I didn't want to start another thread and this thread has mentioned italki.

When I search and then click on someone, when I try to go back all the search criteria disappears. Anyone have this problem? Any solutions? Thanks.

I have to bump this thread because I only found it two days ago but in these two days I've made more progress in a language that all other days combined.

It's absolutely amazing in my opinion and a fun and addicting way to learn a a language. All those small points gets the dopamine rush going so I'm enough motivated to try and go on to the next one.

Obviously I wasn't a total newbie to spanish before but tonight was the first time I could have basic conversation with my gf.

And I can't wait to jump into some other languages. This is perfect for killing time if you're on the bus or whatever.

I already speak six languages and it was a total pain in the ass to learn them, so boring, but now I've never had this much fun learning a new language.

Amazing!

So does anyone know if the leader board on Duolingo is for the entire global user base? Because if it is I'm apparently in the top 100 haha.

I used Duolingo heavily for around a year or so. Great for building vocabulary and simple grammar. Now I'm considering paying for a Babbel subscription, which gives more detailed lessons. Seems it can take you much further, one reviewer said it brought him to level C1 in French which is close to fluency.

I really enjoy Duolingo. Easy, straightforward, and practical. My only complaint is the pronunciation seems highly variable from other sources.
