Bulletproof Coffee + IF (Intermittent Fasting)

I would advise that guys make sure they don't have weak adrenals, or are aren't under a lot of chronic stress for this protocol. This can lead to some problems.

IF and bulletproof coffee can put your body into a crisis if it is already stressed.

Had my first cup this morning using grass-fed unsalted butter, coconut oil, and a little whey protein.
Good lord, the energy I have right now.

In an effort to feel better & lower my body fat percentage to next to nothing, I decided to use IF (Intermittent fasting) on top of a strict paleo diet for an entire year. This is on top of daily cardio/weight training.

Intermittent Fasting is getting all of your caloric intake in an 8 hour window (I do 2-8pm) and fasting the rest of the day. There are tons of health benefits to doing this, much more beneficial than shredding that belly:

Isn't that a 6 hour window?

I think this is a great idea, and something I might do in the future. But for an entire year? How do you pull this off? I am assuming you started from at least decent shape. The goal of getting shredded is welcoming, sure, but how do you avoid the temptation to just eat more and add muscle mass?

Intermittent fasting does not require coffee. Having more than 50 calories in your coffee will pull you out of fasting. Bulletproof is making a nice marketing campaign here

This is the only thread I found on Bulletproof coffee. I don't really care about the fasting since I"m not looking to lose fat or anything.

Bulletproof coffee is great for productivity though.

Tim Hortons/Starbucks Coffee = Low Quality. Lots of jitters and bitter. They worked for exams on low sleep but caused a big crash. Maybe lasted for 2 hours. I would drink it black but its very bitter.

Bulletproof Coffee with grass fed butter + mct oil = Wakes me up and gives me lots of energy even on low sleep. No jitters or comedown, although I do feel a slight decrease in calmness. Very good for productivity. Lasts 2-2.5 times longer, with 0 crash.

Bulletproof Coffee black with mct Oil- Very effective too, without the butter it won't fill you up as much. I only tried it once today after I've had a cup of high quality chinese coffee so I can't say I have much data on this. However I noticed a pretty big increase in concentration and how awake I felt as compared to the chinese coffee which tasted just as good but didn't have the same "oomph". The coffee tasted great black, with very little bitterness.

I don't know how much effect MCT Oil or the grassfed better has since I haven't really tested them against each other.

I'd also recommend trying L-theanine with bulletproof coffee.

After reading 2 pages of this thread I brewed myself a cuppa of organic grown Bali beans w 2 tablespoonful of coconut oil (sadly, no unsalted butter at home). And it's 7pm now. Gotta love RvF.

Purchased the coffee and mct oil online. Gets expensive after shipping but I thought it was worth it because I only drink it maybe 1-2 times a week when I have to wake up early for business reasons(for networking events or meetings with clients, etc). The boost in performance is pretty high ROI wise since I'm alert for morning business meetings which is a huge help. Are you still in Toronto? If you're in the US it should be cheaper.

Are you supposed to do this before breakfast?

In place of breakfast?

After breakfast?

Anyone try this before going out at night?

Am I still in Toronto? Heaven forbid, I value my testicles too much!! Got a link for the online purchase? I'm gonna get the coffee there and go local for my butter.

G, I wouldn't try this before going out at night since it may hurt your sleep cycle. I only drink coffee in the morning. Green tea works great in the evening though.

Sh*t.

My sleep cycle is very unorthodox.

I drink double espressos before I go out.

Sometimes multiple.

Giving this a shot right now.

G,

Can you throw some further thoughts about using this at night?

Is it an adequate replacement for red bull without the crash/depressive qualities? Can it be had with whisky as an equivalent for RB/vodka?

I will try again tonight and report back.

Toronto kid was right, I could barely fall asleep.

Fly girl came over last night and I swooped her till 3 am when she left. I don't think I fell asleep till 5:30 am.

Again, I have only tried it once, but yeah, a million times better than Red Bull.

Hell, this stuff might put Red Bull out of biz.

Red Bull sucks anyways.

No idea, didn't try and I am not a big whisky drinker.

Throwing down another cup before a big night.

Already feel the focus, sharpness and clarity.

This stuff is kind of scary.

Will report back.

Cheers.

Which coffee brand are you using(Bulletproof or another brand?).

I combined it with 200mg L-theanine today, its a good combination since that relaxes you. I was in a very focused state of mind. Might give it a try with 400mg L-theanine and bulletproof coffee and see how that works?

I'm curious about how it pares up with going out at night and the effects it has on macking chicks.

keep me posted on your movements. How many times have you taken it so far? Did you take it with butter? I find my receptors become used to these things after a bit.

Also, which brand of coffee did you purchase (bulletproof?) and how did you make the purchase?

Are all brands of MCT oil created equally, or is there one brand to favor over another?

I haven't used bulletproof coffee brand.

This girl I am dating gave me a gift of a coffee press and some coffee that is pretty damn good.

I used to never make coffee in my crib, so I think she gave it to me so she could make in the the morning when she stays over.

I use kerrygold butter. And Natures Way Coconut Oil.

I did it on Friday and Sat night.

Give me a little more time of experimentation and I will have a better idea of how this stuff works.

Damn G, with your love of all things French I assumed you'd already have a press at the crib.

I'd suggest getting an electric water kettle too if you don't have one already. You just flip a switch and have boiling water in minutes. Makes using a press really quick and hassle free.

With the coffee though, does it not have to be "bulletproof" to get the same effects? You may not know but hopefully someone else does. From what I'm reading online the "upgraded" coffee just has less toxins...does that give it more caffeine or something? Or is it mostly the butter and oil doing the work?

Also, for those who have tried it, is it a "clean" focus? Or does it just feel like you've drank a shit ton of coffee?

I don't know too much about coffee, but apparently the lack of toxins in Bulletproof coffee makes it much cleaner than other coffees.

Its far superior to Starbucks or other low quality coffee(no jitters, and more focus). I tried another coffee that my parents had(a high quality one) and that coffee didn't give me jitters but it was far less effective. I didn't experience the same boost.

I would suggest trying out the Bulletproof coffee beans.
