Looks like I'll be in Philly for about a week next month.

Any info on the Latin club scene there?

Cuba Libre in old city is my favorite latin place in Philadelphia. I haven't been there in about 2 years, but I doubt the scene changes that quickly as it does in cities like LA, Miami and NYC.

I've heard from a couple of people about Cuba Libre, is that the only spot in the city?

Any Dominican clubs?

La Tambora is a Dominican club in Philadelphia. I have no idea how it is. Almost all of the people in the Philadelphia and South Jersey latin clubs will be either Puerto Rican or white. I rarely ever see anyone else in those places.

I was able to find some info about that spot with a quick Google search.

Where I am, the Dominican spots are pretty hot, so I'll probably have high expectations.

I'll definitely check these places out.

Found this article that mentions a few other spots:

Philadelphia Data Sheet 2013

I’m actually moving from here soon, so why not.

Things I learned on Vacation

American women are the worst (I discovered the forum but typing in google something along the lines of “what the fuck is wrong with american girls” after going on vacation
Scandinavians are the sluttist girls alive
Argentina has the hottest women but they’re nuts.

Philadelphia

Despite having a not so great job market. Its a good time to be here. I’m seeing way more tourists than ever before. Philly was ranked #1 in the NY times for places to visit this year in the USA. Also, the city got named as an up and coming food city. The pope is visiting in Sept. The DNC is here next year. A giant mormon church is being built and a museum dedicated to the American Revolution is also under construction.

The city has an unpretentious attitude. You’ll likely never get blown out by women here. Philadelphia is often named as a rude city. This is simply not the case. I would say your just more likely here to get called out for shitty behavior. At the same time, if you come here for an Eagles game, ignore what I just said. (I’m originally from NYC)

Living

In and around Center City is where you should be. While Manayunk is fun, for an older guy this actually could lower your DHV.

Also, bring cash, public transportation still does not accept card (though they are suppose to soon)

Food

Causal-Loco Pez, Buena Onda, Pizzeria Vetri, Dizengoff, Federal Donuts
Nicer-Amada, Alma de Cuba, Zahav, Good King Tavern, Treemont, Serpico

Women

Another poster put Dc with less bitchyness. That is probably an accurate description. Philly girls are actually pretty friendly, girls here actually approach, a really good looking friend actually gave this game advice to another friend “just stand there, girls will come up to you.” Don’t count on it but it does happen more often here.

Philly is actually a big college town. 90,000 students go to Drexel, Temple and Penn alone.

Asian girls are above average here while the Latina populations is well below, (a lot ugly Puerto Rican lizards) Since I’m Latino, this if often disappointing.

Women here are also less likely to have a ONS. I haven’t had one here year in about a year. Honestly, I thought my game was off but after spending some time back home in NYC and visiting Chicago for a while, I believe I am right on this.

Nightlife/Neighborhood

There are already a bunch of places put up here so Ill just add to it.

Keep in mind when you get here, the state still runs the liquor business. Also, beer is sold strictly through distributors so if you go to a bottle shop, you’re paying a much higher price.

Philly is also the land of neighborhood bars and sometimes these can be decent places. This is also a beer drinking city. Just say lager if you want a Yuengling, or my personal favorite a “Yaomingling”

Independence Beer Garden (Old City) and Frankford Hall (Fishtown) have good ratios but they are both outside sitdown places.

Morgan’s Pier (Columbus Blvd)

Barbary (Nolibs), Dolphin, Garage (South Philly) Bob & Barbara’s (Graduate Hospital)---If you’re looking for tatted up Hipster chicks

Urban Saloon - only place I can recommend in Fairmount

Nodding Head - not usually a place to meet girls but every time i’ve been the quality is wonderful

Public House is now City Tap House

Im going to rep Time again. One of the benefits of this place, is the location. I would say there’s a good 20-30 bars within 3 blocks of this place.

Good post, but if you are looking for a ONS in Philadelphia, go over the Walt Whitman bridge, then go about forty five minutes east until you see some casinos and a beach. Thank me later.

We need to do a Cape May County/Atlantic County meetup this summer. Avalon has the best quality, so maybe we could start there.

Thanks guys, since I have moved to Philly and living in Ritten house square I will definitely hit some places.

My Online game was really tight back in London, it was working well in Asia as well, but in Philly online is taking me no where. Only getting some 5's or 6's, so definitely not relying on online game here any more.

Its time to go out and hit the clubs/bars.

What do you guys think of the south street?

Gaming here is much tougher than people think. It has been much easier for me in other major cities. I have the same issue with online dating, getting a 7 or above out for a date these days is tough. Philly is more social circle oriented. Its not like DC or NYC which are full of transplants.

Philly is a fantastic bar city, I cant complain in that aspect. Move around, there can be a different type of crowd every night.

I'd avoid South st quality wise. Frankly, I make it down there maybe once a year, but since your new, its worth checking out.

Bump

I'll be moving here in July from Toronto. Philadelphia has to be a better city for men I'm guessing?

Where do you guys recommend I move in Philadelphia? I've heard university city is best. How far West in Philadelphia is too dangerous?

University City is mostly college students. A decent amount of people work there but usually live "across the river" in center city.

Attitude of women here will be far better then Toronto. Other then that I don't know.

Past 48th st or above Market st is where it slowly gets dicey. Below 44th for certain and you'll be fine.

Feel free to PM me with any questions. Be glad to help.

I'm basically going on Craigslist.

Craigslist, Zillow...google search some individual apartments.

Consider this a where to live datasheet.

So I would not select University City for a young single male. Unless you strictly day game college students, even so Penn isnt walking around with stunners, (though it is quite international) way hotter college girls will be in Manayunk. The nightlife is lacking out in UC as well and very few people out of college live there.

I recommend center city or old city. But if you don't want to live exactly downtown, take a look Fairmount or Graduate Hospital. Slighty cheaper and the crowd is closer 25-30. Northern Liberties would be fine too. South philly (though a decent amount of hipsters)is a huge mix of people, just be careful if the apartment is on the southwest side. Fishtown is hipsters as well, though your seeing yuppies buy houses there now. As mentioned manayunk has a bunch of college students. Its old but safe and pretty cheap. If you want to live a more suburban life, consider chestnut hill or roxborough. A lot of other places are gentifying since a lot of people are moving downtown and would be probably be ok.

If you work outside the city, consider living outside of it, as you will avoid the income tax.

This is what I'm doing. I want to relocate out of the hell hole known as Los Angeles in the next year and a half.

Philadelphia and Chicago are high on my list but I hate cold and Philly does get cold but not as bad as Chicago. Overall weather seems better in Philly not to mention cost of living so I'd rather go to Philly even if Chicago might be a somewhat better city for game, nightlife, entertainment, and logistics.

Interesting data sheet here any one in Philly wanna speak on this?

The guy who said no one night stands in Philly is scaring me

While Philly is not Chicago, weather-wise it can still be shitty. If you're okay not day-gaming/doing much outdoor sports for 5 months out of the year then go ahead but honestly Nov. - March sucks. I would recommend relocating further south, you could try Atlanta or Charlotte.

The social circle line from the other dude scared me personally, as I, too, am considering a move to Killadelphia.

I've always been high on Atlanta and Charlotte but Atlanta is horrific logistically and both cities are sprawling, driving cities. From my experience, game (especially daygame) flows far smoothly in a dense, walking city.

Nah fuck that. I wanna sell my car when I move.

I don't see why day game would stop in bad weather... People still go to coffee shops, people still go to the store, people still commute on the trains/buses right? Get that number and invite her over for some hot coco or whatever people do on the east coast right.

But yeah I'm fine dealing with no outdoor sports or whatever for a few months. I'll just lift and box or focus on a side hustle or something.

I just want confirmation on this one night stand shit. I really find that hard to believe.

Yup, I can confirm the "not day-gaming much for 5 months" thing is a myth, certainly in NYC and Chicago, but I'd assume it's the exact same in Killadelphia.

Are women out for less time each day in the cold? Of course. But these women are still leaving the house daily because, well, they kind of have no choice.

Whether it's 80 degrees or 0 degrees, you have to leave the house to go to work and get food...unless you want to get fired or starve to death. Women work and eat food, too. Believe it or not. [Image: wink.gif]

You are quoting me incorrectly about "this one night stand shit"

I never said there was no one night stands in Philly...I said... "Women here are also less likely to have a ONS".... I'm comparing it to surrounding cities like Washington D.C and New York which have more transplants, hence, females are more likely to engage in slutty behavior. A lot of people go to college together and know each other, people are far more likely to stick to their social circle. Many young women also spend their summer weekends down the shore, where ONS is more likely. The best way for one night stands is live in "Center City West" and invite girls on dates near your place. You'll definitely have some ONS. If you live on the outskirts of downtown, it will be harder for you.
