Greenville, SC (data sheet)

Recently, I spent a couple of nights in Greenville, South Carolina, and though I didn't get to bang while there, I can tell the place has plenty of potential. Just wanted to put the place on the map with a few notes.

Getting There
I traveled to Greenville by automobile, but the city is serviced by commercial flights and Amtrak. The train station is about 1.5 miles from the main strip. Most commercial flights are to Greenville-Spartanburg, thirteen miles from town. There is an airport three miles from downtown but it seems to cater towards general aviation and not commercial flights.

Where to Stay
There are multiple hotels within a few blocks of Main Street. Logistics are great since you're within a few blocks of nearly all the bars in downtown.
- Westin
- Hyatt
- Courtyard Suites
- Holiday Inn Express
- Hampton Inn

Local Talent
Mostly white, plenty of 6's and 7's. Subjective observation: The level of obesity seems to be lower than in most major American cities I've been to. A note on local demographics, for every 100 females ages 18+ there are approximately 86 males.

Day Game
The city's Main St. is made for day game. Tons of people strolling up and down the streets, stopping at local cafes for a drink or a bite to eat. Plenty of girls to talk to. Falls Park on the Reedy would be a great place to take any girl for an insta-date walk. Damn near every establishment on the strip has tables on the sidewalk where one could sit with a girl and chat her up.

Nightlife
There are tons of bars on Main St. to choose from. Clientele in most bars seemed to be mixed sets of all ages. I spent a Saturday afternoon walking up and down the street, stopping at different bars along the way for a brew. A few of the names I can remember:
- On the Roxx
- D.T.'s Tavern
- Carolina Ale House
- Nose Dive
- Corner Pocket Taproom
- Art Bar on Main
- Sharkey's Pub

The real nightlife gem is outside of town, a place called The Blind Horse Saloon. It's a honky tonk/juke joint where everyone goes to dance, get hammered, and hopefully hook up. My friends and I got kicked out after one of them got cut off and had an altercation with the bouncer, but there were plenty of good looking women wanting to drink and dance. I think being from out of town is an immediate DHV. The only negative is that it's a 3-4 mile cab ride from downtown.

There's also a few strip clubs around town, but the only one I remember the name of was called Platinum Plus. It's about three miles outside of town, near a bar called Twin Peaks, which had some fine looking waitresses.

If you like hockey (I do) the Greenville Road Warriors of the East Coast Hockey League play at the BI-LO Center near downtown. Worth the ticket price to see a good game on the ice.

Oh yeah, if you're in town, have lunch at Antonino Bertolo's Pizzeria. The Sicilian pizza is absolutely delicious.

The Bleu Martini and Rey's are probably my favorite places in Greenville. Bleu Martini is an older crowd and Reys is a mix but a good vibe and your forced to bump into girls all night. Its a narrow and deep bar, girls often seem to be alone. Both are downtown also

I remember seeing the Bleu Martini, but we didn't stop there for drinks (I think we were on our way to the hockey game and didn't have time). Was Rey's on Main St. in downtown? I don't remember seeing it.

Add-On to my original post: There's an assload of small universities in Greenville. Bob Jones University, for instance, has 4,000 students, of which half or more are guaranteed to be females aged 18-26.

Speaking of college, hockey games at the BI-LO Center are $5.00 for college students. May pull in some local talent (though may also make the place a sausagefest)

This is interesting because I was planning on making a trip in January for 2 or 3 nights (got the idea from this post http://www.returnofkings.com/556/i-dare-you). Thanks for posting.

Downtown Greenville has a lot of potential. I was there for St Patty's Day a couple years ago, and would've gotten laid, but one of my coworkers blurted out about us going overseas the next day. The girls are pretty laid back.

So I didn't really get enough intel to warrant a new data sheet, but I would like to contribute some of the observations from my experience last weekend. I'll stick to the previous format.

Getting There
I was coming north up I-85 and my friend was coming west on I-26/385. We both moved right along and it is conveniently located at the intersection of the interstates.

Where to Stay
We stayed at Holiday Inn Express-downtown. It is located about a 4-minute walk from the first set of bars and is in a not-very-dangerous area. At $100 a (weekend) night, it was by far the cheapest of the downtown apartments, yet was very well kept and had a decent breakfast.

Local Talent
I use italics because this was the definite low point of the trip. I got into town around 3PM on Friday afternoon and wandered around downtown for the next 3 hours (my friend wasn't getting in town until closer to 7). There was only one set of 2 over this span of time that I really would have been intrigued to talk to. At one point, I clocked 15 minutes sitting outside of a coffee shop in the middle of downtown and only saw 8 5-6s with the aforementioned 2 (who were together) being 8s.

Friday night out on the town was pretty bad, too, even as more of the 25-35 crowd came out. I deem that it wasn't great mainly because it was summer and the prime 18-24 crowd is probably at home or getting some Euro-cock on study abroad.

Saturday during the day was a bit better, both day and night. Lots of 6s and 7s with a few 8s thrown in. However, every 8 appeared attached at the hip to a guy.

Day Game
The Main Street of downtown really would be a good place if the girls were a bit more attractive. I got plenty of looks, a decent number of smiles, and some blatant stares (for reasons, I'm thinking, will be explained later). Plenty of looks from girls with guys as well.

On Saturday morning (well, early afternoon) there was a giant farmer's market going on in the middle of downtown with streets closed off. The girls seemed more open to conversation and were plentiful. The actual stuff for sale sucked.

Nightlife
We only hit 4 bars as we generally got out pretty late. All were located within 1/2 of a mile of the hotel and were all along the downtown strip.

City Tavern was a jumbled mess with a few tables non-strategically placed in the middle of a huge crowd. Lots of unattractive and low-class types (hood rats, rednecks, etc.). A 21st birthday group tried hard to get our attention, but I despise any girl/group when I'm out that includes dumb cunts wearing sashes. $2 shitty domestics

Carolina Ale House was okay and we actually had dinner there both nights. The downstairs is more of a restaurant while the upstairs is restaurant by day and bar by night. The waitresses/bartenders were hideous, but there was a little bit of talent, mostly in the late 20s range. $3 domestic beers Good for early in the night.

Reys was an alright spot with probably the best talent and a good setup that was conducive to interaction (long bar and a side room for conversation). $4 well drinks

Delany's Irish Pub was actually my favorite. Cool multi-bar setup, large mingling spaces, however there were a few too many tables. Ran into a wedding party and was making progress with a bridesmaid on the dance floor, but wedding party social circle blew it up. Too drunk at this point to remember price, but cheap.

I'll throw in Sharkey's as we day drank there for a bit on Saturday. Looked classy on the outside, but dumpy on the inside (one of the worst bar bathrooms I have ever been in). Cheap drinks though ($3 Yuengling pints, $2 Nattys).

After last call (2AM for most places, I was told some places stay open until 3) there is definitely an opportunity to make a last ditch efforts as girls are roaming around, many alone (I got a girl back to hotel, groping the entire way, before she thought better about coming in (shoulda gone AirBnb)).

Other Observations
First and foremost, downtown Greenville is VERY aesthetically pleasing. I love downtown Athens, but it kinda looks run down in spots, has few trees, and a ton of homeless people. Greenville had beautiful buildings, was lined with green trees, and had few homeless people (I was never approached for money). There are also some interesting stores and some popular retail stores right in the downtown area.

Second, I feel like I got a lot of IOIs because the men were utter clowns. So many guys were either gay or androgynous, dressed like complete dorks, or looked to be completely out-of-shape. I'm no "macho dood" but I'm in shape and dress appropriately, I can tell why I was getting more. looks than usual.

I saw a decent number of black guys with white girls, although none (the men nor the women) were particularly attractive.

Girls didn't dress particularly well and many had large upper arm tattoos, like, more than I had ever seen in one place before. Not sure what the deal is.

Conclusion
I really, REALLY wanted to like downtown Greenville. I figured in the next 4 or 5 years, banging 20 year-olds in a college town might get more difficult as I would then be in my early 30s and that Greenville could be the next step as they have a large "recent college grad" population. The downtown was beautiful, clean, cheap, and offered excellent game and seemingly decent night opportunities...but the girls weren't anything exciting. However, I intend to go back sometime in the fall for a second stab at it and will re-evaluate (and update) accordingly.

Nice update to the datasheet, John. I liked Greenville but spending nearly every waking hour there blind drunk probably wasn't the best way for me to gather great intel for the forum.

I think the town has some potential but it will take another trip for me to see if it's worthwhile as a regular stopping point. If I come across cheap direct airfare I may make another trip.

Thanks and let me know if you decide to come back as I plan on making a return trip within the next 6 months.
