It's interesting hearing Americans say Montreal is not a easy nut to crack as far as the ease of Girls. I've got a lot of buddies whom get their shit wet each time they go there, in Canada its probably in the top 5 for places that are easy as hell to get tail in (Banff, Whistler, MTL, Craven, Any non GTA Ontario University not named Waterloo).

I sometimes think American cats are too cool for their own good in MTL and sometimes get tricked into the foreign and finesse vibe the girls there give off there, when they are ratchet party girls whom just like to get down and have a good time. American kats might be to tame for the Quebec girls lol. Ya'll are cool and have the vibe and swagger down but sometimes a bottle of Jamaican Overproof and a shit ton of energy is all you need.

I have to agree with this. It was about the same level of difficulty as DR IMHO. Maybe easier.(if you exclude pros and semi-pros form the equation). It will throw you off as an American dude because the people seem kinda stuck up.(They only LOOK that way)

Those girls are DTF. The second bang I got last time i was there...has offered me a plane ticket back to MTL at least 4 times since I left. Shes a bartended so shes a little frank for a girl...and says."These girls here are so desperate, you can be a ugly dude with no job and still get laid...its so annoying"
I only have a few days of experience so I still don't draw definite conclusions. I just can't imagine that place during the summer.

How much time have you spent there?

The reason I ask is it sounds like you are speculating off one experience.

Quote:Quote:

People didn't seem stuck up at all. Have you ever gone out in West Hollywood? People in Montreal are cool. So that is certainly not it.

Let me break it down for you:

I first met a super fly girl from Montreal in Miami, she took care of me beyond belief on my first trip there.

On that same trip I met another girl who worked overtime to find my apartment for me for summer.

On that same trip I swooped an insanely fly girl back to the W hotel. And on another night had girls coming up to me at Cherry when I was with the original girl and all her girlfriends were all over me. Got mad numbers and didn't have enough nights to swoop them all.

I was singing the praises of Montreal.

I was thinking like you are "I just can't imagine that place during the summer.".

So I went for 4 months.

The reality was a lot different than a handful of isolated experiences.

Unless you know something I don't, break it down.

Which places which nights?

I still want to know which venues and which nights Kosko's buddies, "got their shit wet each time they go there".

It is very possible I just missed out on the best places.

Soooo...Thats why I said:

I will go back this summer to get a more "Realistic" experience.

To the Montreal experts:

Anyone know why the Police come into nightclubs so often?

I saw pbw left this comment and it reminded me to ask:

Yes at Cavalli's also on Thurs. Its a bit of a more mature crowd. Still police came in a couple of times in the night. At closing time quite a few police came in and even arrested a guy.

I noticed this a lot in Montreal also.

Not at Cavalli but I saw it a bunch at KOKO.

What gives?

How was Grand Prix?

Saying it is "so sick" is a big statement.

Can you offer up some info? Some vignettes?

Anything?

In case anyone wants to know, here is George St. Pierre's gym:

http://tristargym.com (I never went)

The owner of my boxing gym is friends with those guys and I was talking about it today with him.

So I figured I would share since a lot of people asked me about gyms in Montreal.

Awesome night except that Koko closed down during winter. Word from the coat check girl that the same guys are going to re-open under a new name and full renovations sometime during summer months.

I live here and work in the service industry and I have to say in general most places take huge hits during the winter months due to the lack of people going out. Even though winter is still happening depending on the spots you choose (most go way down) its not really worth it with the cold and the problems that brings to the nightlife. Some of the pros though is on the cold nights ONLY the people that really want to be out will be in the bars and clubs. Walking in a miniskirt at -30 C takes a bit of willpower and is not for everyone so with the less competition and clearer targets your chances should go up.

My recommendation come in summer where the city wakes up and goes into a full party mode.

I agree with Donnie514 at 100%, winter can be fun though for festivals like Igloofest or watching hockey games at pubs and hitting university parties.

The best time to be in Montreal is during the Jazz festival, just for Laugh festival, the Montreal Grand Prix and the best of the bunch, the fucking playoffs where hockey is above everything. Every car will carry a flag of the Montreal Canadiens and when they win a round everyone celebrate in the streets and there were riots a few years ago. This year should be crazy as Montreal already clinched the playoffs and have a good team so tickets will sell high, the city will turn into hockey mode. The bars will be packed and everyone will go celebrate in clubs after wins.

I was told by my friend who is a promoter at Globe that they come in to either look for specific Haitian gangsters who have warrants or just to make their presence felt and keep them out.

I actually recall someone saying something similar.

I don't recall seeing to many "Haitian gangsters" in KOKO though.

Instead of the usual flight over to Europe, I am going to spend a week in Montreal at the end of May.

Its about time. Been a few years.

I am looking at this place at the moment.

Hotel Zero 1

Thoughts? Knowledge?

I like the location. Seems like the terrace could be good.

Otherwise I was thinking of splitting my time between an apartment on St Laurant/Sherbrooke area and a swank place in the Port like the Germain or St Pauls.

I can help you out, as I stayed pretty close to this place. I jogged by it many times and it always intrigued me. That being said, I never stepped into the place and never really heard anyone talk about it, as I don't think it has a bar or restaurant to my knowledge.

About the location:

Pretty solid. You are a block from Chinatown with is good for Day Game and you get get your dumpling on. I wrote on my Data Sheet about where to get dumplings.

You are also very close to Old Port to make for easy attack moves.

There is a legit grocery store about a block away as well, so that would be real handy.

There are plenty of Metro stops close by.

You are right next to Place la Paix which is a good park I used to do pushups in. There are a bunch of cats on Heroin there too, if you wanted to score some.

If you are there during Jazz Fest, you are basically in the thick of the action more or less.

St. Denis is a few blocks away as well, were some good grinds can be had close by and Station Berri-UQAM is real close that always holds girls.

And lastly, you are on St Laurent. However, you are a few blocks away from Sherbrooke where St. Laurent will have the hottest girls. The walk there will be kind of the dicey part of SL (not dangerous mind you, just dicey).

All in all, I give the location high marks. There isn't an insane bar real close by (like a block or something) but you are walking distance from many great things about Montreal.

And a cab or Metro ride from everything else.

Let me know how it goes, I would be interested.

Le Germain is downtown to my knowledge, not Old Port.

What is the best (your favorite) grocery store in Canada?

IGA?

Provigo?

Which?

My boy was in Montreal this past weekend and said it was super quiet. I was surprised to hear that. He said there weren't many chicks out on St. Laurent/Old Port, etc. Might have been because it was the weekend after Jazzfest. People may have been chillin.

G - favourite grocery store is Whole Foods, but they aren't exactly Canadian. So I will say Loblaw's or Sobey's.

HC - the weather has been off the charts the last two weeks, alot of the local girls in Montreal probably headed to some lake or beach.

I believe these chains are present mainly in Quebec. Maybe some QC members can chime in.

Adonis and Bonanza best grocery stores by far as they cater more to the immigrant population which focus more on the fresh and less of the boxed.

If any of guys are in Montreal and want to do some gaming while getting your groceries try hitting up Jean-Talon Market for a unique Montreal experiance.

Super C = Cheap Cheap Cheap
IGA= Good all ready made meals, meat expensive
Metro=everything expensive but meat is good quality
Loblaws= Hits up everything pretty decent
Kim Phat= For your Asian needs and one of the only place to get Grade D meat.

As for other stores I would not know since I don't shop there.

If you have to drink beer then REMEMBER ALWAYS BUY BEER AT GROCERY STORES. If you buy them at the depaneurs such as Couche-Tard or walk into a Shell or something be prepared to pay almost a 30% or more mark up.

Damn, it looks like a lot of those other chains don't have locations close to downtown/old port of Montreal.

IGA and Provigo kind of suck.

Jean Talon Market and Atwater market are amazing though.

The grocery stores just seem to suck.

Where do you recommend for fresh fish?

Im not from the downtown or old port area so for buying groceries and especially fresh fish I wouldn't know. Easier to just go to Grange Vin + Bouffe in Old port and get them to cook you a nice lobster or crab for you while chatting with the pretty staff.

Alright, here is a Montreal Grocery Store Comparison Data Sheet:

IGA: Better meats. Better seafood.

Provigo: Better produce.

Verdict: They both kind of suck, but IGA is the winner. Overall a better spot.
