Flying to Puerto Princesa on Palawan island in two days, anyone been there or have any info to share?

I'm going to spend a few days in PP, the largest city on the island and gather some intel for the forum and hopefully hook up with some local ladies, actually, that's a given, this is Philippines.

On Saturday I'm meeting up with an old friend from Nova Scotia, a girl who is on a three week break from her English teaching gig in Korea. We're going to catch a bus up to El Nido and then a ferry to the island of Coron. I plan on diving in both of those spots, they're both world class diving locations (lots of wrecks). Also plan on visiting the underground river cave just outside of PP. If anyone has other suggestions, I'm all ears.

Spent the last two weeks in Dumaguete and Bohol, I had a messed up itinerary and bounced between the two places a couple of times with friends. I was supposed to spend a few days in Bohol with this Canadian guy I met in Thailand, but I had to bounce after having a crazy experience which involved drugs, fake police, attempted extortion and me running like crazy away from a gang of local thugs, not a good time!

Boracay isn't a hellhole if you already have a chick. It's just a hellhole for picking up. If you find a girl you really like, then go there you should enjoy it.

True, I went here with my Russian girl and it was great. The nightlife wasn't too great though but at that moment i didn't care.

NN wrote in his book that he picked up at least two girls a day. His junkie friend too according to him. Perhaps a grain of salt was applied. Like I said, I didn't try it out for myself but overall it's a couples island. I can say that after spending 15 days there. Not many single girls around.

Good advice, I'm debating whether to go there or not, looks like I should find a girl to take there, shouldn't be a problem.

I've been in Puerto Princesa, Palawan for a over 24 hours now, very nice city and have already gamed three girls, one from a mall, one from online and another from a market where her mom introduced her daughter to me haha. I'll be here until Saturday, then I catch a bus to El Nido, I'll stay there for a few days and will also hit up the island of Coron. Palawan has a lot of potential and beautiful areas, I'll be sure to post as much data as I can.

Have you considered doing the journey from PP to El Nido by (rented) motorbike instead of bus?

No, didn't know that you could do that. I was planning on taking a bus up there because I'm meeting two friends in PP and we're going to go up there together.

I rented a scooter today to rip around PP, saw some motorbikes too, I may look into it, especially if they do organized tours.

Here are a few shops that do bike rentals if you're interested. And more.

If the roads are still as bad as they were when I was there in 2010 then I would highly advice against taking a motobike. You'll see what I mean when you see the road.

Take the local bus (not the tourist one) and experience the real Phils.

Damn, we could have met up in PP, I've been here since Tuesday and am leaving tomorrow for El Nido and then Coron. I heard that El Nido is having its annual "fiesta" now, should have been a good time was it?

I'll be up in El Nido and Coron for about a week, not sure where I"m going after but will likely fly to Manila from Coron and on from there.

Yeah, El Nido is a OK place for chilling and relaxing. The beach in El Nido is nasty so there is point of going there if you're not going to do some Island hopping. be sure to take the A-tour if you do, that's the best one. I booked it for 700pesos from the Ricson Bar at the beachside, it also included the tastiest meal I ever had in
The Phils. Only the food was worth 700 pesos.

However, I got bored after a few days so I decided to leave. I didn't see almost any local girls to hook up with there, except bartenders and waitresses. But in the evenings the beachside is literally boiling with Swedish girls, I could hear Swedish almost everywhere! Maybe you are interested of them. I didn't care about them however.

A pity we couldn't meetup! Now I'm preparing for Cebu and looking on some places to stay.
I can write a report about Manila later, because it was quite funny.

Cheers.

In Cebu I stay at Richmond Plaza Hotel, its close to Ayala Mall, rooms are about 1200P, they'll give you a deal if you're staying a few days. Also you can check out Grand Prix, other RVF guys have stayed there and like it, its really close to Mango Square, where's you'll likely party.

There's basically two options: Tiki Bar and warehauz 45, both on Rizal. I recommend staying at Moana Hotel which is also on Rizal and about 20M from warehauz 45 and a 10P tricycle ride from Tiki. Nightlife isn't great here but those are the two main places to hit up. If you can, check out the underground river in sabang, about 50 Km from PP, I regret not doing it but I went diving instead, I may hit that up if I go back to PP.

Flew into Manila this afternoon from Coron, finished up a ten day stint on the Island of Palawan so I'll break it down for you guys:

Puerto Princesa City: Flew in PPC direct from Cebu on Tuesday afternoon and stayed there for four days. At 220,000 people, its the largest island on the island and is quite pleasant and very clean, for a Filipino city, the city prides itself as being "Clean and Green".

All of the action in PPC in centered along the main street, Rizal Avenue, which is conveniently the street you go on as you exit the airport, which is downtown. This is where the better bars, restaurants, cafes and fast food joints are in the city and where I recommend staying.

I stayed at Hotel Moana, a decent place with tidy rooms with AC and WIFi for 1000P/night, it is run by an Italian guy and the restaurant has good food there, also a nice pool there. The hotel also has a dive shop and they have good rates for guests, I paid 3000 for two dives, not bad. Hotel Moana is located right next door to Warehauz 45, the second best nightclub/bar in town, across the street is a big KTV/hooker bar.

Night life: Like most other smaller cities, it isn't great and there seems to be a lot of prostitution in the city, judging by the number of KTV bars. One night I went into a couple of them and they are all similar, just a bunch of hookers and busted dudes singing karaoke. However there are two decent options:

Tiki Bar: By far the best spot in town, its a fair sized resto bar/club with very good live entertainment every night, they have two pool tables and the food is very good as well, especially the sizzling seafood which I highly recommend. I went there every night I was in PPC because its the best and really there aren't a lot of other options.

Warehauz 45: I went there twice because it was convenient and only about 20M from my hotel, my strategy was to meet a girl at the Tiki Bar, have a few drinks then suggest we bounce to Warehauz 45, have a couple more drinks then over to the hotel, it worked, once (more on that later). They have a live band every night and quite a few local girls there who are keen on meeting a foreign guy, as elsewhere in the Philippines.

Again, other than that, there aren't too many places I saw that weren't hooker bars or just shitty holes in the wall.

Day game locations: I suggest hitting up Robinson's mall, its big and new and not very far from Rizal, maybe ten minutes on a tricycle. I went there shortly after I arrived in PPC and got the number of a really cute girl (light skinned Filipina) as soon as I walked in, she ended up flaking on me two days later. There's a couple of okay restaurants in there, a cinema and at least one coffee shop with WIFI.

Public market: A bit grimy but a good place to get some food, I went there to pick up some salted squid and got a number off a girl working there. Met her that night at Tiki bar but she showed up with a friend (surprise, surprise!) and was rather shy and glued to her phone so I ditched her.

Internet Game: Same as everywhere else, quite a few girls on the regular sites, I met up with one at Tiki Bar but did not bang, she had to go to El Nido and I met up with her there later. She was really cool and had a scooter too, so she took me to a few nice places around PPC.

Scooter game: I had a scooter the entire time there, rented for 400P/day, there's a bunch of rental places on Rizal. After two days there I was getting pissed off and discouraged because the three girls I gamed, all on my first day, turned out to be duds. It was Thursday evening and getting late, around 7PM and I knew that since I didn't get any girls on the go that day, I'd likely have another lonely night. Then I was on my way back to the hotel and I saw these two girls walking so I stopped and chatted them up for a minute and got one of their numbers.

Later that night she met me at Tiki Bar, we drank quite a bit then bounced to Warehauz 45 and a couple of her friends showed up, including a weird lady boy (aren't they all weird?). After a few more drinks she was grabbing my cock under the table so I took that as I sign and we left to my hotel where I proceeded to bang her a couple of times, then another time in the morning. she was cute, the second cutest I've had in the Phils and at 19 she had such a tight body, nice round ass and big firm tits. I was stoked to get this girl and was planning on taking her up to El Nido, as per chaos' advice.

My last night there was friday and forum member Innuendo showed up and checked into my hotel, we partied a bit and he took out a girl he met online, she was fine, very pretty face. We had a few drinks at Tiki and Warehauz then just went back to the hotel and we both smashed our girls. I had to dive the next day at 7am, I left the girl in the room and told her I'd be back by 12 and then would catch the bus at 2pm to El Nido.

I show up and the girl isn't there but she decided to organize all of my shit and also left a lot of here things: shoes, bags, dresses, clothes, etc. I eventually get a knock at my door and its this girls' lady boy friend and she's pissed saying my girl ripped her off, then she tried to start taking her clothes that she saw hanging up. I pushed the tranny the fuck out my room and told her to leave, then she shows up with two other girls. I told them all to fuck off, then called my girl but she didn't answer, I had to leave to El Nido soon so I decided that this girl, although pleasant to be with and pretty hot, wasn't worth the drama.

I left her things with Innuendo who was staying another day and then took the bus to El Nido. She calls me later asking why I left without her and I just said "you're too much trouble" and she seemed okay. I told her Innuendo had her things and she could get them from her.

Innuendo runs into her that night at Tiki Bar and tells her to come get her shit, she showed up at his place late at night to get his things and that horny little thing jumps right on him and as he described it, "she basically raped me" hahaha, I'm finally Eskimo Brothers with an RVF member!

Anyway, here's somethings that you can do for fun in PPC, although I think I stayed there too long, 2 days should be fine.

-Crocodile Farm: Nothing special but it was cool to see some of the Palawan crocs, both salt and fresh water, the tour took about 20 minutes. Best part was the indigenous Palawan Bear Cat that they have there, they put banana cream on your hand and it crawls on your back to lick it off and you take pics.

-Baker's Hill- Good place to have lunch, its a family park area with a few different tourist shops and restaurants, nice quaint architecture and has some kind of Alice in wonderland theme to it.

-Prisoner Colony- I didn't make it there but you tour a prison and the inmates do some kind of synchronized dances and sell trinkets that they make.

-Under ground river- This is the main attraction in PPC, I didn't make it because I went diving instead but apparently its on of the top 8 natural wonders of the world. Innuendo went and he wasn't that impressed and neither was another guy I spoke to. Its a long day of driving and being in a boat to see about forty minutes of the cave.

-Diving- Some decent diving here, mainly reefs, nothing too crazy but a good day of diving. I didn't go far out though, apparently its better out there.

so there it is, the DL on PPC, a lot of travelers start there as I did then take the 6 hour bus to El Nido, many others arrive in Coron first, then go to El Nido and finally PPC, all are great options.

I'll do a write up on El Nido and Coron soon.

El Nido, Palawan:

El Nido is a tourist hot spot on the northern tip of Palawan island, its a 5 to 6 hour van ride from PPC, which costs 700P and is one of the bumpiest rides I've ever been on but worth it. I met up with a friend of mine from Nova Scotia who is in the Philippines with her boyfriend after they finished their contract teaching in Korea, they met a crowd of people in Boracay so I hung out with them.

The town has a population of about 35,000 is spread out between a few surrounding communities, you'll want to stay near the main strip in the Buena Suerte area, this is where all of the hotels, dive shops, cafes and bars are. There's a beach there but it isn't very nice, its full of boats taking tourists out but the cove itself is surrounded by some nice big rock hills and there's some bars right on the beach.

Hotels: first night we stayed at La Banana hostel (600P/night) and it was a complete dump and reminded me of why I don't like hostels, although I had a private room, it was a shit hole. It was however conveniently located near all of the action and had a decent restaurant on the beach. The next two days we stayed at Pensione Katrina, a couple of blocks away from the beach, at 1000P/night it was much better than the hostel and on a nice quiet street.

Basically I didn't do too much in El Nido, after drinking my face off in PPC I wasn't in party mode, so I chilled most of the time. Best thing I did was the island hopping tour, as Chaos suggested, I went with tour "A" and it was excellent, some of the best beaches I ever saw, caves, snorkeling, delicious lunch and we had unlimited rum on the boat for an extra 100P.

I didn't do any diving and I regret it as El Nido has some excellent spots but I had just dove in PPC and knew that I'd go wreck diving in Coron.

Restaurants: A few decent options, we ate at Art Cafe, Alternaive restaurant and Habibi's, all had good food and Habibi's, which is right on the beach also had very good shisha to smoke.

Night life: Not many options outside of the bars and cafes along the beach, nothing too wild going on in El Nido, the only bar I heard with loud music, Asylum, was full of hookers.

Fiesta: Each town in the Philippines has an annual fiesta and we were lucky to be in El Nido during theirs, although it wasn't any thing too exciting. On Saturday night they had "Miss El Nido 2013" beauty pageant and on Sunday they had "Miss Gay El Nido 2013" for all of the local Trannies, only in SE Asia!

These small tourist towns aren't very great for chasing local women unless you plan on banging whores, Innuendo joined me a day later and we went into Asylum to see if any were shoreable, but they all lived there so there wasn't anyway around paying the 2000P bar fine, so we said screw that, drank a couple of beers and I sang a karaoke song, Hello by Lionel Richie in case you're wondering.

I didn't actually meet any Swedish chicks there, Germans, Americans and canadians mostly. Its funny but I don't think I've met any Aussies in the Philippines so far. Of the two nights that we were there, didn't hook up with any tourists women, hung out with the group my friend was with but the girls weren't the best. Three of them were annoying Jewish girls from NYC, a fat German one, a cute German one who went home early and a Canadian turbo-skank with huge boobs from Kelowna who banged something like five guys in two days, I wasn't one of them.

Actually Innuendo and I were talking about this last night, strategies for hooking up with the tourist girls because its something that neither of us have had much luck with. We figure that its best to do day tours every day and meet the girls then, ask them out for a drink later that night when the tour is done and go from there. We did this in Coron and almost captured a couple of Latina flags until we were massivly C-blocked by a couple of beta orbiting Euro-weenies, more on that story later.

so, the deal with El Nido is that there's beautiful beaches, nice island touring and great diving. Apart from that, there isn't a hell of a lot to do and I would suggest two days there as being enough.

Coron data coming up later.....

Coron: The last stop in Palawan

After a couple of days in El Nido, we decided to hit up Coron next, so we booked the tickets for the boat, which left at 8AM. Word of advice, book your tickets early, probably best to do it as soon as you arrive in El Nido, because the bigger, better ones fill up fast and you may be stuck with one of the smaller, shittier ones as happened to us. Also, the boat ride is a brutal 7-8 hours and you will get wet, although lunch is served, it is small, so pack some snacks and water.

After the gruelling 8 hour boat ride from El Nido, we arrived in Coron and checked into the Sea Coral hotel, its centrally located downtown and at 1000P/night, slightly overpriced for such a small hotel room, but they had AC, WIFI and hot water so I was okay with that. On the second day there, the grandfather died and they had his wake downstairs in the hotel lobby, the hotel staff asked me if I was okay with staying there or if I wanted to change hotels, well I didn't feel like changing hotels, so I just negotiated 100P off my rate for having to pass by an open cask on my way to my room!

So, the town of Coron is basically a small little shit hole similar to El Nido, I made the mistake of staying right in the town in both places and regret doing so as I didn't get good sleep in either place because I woke up to loud motorbikes, roosters and in Coron, to the sound of banging hammers on the construction site next door. I would recommend staying a couple of kms away from the downtown areas of each place, that's usually where the nicer hotels are anyway and they're easily reached by tricycle for 10P.

We were only there for two full days, the first day we decided to go diving. Coron is world famous for its wreck diving and for 2700P, we dove three awesome Japanese war ships which were sunk by the USA back in 1944, it was spectacular, the best diving I've done so far and the highlight of our stay in Coron.

Innuendo went island hopping and he really enjoyed it, his pics were awesome and he did some nice snorkeling too, I had done island hopping in El Nido so decided to pass. I did however rent a scooter and went on a little adventure, I drove it about 40 kms past the airport down dirt roads through small villages where I suspect that they don't see too many tourists. Honestly, I didn't see anything too spectacular, a few nice view points over looking the water, but nothing even worth taking photos of.

Nightlife: Similar to El Nido, it sucks. They have a couple of KTV bars full of hookers but other than that no real nice night clubs from what I saw. There is one decent place that we went to with good food, karaoke and apparently its the place to be on the weekends, I forget the name but it has the word "grill" in it and is about 2 kms past downtown on the way to the airport, its on the left. This is the place we went to the only night we partied, which is when the worst cock block of my life happened, I wrote about that in the game section: http://www.rooshvforum.network/thread-22074.html

Actually I forgot to mention that we took those two latina girls into a KTV club because they wanted to sing karaoke and they tried to charge the girls 200P each for entry, guys free, of course but we decided to pass.

So after two days in Coron, we hopped on a Skyjet flight directly to Manila. We had a decent time there mainly because of the awesome diving but I didn't like Coron as much as El Nido because the main drag downtown isn't on a beach as it is in El Nido, although some nice beaches are accessible, either by boat or half an hour away by scooter.

Overall, the small towns of El Nido and Coron are very nice places to spend a couple of days each, especially if you're into diving, island hopping, eating seafood and spending time on secluded beautiful beaches. They aren't however very good places to game women, the locals aren't keen on hooking up with random foreigners and the ones out in the clubs are mostly hookers. There wasn't an abundance of back packer foreign chicks getting drunk and partying, I saw more couples there than anything. I would still recommend both places to go but it would be in your best interest to take a girl from somewhere else with you, I tried to in PPC but it didn't work out.

Innuendo and I just spent three days at the famous rice terraces in Banaue, ten hours north of Manila by bus, info on that coming up later.

I'm sitting at the airport in Manila after being on a bus for ten hours from the town of Banaue. I can't believe I'm actually saying this but I can't wait to get to Cebu and hit up that skank fest known as Mango Square and finally get some tail, I just had a ten day dry spell in the Philippines, I should probably be kicked off this forum or at least have my rep points taken away, but I digress.

So, after our tour of Palawan, Innuendo had the bright idea of visiting the world famous ancient Filipino rice terraces in the town of Banaue. A friend of mine who I trust also recommended seeing them so I thought what the heck, lets do it!

We left Coron on a Friday morning and arrived in Manila, I wanted to stay the weekend to party or at least Friday to end my, at that time, week long dry spell. Innuendo wasn't keen on staying in Manila because he didn't like it his first time there and I can't say I blame him too much as it is a fucking shit hole.

So we hung out around Manila all day, mostly at the Starbucks near the University of Santo Tomas, I don't even know where in the city this is but I know that it is a day game gold mine and the campus is actually quite nice, a real diamond in the rough. Then we got on the 10PM bus a headed out on a very shitty 10 hour ride north to Banaue, thank God Innuendo had some Valium so we popped those and I was out for pretty much the entire trip.

We woke up in Banaue and got off the bus and I could already tell that this place was a shit hole and I hated it! Hustlers and touts surrounded us yapping their heads off trying to get us to go tho their hotel. We found a little cafe with internet and sat there for awhile until we found a hotel, the People's Lodge, which is right on the main street. At 700P/night it was a decent place, they had WIFI, no need for AC in this mountain town. The town is situated in a valley and surrounded by rice terraces, there's actually some decent views from the hotels.

Moma: No I'm not referring to our RVF member by the same name, I'm referring to a drug that these mountain hillbillies chew. I saw a sign that said "No spitting moma juice here", so I asked a guy what moma is and he offered me some. Basically its betel nut, they rip of the bark, split the shell in half and wrap it in a mint leaf, add tobacco leaf and a powder made of ground up snail shell. They chew on this shit and spit out this red juice, the streets are literally covered in this shit and about 80% of the male population chews it and their teeth are all fucked up, rotted and stained. Of course, I tried it and it was disgusting, I didn't chew long enough to see if there were any euphoric effects.

Rice Terraces: Yes they are about as exciting as they sound, on our first day we took a tricycle about a hour away on a really shitty road then hiked for an hour through some stone wall rice terraces to a hot spring, it was okay but nothing special. Maybe I'm being a bit pessimistic here, but I wasn't that impressed, yes they are a UNESCO world heritage site and I appreciate the fact that they are an impressive feat of engineering considering that were built 3000 years ago, but all the same, I wasn't feeling it. The tour took about four hours of driving and hiking, a pleasant afternoon.

Those were the Banaue rice terraces, we arrived back at our hotel and Innuendo tells me that the next day we're going to the Batad rice terraces, which are much more impressive and require a lot more hiking, about six hours in total. I'll spare you guys the details, but it was brutal, the roads were shit, it was raining, mud everywhere, roads blocked off due to big trucks going into the ditches, etc. The rice terraces were the same as the other ones we saw the previous day, seen one rice terrace, ya seen em all!

Really what we should have done is what the two hot Swedish girls we met on the hike did: take the overnight bus from Manila, arrive in Banaue, take a tricycle to batad, hike three hours to the terraces, three hours back then catch the evening bus back to Manila.

Instead we wasted three days in that shit hole, ON A WEEKEND! Oh well, we didn't get drunk and to be honest I've been drinking so heavily since I've been in the Philippines that my liver deserved a break.

So guys, if you're dead set on seeing the rice terraces, do what the Swedish girls did and not what I did, get there, see them and then get the fuck out!

@Scotian Im not sure wether you have been to Cebu before, but I´d defenatly check out the early night game at Ayala Mall. If you are into shoring you could do that here, but also many regular girls hanging out... Mango is full of prostitutes to, some of them are "the clever kind" and will steal from your hotelroom if they can and they can create BIG drama for you at the hotel. I am not into prostitutes myself, but I know people in Cebu and I have heard the stories, so take it for what it`s worth.

Been to Cebu twice so if you need a recomendation for a hotel PM me.

I've been to Cebu two or three times now and definitely know the score when it comes to Mango Square, I have a hotel that I stay at between there and Ayala. I actually hate Cebu and consider it to be one of the biggest shit hole cities that I've ever had the misfortune to be in but it is a good transit point and a gold mine for picking up girls. I think we're going to head down to Oslob tomorrow morning to go snorkeling with the whale sharks, we may also go to one of Cebu's many shooting ranges to fire some automatic assault rifles. After that I'm not sure where we're heading, either somewhere in Mindinao or Siargao Island to do some surfing.
