America is NOT the best country in the world.

America IS the greatest country HANDS DOWN!!. Do we have our cultural issues absolutely(very deep seated issues). Now, all these other places are cool. There women are more plentiful, but most places with hot women have dysfunctional societies compared to the US. The actual system, of the united states by enlarge is the most comprehensive, effective, and successful. Thats why even in our current depression, our GDP is %40 higher than any other single Nation. We make MONEY as a country, have the most powerful military, and the best marketing(American television). Have we been slipping YES, will we recover, YES!!! We have the most elasticity of any other place on earth.

America is NOT the best country in the world.

More tiresome 1960s Baby Boomer self-congratulation --pretty much the only generation still watching broadcast television anymore.

The worst generation in America's history, pretty much an entire failure of draft dodgers and pot heads, just can't stop jerking themselves off in public and then trying to call it sex afterwards.

The result? Painful to watch shitty videos like the one that started this thread.

Let me summarize: "My generation is great. All generations except mine are not. Let me recite a laundry list of things the writers were able to quickly google that may or may not be true depending on which source you cite. But don't blame my generation for not fixing these problems I'm now listing, despite us being around the longest and currently holding all the power and authority. After all, we're not about fixing, we're just about griping. My character is really smart and knows everything, or at least so it appears as long as all the other actors follow the script and the editor leaves out all the bad takes. In reality, I'm just an actor, I get paid to recite scripts out loud, and I just drove to the Apple store for the third time this week to get a 17 year old to fix my smart phone for me."

"Alpha children wear grey. They work much harder than we do, because they're so frightfully clever. I'm awfully glad I'm a Beta, because I don't work so hard. And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid. They all wear green, and Delta children wear khaki. Oh no, I don't want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse. They're too stupid to be able to read or write. Besides they wear black, which is such a beastly color. I'm so glad I'm a Beta."

I found that video so annoying the first time I saw it I don't even want to watch it again.

The reason everyone thinks it's so "honest" is because of the deliberately "dishonest" presentation: Jeff Daniel's apparent anger, cowed reactions of the crowd, the scripted softball question from the "sorority girl", the meaningless platitudes from the rest of the panel: all conspire to maximize the apparent authenticity of the rant.

There's only about 25 seconds of actual argument, roughly 1:10 to 1:35, and if you pay close attention the actual argument isn't what he says it is. He says "there's no evidence America is the greatest country," but what he's actually doing is citing evidence for the argument that America is not the greatest country. It's a subtle difference that's easy to miss, because it would be admitting that girl's presumption is at least possibly valid. The rest of the video is reminiscing with rose-colored glasses, which he gets away with because the writers don't script in anyone to challenge him.

America is NOT the best country in the world.

USA is the best country in the world to make money if you are really capable.
The main reason is that there is place for youth meaning the old guard does not control everything. This can be good or bad however in Europe to get key positions you need to have white hair or no hair.Americans let the young try and fail.

I see it in Greece. The baby boomers never listened to us when we warned about the inevitable crisis. The crisis was caused by them. They thought they would be secure by keeping their privileges at the top of the food chain.Fatal mistake.Though they thought they would be able to pass their accumulated debt to next generations (wrong) their pensions are now in danger as the youth unemployment stands at 60% and noone is going to work for them.Having created a social conflict and breakdown they see the youth radicalizing itself in extreme right and left formations exactly for a chance to get to power and refuse to pay the debt.
This would be a lethal case for baby boomers.

Nothing new here. There are enough visible signs that America is in decline. Problem is that is hard to accept, and as a non-American, I feel like the American who said that "I mourn the loss of a great nation. Many will rejoice as America falls, but I will not. I will mourn for a mighty Republic that has fallen and for a dream that has been lost."

The US in 2013 is a nation like many others, but still more powerful than most nations on this planet. Unfortunately only people who have lived abroad for a substantial amount f time, like Roosh, are painfully aware of this decline.

The US has not disappeared, fortunately. It has just become a nation among so many others. Hate it or love it, but globalization is a one-way ticket.

America is NOT the best country in the world.

(Reuters) - Forbes's 2013 list of the world's richest people includes 1,426 billionaires, a record number, with a total net worth of $5.4 trillion, up from $4.6 trillion in the previous ranking.

Following are key facts from the ranking.

There are 210 new billionaires from 42 countries, including 27 from the United States. The average net worth of those on full list has risen to $3.8 billion from $3.7 billion. Sixty people have dropped off the list and eight have died.

The Asia-Pacific region saw the biggest number fall off the list with 29, followed by the United States, which lost 16.

The United States had the most billionaires with 442, followed by Asia-Pacific with 386, Europe with 366, Middle East and Africa with 103 and the Americas, excluding the United States, with 129.

American corporatism and globalism dominates the world. Our music and culture is the envy of the world not to mention Hollywood. Sure were not perfect, nobody is but like a guy above me said. If we arent the best then who is? Everyone loves America and those who dont are just simply haters who probably still watch Disney movies like Kim Jong Un or Kim Jong IL in North Korea.

I dont' want to get too deep on you, but think about what you wrote.

You are equating "freedom" with "access to entertainment."

It's not just you. That's the dominant view of what freedom means to most Americans. Also add in, "Freedom to be fat." Not the outrage over NYC's ban on Big Gulp drinks.

Sure we may have drones flying overhead. We may incarcerate more people than anywhere else in the world. But if I can stay inside watching DirectTV and eating Papa John's, who cares?

Americans are the best for improvisation and putting into mass production.I am not sure how they manage that.Europeans are better in perfecting machines with attention to detail.A lot of inventions like phones, AC current started in America but were advanced in Europe.
Germans are great engineers and inventors and since 60 millions of Americans are of German ancestry they have improvisation capabilities as well. Also English are known for economics, management and naval capabilities as well as trade and industrial inventions ones, Jews have won more than 100 Nobel prices in every sector and America has plenty of them so it is normal in some ways to be ahead of other nations.
Lack of wars on American ground and large US and South America resources have also played role (some European countries like Germany have limited resources and others like Russia are full of resources but very weak in infrastructure and invested capital).

Generally what they seem to do in America is to get from every nationality the best stuff:
1.Cars,enginering from Germans
2.Economics, world trade, finance from English
3.Banking from Jews
4.Fashion, clothes from Italians
5.Luxury products from French
Etc.
It is due to competitive environment.

Obviously, pretty much every western nation.

The "greatest" nation concept is ridiculous notion. There is no best country for all.

US is a cool place though. Lots of extremely good aspects, lots of extremely bad aspects. It's a country of extremes more than perhaps any other.

One irritating thing in these arguments is the "freedom" bullshit. It's 2013, people are at least as "free" in the EU countries, Canada, Oz etc.

On a positive note, everyone should appreciate the size and scale of the US. Long may it grow!

While it's true that belief that US "freedom" is exclusive is silly, it's nevertheless an important American value and just because other countries have it too doesn't mean it's not a valid answer to a question about American greatness. (Though see my post above for my opinion about whether that's anything remotely like a good question)

The more you start taking freedom for granted the easier it is to take that freedom away.

People are scrambling to come to the U.S. to make their fortunes rather than the other way around.

It's fun to shit all over the U.S. Live in a cosmopolitan place like SF, LA, or NY. People come here from all these "great" countries to make big money.

In the U.S. if you can't find a way to make money, you are doing it wrong.

The fact is the US is much easier to start a business. LLCs alone help that, and much easier tax system and government rules for starting a business.

There's plenty of freedom here. For one, in France Muslim Women can't even cover their heads. That would never stand here in America. In England people aren't even allowed to carry a Knife around for any reason.

Do Americans really think it has the best quality of life in the world/ is particularly enjoyable

Places off top of my head which are better to live

France
All of Scandinavia
Iceland
Singapore
Hong Kong
Dubai
Australia
Canada
Rich parts of Caribbean such as Bermuda
Switzerland
Germany
Could probably find more

France - how is the job market there, good luck finding a job.
Scandinavia - great place to visit, expensive and long winters
Iceland - too cold, not many jobs as even locals are leaving.
Singapore - what is there do for fun, can't even spit on the sidewalk.
Hong Kong - do I really have to list the reasons.
Dubai - a "liberal" muslim country, can't even have sex on the beach.
Australia - too isolated and seems to have it's problems as well.
Canada - safer than USA but job market sucks.
Caribbean (Bermuda) - far too small and quite frankly it sucks.
Switzerland - how are the beaches?
Germany - bland, small minded and how easy is it to progress in the job market if you are not german?

Nice points!

Not to mention:

France: How much are they getting taxed? If I recall, a huge French actor moved to Russia because he was being taxed 75% of his earnings.

Scandinavia: Again, high ass taxes. In many of these countries the upper class are paying for the lower class to live. Fuck that!

Dubai: Really? Good luck fucking fine girls in Dubai

Switzerland: Anyone I've talked to that has lived there said it is boring as fuck. It's only good to make money. That's coming from a good 10 people, every single one of them said it's boring as fuck.

Sure, a lot of these places, it's easy to make a comfortable living. But in many of these places you aren't gonna see a doctor with a 4 car garage like you will see in the states. These places are good places to be an average citizen. But if you want to make real big bucks, there's no where better to make your business other than the good ol' US of A. "America, fuck yeah! Kiss my ass and suck on my balls."

But seriously. I guess it all comes down to preference when you are talking about the greatest country on earth. But if you look at it in terms of economics, military, and technology, America has all 3. There are countries that can compete with America in one category, but fall behind in one or two of the other.

The US economic decline is temporary, and based on demographics. America is still dealing with its 70 million strong post WW II Baby Boom born 1945-1964, now a giant gray wave of retirees and senior citizens larger than the entire population of Canada combined, that will drive down real estate, the stock market, bankrupt most social programs, and in general drag down the US economy from now until they all die, roughly around 2024.

Long term, it'll be a hiccup that the US will recover from. The solution is already known: wait for enough of the old baby people to die and it'll fix itself.

But for the next decade, the US will be up to its armpits in gray haired, useless, smelly, old hippies, 1/3 of which are entering retirement with no savings at all.

You seem to be defining as "cosmopolitan" those cities that attract people from other rich countries. In that case, I don't think any of the cities you mention are particularly cosmopolitan except for NY, and even it isn't any more cosmopolitan than other financial centers (and I'd say less cosmopolitan than London, which has far more expats from rich Europe, many Americans, Japanese, etc). SF is basically a center of old boomers surrounded by third world slums - not cosmopolitan at all. The expat population there is tiny.

SF might be referring to Silicon Valley, which definitely has a large number of expats who move there to start or join technology companies.
