They don't make practical daily drivers anymore, but I've always had a soft spot for American 'mid-size' and full-size cars from the late 1960s and 70s. Most of these are fairly reasonable as vintage cars go; there's not as much demand as there is for vintage muscle cars like the Mustang, say. I like them stock though and unfortunately a lot of the survivors have been hooptied-out, probably.

Ah,my type of car guy. I thought I was the only one who liked these types of cars . Especially the big body cars built in the 70's.

That Buick Electra,I'd give it some tasteful mods with a factory look to it.

Sway bars front and rear to help with cornering. A modern transmission and a build engine build that looks like it just rolled of the production line.

The 71 ambassador reminds me of the 70 Monte Carlo from that angle .

Yep. I think I like the Electra the best of the bunch, with the Cutlass a close second.

When I was very young it wasn't uncommon at all to still see some of these out on the road as daily drivers. Gran drove a '77 Caprice Classic until the day she died in the late 1990s.

No shit?

Haha the 77-79 caprices are some of my favorite cars from the late 70s especially the two door. Last year found one in MINT condition for under 2gs. I read that these cars that came equipped with the 350 v8 (though they didn't make much power from the Factory the aftermarket for these engines could solve that( and f-41 suspension package was a fun car to drive.

Still wouldn't mind having one in a two door

[Image: 09-08-2012-045.jpg]. If I had the cash and found one in this condition I'd buy it in a heartbeat

I have a 76 that I can build as a project car,for now it's sitting in my aunts back yard rusting away.

Incase you never seen the later year novas before they turned into hot pockets

All junk and try hard.

I like the Audi R as a supercar.

I am picking one of these up for the summer.

2001 Chev Suburban. 187,000Km. Second owner bought it 6 months ago from the original farmer who has all the records in a binder in the glove box. Asking $3900, will offer $3200 cash.

70% on the tires, solid front end still.

Taking the family on another month long camping trip around BC and Alberta.

I like those old vortec motors, my family still has an old 2001 Chev 3/4 tonne with 280,000km that has never had any issues. New front end a couple years ago was about $1200.

These old Suburbans are tanks, but lots of comfort. I looked at renting one, but for the month it was $4k. So for that price I can buy an old one, put a bit of work into it if necessary and sell it in the fall.

I've been looking at sports cars, specifically vettes.

My current ride is a really boring awd sedan, but it's got low miles and I got it new. It just has no balls. Especially compared to my sportbike that's close to 200hp.

Looked at some C6 vettes, used, but they had too much shit wrong with them even though they were cheap. Like throwing codes, signs of abuse and neglect, etc.

Then I sat in a new C7. Excellent bolsters and interior compared to the C6, and I dig the looks. 450hp. 7 speed manual. Removable glass top. Electronic adjustable suspension.

Doing the math, it's in the noise of what I can afford when considering 0% interest. If I get rid of the bike I can also cut down on the insurance of car+bike. I rarely need 4 seats, and went ~4 years with a much less powerful 2 seat 'vert.

It's calling me. But spending 50k on a vehicle just seems like madness. Even when I can afford it.

I'm trying to decide on a 90s sports car. Those bitches were good in my opinion, not full of wonky electronics like today's cars. Finding one that hasn't been modded to shit with a bunch of cheap parts will take time but I prefer them stock.

Late 90s 300zx, in particular the twin turbo
Late 90s 3000GT VR-4, in particular the twin turbo too.

T-Tops > Coupe > Convertible.

My finger is itchy towards a 00-02 Camaro SS 35th aniv. They're like 20K

Some nice shapely rides here. Much better than the wardrobes on wheels you find all over Europe.

But sometimes the French can come up with something:

I’ve been looking at getting myself a new vehicle. So far the contenders are:

Jeep Wrangler
Subaru WRX
Subaru Crosstrek

I need something good in the snow. I loved test driving the WRX and I know el mech rates it highly but I’m concerned about the ground clearance as I have to drive on a dirt road that partially washes out sometimes. The Crosstrek is practical (perhaps a bit boring) but lacking in acceleration. I’m leaning towards the Wrangler. Very fun to drive in it’s own unique way.

If only you knew how bad things really are.

Get Toyota 4Runner or Ford Explorer or similar.

Gave away my Hyundai Sonata to my family, in preparation of becoming an expat.

I hate cars.

Can't wait to live in a place where I have no need for one.

I prefer a manual transmission. Maybe a Tacoma?

Just test drove a Subaru Forester manual...actually very nice handling and decent acceleration. 2018 was the last of the stick shifts. Definitely a car for gay Hillary or Bernie supporters though...

I suppose I could always put a Sig Sauer, Trump, and Gadsden Flag sticker on it... On second thought I’d definitely get keyed when parked in Boston.

All of those are good cars, it's the people they attract that you have to be mindful of, for you will be associated with them.

Tacoma is a good truck. So is Frontier. In Boston? How's the parking/street width over there?

If you want to really be an asshole, get an F150 with a lift kit. They make it with a manual.
