That cultural bellwether, Lady Gaga, weighs in on what it means to be part of the "new feminism."

You know what’s so funny is, I actually think there’s a new feminism that is completely different and I don’t think either is better or worse. Any kind of feminist has valid views for herself about what it means to be a feminist, but, as a new-age feminist, I would say I quite like the transference of strength I feel by submitting to a man – being under him. I actually wrote a song about it on my album, it’s called GUY and it stands for Go Under You. So wearing make-up, smelling delicious and having suckable, kissable, edible things between your limbs is something I find strengthening because I know that when I pick the right guy, I can let him have it. Some women feel oppressed by make-up and clothing, and here’s to them, they have every right to feel that way as well.

She may be getting pudgy, and she may want to smell like a slut, but as one of my fellow posters expressed it, ups to you, Lady Gaga!!

My best friend and I were talking a few months ago about how it seems that the girls in the up and coming generation seem to be much more feminine than our counterparts (he's 26 and I'm 29). Paradox of choice anyone?

As for what Gaga said, it's horseshit. Just more of that "you're a special snowflake, no matter who you are" crap. She's 26 now, and from what I can gather has been at it since '05. She's quite harsh on the eyes when she's not all done up, dresses flamboyantly, and has experimented with drugs. It would seem to me that she's probably ridden quite a few cocks and she's looking to cash in now while her stock is still sky high.

I honestly think that we're seeing a practical cultural pushback. Millenial girls were too young to see or be a part of the fight that their mothers and grandmothers took part in for "liberation" (kicking off the sexual revolution).

While they've benefited from that revolution somewhat, they've also seen the downsides-the spinsters and other assorted harpies we talk about who help to make feminism a dirty word are their mothers, aunts, etc. They've seen where these women end up, and they're not sure they want to go there (though the whole sex and the city fantasy still appeals to them).

They've also seen the bitchmade men produced within the last 30-40 years as a result of the efforts their mothers/grandmothers/aunts made. They've spent a lifetime watching these men getting in touch with their "sensitive side" and placing them on a pedestal simply because they have vaginas. Instead of settling for these "nice" dudes (the kind the older feminist generation assumed would make things better), they've rightfully friendzoned them and started fantasizing about Christian Grey, immortal un-dead bloodsuckers/flesh-eaters, and ruthless criminals on bikes, among other similar things.

Women are more practical than we sometimes give them credit for. Any pushback you're seeing today (which I contend is happening, as our anecdotes, Gaga's words and other elements of our popular culture seem to show) is simply the result of women acquiescing to their own biology. Their mothers thought they could burn a few bras, spout a few whimsical/fantastical truths and get around their own DNA. Their daughters (who are not boomers and have grown up in a much less ideal time with less room for fantasy/error) are realizing that this won't work, and they're just coming to terms with that...slowly.

Anyone who believes a word out of lady gagas mouth is a fool regardless of sex. She is one of the biggest reasons women (and men) are such a problem today with attitude, appearance, and personal beliefs. First she promoted sluttitude, then uninhibited sex (fine ill give her that), then homosexuality, followed by a bunch of weird wardrobe displays and personas that would have got her shot 70 years ago. She is one of the biggest feminists and gay rights supporters out there who's had a legendary impact (albeit negative) on society. She's got women wrapped around her finger, now she wants all men as well. Examine the final parts in her paragraph and you'll see her reasoning is corrupt. SHE picks the right guy, SHE lets him have it. Typical feminist garbage sweetly worded to appeal to males. Guys, dont be fooled. We know better.

I'm not so sure Athlone. Girls in college right now (the target group I bang) have some of the most carefree attitudes to sex I've seen, just as slutty as they were when I was in college if not more.

I think most of these girls will end up spinsters.

I no longer see women as capable of having as much individuality or free will as men. They are essentially animals, and now they've got the run of their own zoo. I have no reason to believe that letting them take the wheel is going to be better for society.

Gaga read The Game and has actually claimed to use some of Neil Strauss techniques to further her career. But, it makes sense- look at her, she's kind of like a man.

I didn't say they wouldn't remain sexually open. The patriarchy that once existed here during the mid-20th century is dead and it is not coming back-girls are going to fuck who they like as often as they like. What I said was that girls have seen some the larger downsides of the revolution their mothers led (the sexual freedom in their youth isn't one of them), and they're being more cautious as they go down that path.

That doesn't mean they won't fuck who they want. It means they're going to start being more honest about their feelings regarding "nice guys" (who will continue to get rightfully friendzoned, probably at even higher rates than before), and perhaps more submissive (and maybe even easier to bang) when they find a man who isn't a pussy. They've seen the new feminized, sensitive male created by their mothers' efforts, and they don't like him. This is why they're running to the opposite extreme in greater numbers, and being more submissive and sexually carefree when they get there (much to the awe of the many "nice guys" sitting at home pining for them).

The girls are voting with their feet-they don't want to live on a pedestal, and they don't want the "nice guys" their mothers figured would be right for the world. They want real men they can actually respect/look up to, and they want to submit to those real men when they find them.

They're also going to be more wary of the "have it all" meme their mothers promoted (those same mothers themselves are warning them about this) because, while you're right to say that many will still end up spinsters, an increasingly larger number of them have seen said spinsters and don't want to become them (check some of the comments on these articles, btw). Many of them are finding out that they don't want to work like men either.

These warning signs all point to large failures with regard to the gender-equality experiment, and girls aren't blind enough to miss them. They'll adapt. The feminist dream is failing, and it either changes or it dies-I'm betting on the former.
