I should learn to play guitar better. I play but I don't play well and most of my skill is playing rhythm for heavy metal... doesn't exactly get it wet. I don't know any chords or how to play anyone else's songs but my own and certainly nothing recognizable
Guitar Game
One of the best decisions I've made in my international travels is to bring a guitar and enough outboard to record songs I update or write abroad.
The partial isolation from normal time sinks like work and shopping enabled me to re-record and write new things incorporating the emotions from being in the new locations. I have one tragic song I re-did in a sub-zero freezing winter in Ukraine, and dissolute tales of corruption from -- guess-- Philippines.
Since I was looking for real relationships, socially it's huge for third world, I became humanized and more than a source of money.
I have a mac laptop, a simple ADA interface, decent sealed Sennheiser headphones, a Zoom H4N, and one general purpose old EV mic, and the below travel guitar which has been immeasurably helpful. No confronting flight crew pressuring them to allow your full-size acoustic on board, even in its case this very easily fits in the overheads.
I buy 7 string sets and discard the high string and I can tune it down to D, but that's just my morbid tendencies. Out of about 10 flights I was only asked to check it once by an anal female Philippines airlines manager.
Using a suitcase close to the max allowed size I have even fit it without its case diagonally across the interior. I've carried it strapped caseless on the back of my motorcycle in Philippines traffic. They only cost about $135 mail order so it's not a big source of stress.
Weaving through the jeepneys defying death with your cheap guitar on the back of your moto-- now THAT'S living. *
*I've had extensive experience racing bicycles ( badly) and mountain biking on steep difficult trails. I don't recommend
riding motorcycles in Asian cities. The emergency rooms are very reasonable however. ;-)

I should've done that Washburn! I brought a Taylor GS Mini in a SKB hard case and the Airlines in the Philippines force me to check it. Costs me $1,000 pesos, the case got scuffed up but it held up well.
Playing the guitar in the condo helps loosen the girls up quite nicely, but I don't sing and they always want me to. I have to work on that.

This is very true. When I send pics of me in my studio with guitar in hand to girls, or send them short little audio clips of me playing guitar or I play for them when they are over they always ask if I can sing. I can't My singing voice is garbage. Need to develop that - not just for pussy but for myself really.
When I carry my guitar, girls ask me if I play...
I say: "I play..but I'm not a Player!" wink wink.
Gets a laugh every time.
