Anyone have knowledge of Mazatlan, Mexico?

I'm trying to get info on Mazatlan MX. In particular how it might compare to Puerto Vallarta, as far as nightlife and ease of hooking up/dating.

I have never been to Mazatlan, but I am also curious about how it is. Last year in Guadalajara, I met a Mexican girl of German descent whose parents own some restaurants in Mazatlan. Every once in a while, she e-mails me asking me to go visit her. If anyone has either lived in Mazatlan or has spent a significant amount of time there, a full data sheet would be greatly appreciated.

Mazatlán has the best looking women of all the country, since at the beginning of the 20th century, this city received a big influx of French, Russian, and American inmigrants. There was a time where inmigrants were a majority in Mazatlán and Los Mochis, another Sinaloan city. I am a Mexican and have been there two times. I just can tell you that there are two places which are a must: Señor Frog's and Bora Bora. If you are going to accomodate in a 4+ star hotel you should ask the front desk to get you the tickets for those places, otherwise it's going to be a little dificult to get them. As for the ease of hooking up, I'd tell you it's a little less easier than Vallarta. As you may have noticed when you visited Vallarta, that city is the gay capital of Mexico, that fact has contributed to ease up the hooking environmet. Mazatlán is smaller than Vallarta, so you have less options, but in general you can do well, also if you're a gringo. Caution: Under no circunstance get out of the city, also at night -drug wars related violence is rampant these days in the whole state.

With God's help, I'll conquer this terrible affliction.

So true. Some people don't realize what a melting pot some parts of Mexico really are. I know a fair share of Swedish-Mexicans, German-Mexicans, and Irish-Mexicans. You guys supposedly adopted the term "naco" from some Irish soldiers who were calling everyone "knackers" in Mexico.

Back to the topic. Does Mazatlan have an international airport? What is the best way to get there from the United States. I usually fly direct on Continental from Houston or American Airlines from Dallas to whatever Mexican city I am headed to. Is it possibly to do that to get to Mazatlan without having to connect in Chilangolandia or Guadalajara? I hate the D.F. airport and haven't used it in twenty years.

Some of the urban legends say that most of the soldiers of Napoleon III's French Army which invaded Mexico during the Reform War (1857-1861) and who were defeated just ran away to the North Pacific Coast and settled in towns of the State of Sinaloa, and that's why these days you can find tall, leggy and fair skinned women in that particular area of Mexico unlike the rest of the country where people are short and dark skinned. Anyway, as I said, Mazatlán got a huge influx of inmigrants in the beginning of the past century. Los Mochis, another coastal city was, in fact, founded by a group of American settlers lead by one Albert Kimsey Owen, who wanted to create a perfect communist society in Mexico, a kind of hipster commune where everything, from food to women, belonged to everybody (and this happened in 1903, 60 years before the Sixties Revolution). The utopia worked for about 30 years and then colapsed. However, today you can find blonde, leggy women in that town or families with American Surnames.
There are a number of direct flights from some American cities to Mazatlán. 'Naco' is the short form of 'Totonaco', the name of an indigenous tribe in Central Mexico. For all of you who don't know what Merenguero is talking about, 'naco' is a derogatory term used against dark skin people of the lower classes or just people who do impolite things in public. In some way, it's as derogatory as 'Nigga' in America. In the region known as 'El Bajío', a kind of Mexican Bible Belt, (Central and North of Jalisco, Guanajuato and some parts of Michoacán) 'meco' is used instead of 'naco'. 'Meco' is the shortened way of 'Chichimeco', a small but brave Indian tribe which resisted to the very last European colonization in the 16th century. So, if you hear someone in Guadalajara yelling at another person: ¡Meco!, it means 'Asshole!' or 'Fuck you!'

I have read that explanation too and I don't doubt that it is correct, but you have to admit that the word "naco" in Mexico has a very similar meaning and pronunciation as the word "knacker" in Ireland and there was some Irish immigration to Mexico, especially in the ninetenth century, so natives of Ireland may very well have been using the word "knacker" fluently in Mexico. I don't doubt that your explanation is correct, however. I have actually read both explanations for the origin of the word.

Luvianka:

Is there any hotels in Mazatlan which you recommend? Are there any good daygame spots? Is there any point to visiting any other parts of Sinaloa? I apologize for asking so many questions, but you seem to be pretty knowledgeable on Mazatlan. You may want to put together a full data sheet if and when you get a chance. My dad was a huge fan of Sinaloa and raved about that part of Mexico my whole life. He was much more familiar with Los Mochis than he was with Mazatlan.

I cannot help you much as I just spent 2 and 3 days the two times I was there and I stayed in an all inclusive hotel (Quijote Inn). Anyway, in the area known as Marina Mazatlán most of the tourists are Americans and Canadians, and these hotels have adult oriented activities. Sinaloa is a beautiful state, it's the breadbasket of the country and there are many atractions to see. In your first trip you can focus on Mazatlan and Los Mochis.

Anyone have knowledge of Mazatlan, Mexico?

My initial interest in posting this is because I have a family friend who lives there sometimes. She is like 65 years old, white, from the US. She lived there low budget a few years ago, and is just in love with the place. I think she lived there a few times for extended periods.

She actually told me the following about Mazatlan (no joke, this is a 65 year old woman):

The guys there are known to sleep around. Mexican women can't have friends because the husbands cheat too easily. ALSO, she knew a young italian man who had several girlfriends. And Mexican men would also drop off their 16 year old daughters to stay at his apartment for a few days, hoping they would eventually fall in love and get hitched. I guess the fathers hoping for a meal ticket from a "rich" foreigner. I do not condone underage or illegal sex, just repeating what this family friend told me.

Anybody else have any more useful info on Mazatlan?

Yeah, I'm stoked for more info. This thread has been an interesting read. I love DR chicks, but man, let me find a place in Ole Mexico where I can bang 1 chica per week, and I just may pull stakes and go. Mexican girls have always held a special place in my heart. Damn.

Anyone have knowledge of Mazatlan, Mexico?

I just returned to Guadalajara after 2 days in Mazatlan. Here's my perspective.

I got there on Saturday. Paid 100 pesos ($7.50 US) for a bedroom in a hostel without A/C. Man, was it hot. This time of year is like interior of florida hot. Went out early saturday night. went north to zona dorada (tourist area). Asked 2 women at a starbucks for good bars. As I was walking off they asked me where I was from, etc. I talked for a little while. They were older, maybe 40, but decent looking. One was average weight but with DD cups. When I told them I was staying in a cheap motel they lost some interest.

Went bar hopping. This is the only time I can recall in mexico being consistenly bothered at the clubs to buy a drink. I like to check out the clientel first, because I often hop to 20 or more places in a night. But some of these waiters dogged my ass. annoying. But the clubs were jumping. not too crowded this time of year (summer is too hot). Nice clubs which fronted the shore. The beach here is not amazing at all, but whatever.

The club scene seemed pretty Fresa to me. I go for the down to earth type girls. Some girls seemed approachable. I think a good looking chap/ and or with lots of game could do okay here.

I don't think I saw a single foreigner the entire night. This is the time of year for gringo free sarging.

I bounced to old downtown. Plenty of clubs here too. Everything from a cheers type place with kickin salsa music to LA type dance clubs with fresas. I couldn't get into some of the clubs because of my shorts. which is retarded because its @#$ hot outside. Opened some sets at tables at a restaurant. That's always fun because the waiters don't know what the hell you are doing, especially when you open from the sidewalk over a railing. Anyhow got some facebooks. The bar scene was either fresa, 40 somethings, or chicks with boyfriends. One set was hot but wouldn't talk to me. You might do okay in one of the loud ass dance clubs I didn't get into (one seemed slightly middle class, aka easier) . I did get into one dance club but it seemed a little fresa to me.

Tried to day game on sunday. mostly walked through the old town and the shore. Saw almost no sets. The zona dorada might be better but didn't go there.

The city itself did not impress me. Sections of the shore are very pretty though, especially fronting the old downtown. But I didn't venture all the way into the neighborhoods away from the shore. When I was at the bus station leaving, I saw hotels with AIR conditioning for $12 a night, near the zona dorada.

I was told that every night the bars are open in zona dorada. seems like it could be a fun town to live for a while. The heat and the apparent lack of down to earth hippy type girls eventually drove me away. but for someone into fresa/club game at the beach in a relatively cheap city, this could be a good place. What I liked is that its not gringo. You see mexicans when you go out, and most are local. You can get around pretty easy. Cheap hotels are conveniently located within a 20 minute walk of bars. Taxis are like $3 in town. as far as safety, I am cheap, so I don't take taxis much. I was walking around late at night near my hotel and to centro. Was never bothered. Funny late night bar on the beach called "Bum Bum" which served low end locals. wish I had a picture.

Interesting report. It seems as though you have a pretty mixed opinion of Mazatlan. How would you compare Mazatlan to Guadalajara? I like Guadalajara. My only complaint is the overall conservativeness of the women and the culture there. Volume in Guadalajara is obviously better than in Mazatlan. In your opinion, is there any point to visiting Mazatlan or would it be better to just stay in Guadalajara?

Bumping this thread.

Anyone been to Mazatlan recently? I’ll be there next month for a week or so. Been pipelining a bit with decent results. Any suggestions on how to game Mexican girls? I’ll be staying in Zona Dorada so my plan is to pipelinine, invite to a nearby spot, then go for the pull. A couple of nights will be spent on night game, and occasional dg as time allows. Thinking of doing the Tequilla / Blue Agave plantation tour etc.

Also, pm me if anyone will be in town too.

Someone posted on another Mexico thread that Mazatlan sucks, a well repped RVF member whose word I highly respect also said it was pretty lame and that the Cancun area (Playa Del Carmen, Tulum, etc) is much better, this was last month while we were hanging out in PDC so the subject of other Mexican resort towns came up.

Mazatlan is a place that families go to. I don't think it's a place to find women. ( I have been there a few days) I think you would have better luck going South to the bigger cities.

Anyone have knowledge of Mazatlan, Mexico?

Yes I have. I was there for 9 days. Was my last stop in 4 months in Mexico.

As for gaming girls in Mexico, I've written extensively on it:

thread-47180.html (Guadalajara)
thread-62363.html (Mexico City)
thread-61395.html (Monterrey)

Anyway, back to Mazatlan. It's no Playa del Carmen, but it's not bad either. Joe's Oyster Bar is a club on the beach with sand that gets packed on the weekends. If you want more nightlife recommendations, just stop a pair or trio of girls walking around town, and tell them you're visiting not from there and ask them where they recommend going out.

Zona Dorado was a bit quieter than I expected. I lived there as well.

I was successful by going to the nicer parts of the Centro area to game girls on the street in the late afternoon through the mid-evening. That's where my bang came from, a girl who was waiting at the bus stop around 8 pm on a Monday or Tuesday, and I asked her, "is this the place to wait for the buses to go back to zona dorado?" Got her number just before her bus came. A few days later, took her to a bar then smashed back at my apartment.

I didn't game online at all in Mexico, so I have no experience. If you've had results in other cities with online, I'm sure Mazatlan would be no different.

Mazatlán is not worth a trip for the girls. If you want to go for the beauty of the coast, sure. It might be worth a stop if you are travelling to other more game friendly locations in that part of Mexico. But I basically regretted having travelled that far out of central Mexico to visit Mazatlán. I only did it because an old female friend of the family loves Mazatlán for the people, natural beauty, culture, etc. Although, personally thought Oaxaca and Guanajuato were nicer for that.

I think Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta would be much better combo if you're in that part of Mexico. If you are already planning on travelling that coastline, then sure, stop in Mazatlán for a day or two.

Imho. The best thing Mazatlan has going for it is the surf fishing, especially in November. Nice place, lots of Canadians, not too many chicas.
