying he's considering buying a Lamborghini or a Porsche and it turning into a fuel economy and insurance discussion. Buy the Lambo, experience it in its fullest, and ditch it in a year or two if you want. You'll still always be able to say you owned a Lambo!

It's pretty simple, if you want fast bangs and lots of them, just go to NYC. If you want the "party experience" go out every day and you will easily bang a new girl every week.

Now if you want to get the best cash in investment just go to Chicago.

With that said, NYC is the only city where you can fly in on a late flight, pop an Ativan, go out and still pull off a ONS on no sleep. (Which will be attempted this week).

So NYC = cocaine, Chicago = weed. Pick your game choice.

Also living in Brooklyn = not the real NYC experience. There is manhattan then different planets. Living in Brooklyn is like living in Oakland and saying you lived in SF. It's a dirty lie and you should feel bad saying that outloud. That's how much manhattan living will help you get laid. Last thing you want to say is "let's go out to Brooklyn" it should be a cheap taxi at best when you go out.

Go to NYC and go all out, or go to Chicago and maximize your cash. Tough to give out advise with no goals laid out.

Ok so you aren't the dreary finance guy that you seem.

I also think you guys aren't giving Chicago enough credit.

It is America's "Second City".

And it dominates the entire West Coast (the place, not that buzzkill guy on the forum) on a foundational level.

I am actually surprised you're recommending him to go to NYC on $4K a month. That's nothing out there and you certainly know that as well.

If you're going to fuck around in NYC you may as well do it right. Party favors, rage on Tuesdays/Thursdays/Saturdays and Sundays. Recover in between.

You'd really go to NYC if I locked you up with $4K? (Hypothetical) I sure wouldn't, in a week it easy easy to drop a grand (that's with living expenses all covered on work).

Minimum $6K to have a boss time in NYC... I mean manhattan. I think people have a hard time discerning my posts between being "cheap and efficient". It's very different, I have dropped $600 fast on party favors to get high quality bangs. But I'm not going to go into a high end area with a c-note to my name and think I'm going to do damage in there. It's nonsense.

I weighed in with my opinion before the 4k figure came up.
