Stockholm and Eastern Europe, here I come.

Hey clr,
Stockholm will be cool, but be warned, the nightlife there sucks a bit though - most clubs close early, around 3, and can be pretty pretentious. The swedish girls will love meeting an ex undercover man and I am sure you will love them. If you're bored with stockholm, take the train to gothenburg, which to me is the best place in Sweden. You will see stunners absolutely everywhere. If Gothenburg doesn't do the trick, Copenhagen is just 4 hours away by train. To me only Berlin and London's got better nightlife in northern europe, and if you time it right, loads of music and nightlife festivals will be on.

Thanks! I could easily change my ticket to Copenhagen... is it better to fly in there? I just picked Stockholm because of the ferries across the water.

Agree with what Beebopaloo said about Stockholm nightlife being pretentious, but I disagree on advising in Copenhagen nightlife, at least without having local conections. There are plenty of threads about Copenhagen and Stockholm though.

I also recommend buses. I took a bus from Tallinn to Vilnius for like 15 euros, took like 8 hours but worth it. You get to see the countryside and if you leave really early, you can just nap anyway.

hey Clr,
I don't know whether it is better to go to Copenhagen straight away. Depends on what you want.
Sweden is much more of a place for nature lovers than Denmark, as they got huge forests and mountains, while Denmark is flat as a pancake. Sweden is really nice in the summer time, especially if you invest in some fishing gear and go to the sea side a couple of days. Anyways, you can easily cover both countries as public transport is effecient (both bus and train, and remember, Denmark and Sweden are connected by a bridge) or if you can get some discount through your pilot friend, Sthlm-Cph should be cheap and easy.
I think you can get cheap flights to the baltics as well, so don't worry about taking the ferry.
If you decide on Copenhagen I'll post some info on the nightlife.

keep in mind tho that copenhagen's nightlife is completely dead mid-week. there is literally nothing going on. friend of mine worked there for a couple of months and said that outside of the weekends it's boring beyond imagination.

I've heard nothing but great things about Gothenburg. On my trip in September, I'm planning on spending 1-2 weeks there and then just hitting Stockholm long enough to jump over to Estonia. Most people I've talked to say that Stockholm is overrated and very stuck up. I can't stand cities with stuck up nightlife (London, LA, Miami, etc.)

CPH has at least one packed club on days like sunday and wednesday, with a party going on until 5 in the morning. But they move around every season, cause as you know, clubs are like fashion, always changing.
An exception to this rule might be in July and August as people are on vacation and out of town.

Been to Athens when I was 14 with my family. My best advice catch a ferry and go to the islands (creta, Santorinni, etc). IMO Greek girls along with portuguese girls get the title of the ugliest from south europe, but u have plenty of foreigners. Food is good.
Greek currency is Euro (unfortunately).
