JJ, 90% of people DO need to be told what to do because they're idiots. Ok, maybe not 90% but not far off.

Hitler WAS an amazing public speaker who achieved a lot of power with little education. That's admirable despite his later actions.

I don't know what is so objectionable about these statements?

Look at what Arnold achieved by the force of his personality. From an Austrian village kid to a man who has to explain that he's not eligible to run for US president.

Not only that, he was willing to break each and every rule that stood in the way of his goals.

When you're driven to succeed, it's easy to get disgusted by the average man.

It was frustrating. People who would never benefit from what I told them kept taking my time. They paid and came to the gym. But it was a disgusting, superficial effort on their part. They merely went through the motions, doing sissy workouts, pampering themselves. And there was so much I wanted to do with those wasted hours.

My favorite Arnie movie, and one of the most entertaining movies overall, is True Lies. Really underrated, too. The guy is a true inspiration.

^ True Lies was awesome. I just wish he'd done more with Jim Cameron as together their movies were awesome.

Hopefully Arnie pops up in one of the Avatar sequels.

Do you like Avatar?

I never got round to watching it - the whole concept of the film is about as unappealing as it gets for me.

I didn't particularly like it, but it would be cool for the two to work together again. It was visually impressive though. One of the only 3D films worthy of the tag.

That was the most impressive part to me, he put together a bodybuilding supplements business out of his apartment, spending a few hours a week doing that, and then bought an apartment building, lived in one of the apartments and rented the rest. The dude had the passive income thing down when Tim Ferriss was in elementary school.

I believe Arnold was also the first civilian to own a military Humvee.

The kind of intelligence Arnold has doesn't come from formal education. There are some pretty credentialed people that are clueless. It's more important to be intelligent enough to put yourself in the position to learn from those that know more than you. He's gifted in that area. He's incredibly ambitious, and never at rest - he's continually setting new goals for himself. He's a power junkie.

I think one of his more underrated films is "Raw Deal." His movies aren't know for their dialogue, this film has some of his wittiest lines. I still watch "Predator" whenever it's on. From "Conan the Barbarian," I love the part when they are sitting around the table asking "what is best in life?" Arnold responds, "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women." That's probably his real-life philosophy!

The thing with the housekeeper was actually pretty typical of powerful men, especially high-level politicians - they fuck around with who is near them, out of convenience and familiarity (usually an aide). Looks don't always factor in. Governors can't go out hunting for it because they're too public. There are too many eyes. As few people can know about it as possible, so he fucked the one that was in his own house. Maybe he could have done what Clinton did when he was the Governor of Arkansas - have some loyal troopers take you around at night. Where he messed up was getting her pregnant, giving her a hammer to hold over him.

Alan Sugar (a famous entrepreneur in the UK) thinks having the ability to make money is something you are born with.

He says he would love to be young and penniless again, just so he can set about making a ton of money all over again.

I always thought luck was a big factor - but after hearing Alan Sugar talk I definitely think it is a drive some people are born with.

I think we all have interesting business ideas and concepts from time to time. But 99.9% of us are too lazy to do anything with them. Not just lazy - but somewhere deep down perhaps we lack the confidence which says that our ideas have real commercial value.

People like Alan Sugar and Arnold Schwarzenegger seem to have a drive which compels them to run with any opportunities they spot.

As Woody Allen said - 90% of success is showing up...

I'm listening to the audiobook of Total Recall. It's great, and, yes, inspirational. One of the big takeaways is whatever your goals, whether it has to do with lifting, women, or business, you need to visualize success. The stronger the image, the more likely you'll make it.

Re: his quote on Hitler, he does mention in the book that he regretted it. He was trying to be outrageous (like his quote on cumming all day when at the gym) but wasn't sophisticated to know the difference between being outrageous and offensive.

The universal system, as we have in Britain is OK, sure, but has big drawbacks. I advocate a combination system of both private and public

I'm in the UK too. I haven't had any significant problems with the NHS (nor has any family members). However, I would agree that it's not perfect. I have also experienced a privatised healthcare system (in South Africa) and witnessed horror stories of children being denied operations because their parents couldn't afford it.

I would also agree with you that the ideal is a combination of both private and public - as we have here. This is one of the reasons why I can't work out America's extreme hostility to socialised medicine. Yes, it's not going to be perfect, but at least it's something - and if you're not happy with it, then go private.

So just finished his book Total Recall. Last chapter is his 10 Rules. Here is a link to them. Read through them, and tell me most of them can't be applied to pickup. I think for many, including myself, the first one is the most important.

These are interesting questions but they can't really be answered well based on one criteria ( intelligence.)

To even have half-sensible answers, you'd have to add a Thrill-Seeking (TS) trait measurement.

For instance, the worst country if you are HI-IQ/Low TS would be one of the criminal regimes of Africa, where anyone can rob anyone and anything you can create can and will be stolen-- your only answer is to get out. On the other hand, if you are HI TS you could become a successful warlord or arms dealer.

I feel for very smart people in the Philippines but there are ways out-- medicine, nursing and engineering. But again the only thing to really do is leave except for vacations.

If you are slightly above average IQ and HI-TS, USA might be good. More sports, if you work hard you can make money in HVAC welding etc. Same but low TS-- Scandinavia or Germany might be better, less unpleasant surprises.

Look at the top rated comments. What a bunch of fags. If his affair is the only thing you can bring up after reading those ten (if they even bothered to) points, then it's just pure jealousy. Losers finally having their chance to have a pop at a successful person.

I like this one:

Quote:Quote:

9. Take care of your body and your mind

"Focusing on the body was no problem for me, and later on, I became really curious to develop my mind. I realized that the mind is a muscle and we should train it too. ... For people who are successful with their intelligence, the opposite applies. They need to exercise the body every day. Clint Eastwood exercises even when he's directing and starring in a movie.''

Makes me realise how much I really want/need to get back properly in shape.

I was an employee while he was governor of California.

This may be a vague thing but I think it's important in high level leaders-Reagan had it: He really believed in the ability of Californians, like Reagan believed in America. When there was a big budget deficit he was almost dismissive about in a good way "Come on, this is California " implying we could handle it.

At the time they were trying to raid our pension funds, and he ended up taking the side of the employees. I was pretty impressed, Republican and Democrat don't really mean anything.

He openly said the state shouldn't renege on the deals it had already promised to its employees, saying "Morally and legally" the state couldn't do it. He came out and said it straight too, not "I've been advised" or some BS. He just said it wasn't right and they weren't going to do it.

So if you worked for 20 years promised 1.5% per year pension, you should get it. No welching.

Incredible achiever. Imagine going to Austria and getting elected Mayor of Vienna. I am always fascinated at how much people can achieve when they have direction and the same 24 hours as the rest of us.

For one thing I think they are just constitutionally able to maintain a much higher level of activity than normals. They can just do more things in a day without resting or spacing out.

Also the have the clear end goal in sight and they forget the shit that doesn't lead to it.

No different than we Murcans worshiping the tyranical Abraham Lincoln.

If he was a tyrant, maybe it took a tyrant to eliminate the fetid evil of legal slavery from the USA. I think he was a positive genius from what I've read.

Here's a very interesting movie dramatization excerpt of a debate between Lincoln and Douglas, Lincoln preaches equality, mops the floor with the hopelessly outclassed Douglas. I'm guessing it's a transcription of a real debate, not sure.

Sounded a lot more like he was preaching about the rights of Everyman rather than tyranny.
