Luke, what are your thoughts on Razzmatazz?

Oh, I forgot about that one, mostly because I don't like mega clubs, but Razzmatazz has intriguing possibilities, especially if you like the alternative vibe and are below 25. Lots of girls and a very easy-going vibe. The quality is more or less the same as Apollo. Wednesday is the best day as it's free before 2 am and there aren't many other options in town. Weekends are ok too but the crowd is even younger.

There are A LOT more places in Barcelona. And it's possible to pick up on everyone of them, the city just has that vibe, especially in the Summer and in February/October (when the Erasmus crowd starts to get going). Of course, everything is open for interpretation and the places you like will vary depending on the kind of girls you like. But I insist, if you know how to dress up, have some game and want top quality, you better not leave Opium.

I think a key strategy in Barcelona is to get to the clubs early (before 1 AM), because the ratios worsen considerably as the night goes on, and clubs become a sausage fest by about 3:30 AM. People will preach about how late people wake up, have dinner, and go to clubs in Barcelona. I say do it differently, get there early, avoid the lines, start approaching right away and by 2 AM, when the hordes of dudes arrive and the bitch shields start going up, you'll already have a girl on your arm.

There's probably no place in the world that beats Barcelona for horny European tourist girls (Greek islands maybe?), but you have to do it right.

100% agreed. Arriving at 1-1:30 allows you to warm up a bit and have a drink before actually getting on to business. In my opinion, the sweet spot for pick up in Barcelona is between 2:30 and 3, where the ratios are still good, girls are a bit drunk and not jaded by the hordes of chumps trying to pull them (literally, as in physically pull them), and you can move the girls around the club for an hour or two before extracting.

I'm going back to Barcelona during the summer and had a great time last year, unfortunately I didn't make it to Opium so will definitely check it out this time. I enjoyed Razzmatazz and it's worth checking out Espit Chupito just for a shot or two. I went to one club with a chocolate fountain but can't remember the name, does that ring any bells for you?

No parlo català pero ho entenc [Image: smile.gif]. A couple of them had chocolate fountains as it's a party that moves from club to club. When I arrived seven years ago I used to PR for it, we organized it in Otto Zutz and Shoko. Not sure if it's still in one of those, but my best guess would be Otto Zutz. Espit Chupito is ok if you go to Sutton or a club on that area, but being summer, I'd rather recommend another chupiteria (I can't remember the name) that it's in Passeig Colon, right before metro Jaume I. It's on the way to the port.

Ah! And there's also a new, really cool bar called The Room, right next to the Casino. Lots of hotties that you can hook up with before hitting Opium (or Shoko, or the new Pacha)

Moltes gràcies for the tips! +1

Looking at Pacha, I definitely went there - I need to keep a better record of the places I go!

I was there in June last year and will look to come more toward September/October this year when it was less overrun by tourists.

Luke
Thanks for the great information as I plan to book the trip soon. It will be in Barcelona for 10 nights in July. What club over all is the best in your opinion for tourists girls ?
Since I'm on vacation with a girl most of time and wanted to take it casual, do you think jacket/ blazer is required for the nightlife ?

If you want to pick up tourists in the summer, then Opium, no doubt. You need to dress smart but no need for a jacket in the summer. A good shirt/jeans combo will do. What they care most about actually is the shoes, you can even get away with sneakers but they have to be fashion sneakers, not sports sneakers, if you know what I mean.

Just go on La Rambla and score off the Africans. They'll likely rip you off but that's the way things go..

For other stuff it's better to hook up with some party people at a club.

I would never advice anyone going to Barcelona to visit La Rambla.
And to tell anyone to do business with the Africans at La Rambla! ! ! ?

That's just damn irresponsible.

I may be able to better answer this from an in person perspective in a month, but this really comes down to what you want and where you want to stay. I'm a big advocate for points as a way to stay in great locations with great accommodations for a low price (almost free). Check out kayak.com and filter by price and start eliminating stars and locations until you find something that's near the bars, clubs, things you want to see and then compare that price to airbnb for accommodation/location purposes. I'm staying at the Hotel Indigo in July and the location is solid, not great, but far from bad, right around the corner from the hostel I'll be staying a night or two at (I'm overlapping night 2 for logistics purposes) and near a metro to get me to the beach clubs (Opium Mar).

for how long will you stay in that hotel? I've been looking in booking and most of them are kinda expensive.I'm pretty sure there must be hostels much more cheaper, but we dont have to forget that this websites are also "business",so there must be small hotels that are "hidden"

I agree. I would never take a chance like that. The Prague data sheet had a much better write up as I able to score some last Summer but I could smell people smoking it throughout the city over there. Not sure how liberal the weed culture is in Barcelona.

I'm there for two nights, maybe three. I'm doing it on points so it's a steal and costs me nothing.

Just retuned from 4 nights in Barcelona. I can confirm the reports that Opium is probably the best place in that area but I guess you really could try to meet girls without even going into a club as there is so much competition between the clubs in that area between 1-5am. I saw groups of people just hanging around and drinking in that area. Over all the crowd seemed to be a mix of European and Amercians with some locals mixed. Although I was with my Russian GF I was getting some interest from Spanish girls more then the tourists. Ratio at Opium was about at 60% women.
On the weed front I saw and smelled weed being smoked openly, probably more then other places such Prague, London, etc. but I did not partake on this trip.
Best tip to avoid the main tourist beach near the W hotel. On Wednesday afternoon it was so crowded that there is no place to move and it was very rocky sand. 15 minutes away is a more local beach that was away less crowded on a Saturday afternoon and grade of the sand on beach was way better too.

About weed. For all purposes it is legal to buy and consume weed in Barcelona in small doses. There are a lot of marihuana clubs in which you have to pay a membership fee (usually 10 euro) and then you are free to buy it and either smoke it there (some of them are really cool) or take it home. You don't need to engage in any shady deals, there are promoters for the clubs everywhere in downtown. The only thing you can't legally do is smoke in on public spaces but if you go to the beach nothing really will happen to you either.

Worked for me when I was there the first time. I never said it was a good option, but if you don't know any locals and have no alternatives..

I thought you had to be a Spanish resident to get entry into those clubs?

Anybody got tips on spots to chase mainly local girls, especially during the day/early evening before going to the clubs? The club recommendations here are great but at that point I'm just going for anything I can get, but I'd like to get the flag, too.

I'll be staying in Gracia, definitely will try the Chupiteria mentioned. Anyone had success with pipelining or Tinder in Barcelona?

I was in Barcelona at the end of August/beginning of September. Here are some thoughts on clubs and a few random things. I have to say that both the OP and Lucky Luke dropped great info, but keep in mind your personal preferences and style will dramatically shape where you like to go (IOW I didn't really like Opium that much, but I can see why other guys might).

I thought the best part about Barcelona was that the quality was high across the board wherever I went. I skipped a few of the clubs like Moog noted for not having great talent, but other than that, I saw good looking girls at every club I went to, in bars, at tapas places...it was great.

Opium Mar is pretty similar to Pacha and Shoko and all three are next to each other as well as another one or two whose names I can't remember (I didn't go). Also, of the three, I agree that Opium was the best. Good quality and well dressed crowds, however, hordes of travellers. Maybe that was keeping the quality a bit down from what it is at other times, but I didn't notice the quality was THAT much higher than other places, and dramatically lower than Sutton. Not too hard to open girls but I had trouble getting them interested in anything other than chatting about where they were from or visiting on their trip. I think this was probably a bad time of year to be a tourist (game-wise) but someone could clean up. I also personally prefer places to either be proper filthy dance clubs, or bars, and I never do as well at clubs with this kind of set up. If you like nice clubs and aren't ready for Sutton, hit up any of these three places.

Sutton is apparently one of the nicest clubs in Barcelona and I can see why. It's expensive and you better dress up if you want to get in. Why go? For the quality. The place had truly impressive, at times jaw-dropping quality. The girls were definitely a bit cold, and I feel like this is a place you'd have to work into. Bit tough as a traveler if you can't drop cash on VIP game, but if you lived here and had some social proof it could be incredible.

Espit Chupitos, the shots bar mentioned a few times, was pretty cool. There were a few other bars nearby and the night I was there ratios were pretty solid and there were groups of girls out looking for something to do after the bar.

Razzmatazz was my kind of place. 5 rooms over multiple stories and a bit of a maze when you're drunk. I'm mid 20s and look younger so Lucky Luke might be right when he says this is a place for young guys. Girls were definitely on the young side. I was surprised at the quality. The average is always gonna be a bit lower at a place like this (no face control or dress code of any kind that I could tell) but I still saw a ton of young, sexy girls from various countries. Get to the area early, pre-drink nearby, and hit the dance floor early and start making moves. Expect crazy party girls here who will be all over you with some luck and decent looks. I had girls eye-fuckign me and waving to dance after 10 minutes inside, but these same girls will have their bitchshields sky-high at 5 am after 100 choads have run shitty dance floor approaches on them. There's also a smoking deck if you want to chat up a girl you've been dancing with, or want to try some non dance-floor openers.

As Shotgun and Lucky Luke said, there's a definite sweet-spot time wise here. I mentioned it above in the bit about Razzmatazz but it applies to everywhere I went. I re-calibrated my game after reading this thread again while I was in Barcelona-it clicked when I thought about how friendly and cool the clubs seemed at 2 am vs what a shitshow they were at 5. IOIs, dance invitations, and easy approaches were common early while by 5 girls were making it obvious to not even try.

I want to have the stereotypical newbie "Barcelona experience" - hostel, vibrant night life, hitting on tourists from all over Europe and the world.

I know this reaches its peak during the summer, but are there other times during the year when this is possible? Like in Spring or Winter?

Do European college students have a "spring break"?

Thanks in advance.
