Should a missing front tooth affect my game?

Get it fixed...a gap in the front of your mouth is just too much to overcome.
I would look into getting a partial denture aka "flipper". Shop around.
My prices- flipper 350. Implants -900, and 1k for implant crown(porcelain over gold)+abutment.
And I work in LA. My prices are on the lower end, but your area might be cheaper....

I have a friend back home who plays up the redneck shtick just a bit. He has no trouble pulling with his broken off front tooth but they're not exactly quality girls that he tends to pull.

Go get that fixed ASAP. I too chipped both my front teeth one night about 4 years ago when I was in a drunken stupor. The next day I was sitting in my Dentists office getting a consult on what needed to be done. He sent me to a specialist that does only root canals, as I needed one, and then told me to come back and see him once that was completed. Three days later I walked out of the office with temporary crowns that you couldn't tell weren't the real thing. Then, after sufficient healing time following the root canal (about 6 weeks), I was fitted with two permanent crowns. They were expensive. Like $1500 each, but look amazing. Plus, they have that feature where you can't see the real tooth underneath as time goes on. The whole thing ended up costing me nearly $5000 when you factor in all the work he did, the root canal, and the crowns. Luckily insurance picked up about half of the costs. I had a slight ache in one of the crowned teeth for about 2 months after getting it placed, but it gradually went away and is no longer present at all. Good luck.

The question is why does a missing tooth look so bad? Is there a country where missing tooths are no big deal?
I know in South America and Eastern Europe, dental hygiene is a bit more lax. You don't get judged for not having a Hollywood smile.

Some countiries may be more lax, but a missing tooth is still un-aesthetic.
A missing tooth in the front of the mouth looks bad, because teeth are in your mouth. Speech comes from your mouth, and teeth dictate your smile.
When in school, we learned that people can tell the difference in tooth slant between the two front teeth of greater than 6 degrees. They might not know something is wrong, but they will have a subconscious feeling that symmetry is off.
Hollywood smile is a mouth full of "chiclet crowns" (white/square looking teeth), which by the way is all fake. Trust me, I do some of this work.
As to why, well media/celebrity worship is the main reason for "hollywood smile" and bleaching products.

Hey DVY,
This is a bit off-topic, but have you got any helpful tips on maintaining crown longevity? As I'm sure you well know, these things ain't cheap, and I'd like them to last as long as possible as I'm very happy with the results. I wanna get the most bang for my buck. I floss daily and use Listerine twice daily (AM & PM). Is there anything else I should be doing that can make a difference?

@ CMAN Dont crunch very hard foods like nuts, tofee pieces. Dont eat sticky foods w/caramel, laffy taffy. Those foods are crown destroyers. Otherwise expect the crown to last 5-7 years. Anything more than that is "free usage".
Cheers.
