Something to consider to for that do want children

Sorry to put a downer on this forum via this topic, I just came across this today.

http://www.economist.com/node/21560836?f...herfigures

Most pointedly...

Quote:Quote:

Mothers transmitted an average of 14 mutations to their children, regardless of age. Fathers showed a much wider range: 20-year-olds passed on an average of 29 mutations; 30-year-olds (the average age of fatherhood in Dr Stefansson’s sample) passed on 49; and 40-year-olds passed 69.

1. Are mutations necessarily a bad thing?

Quote:Quote:

There is, of course, the question of how much this matters, for most mutations have little effect—and a rare few, the stuff of evolution, are actually beneficial. According to Alexey Kondrashov of the University of Michigan, an expert on the matter who wrote an article in Nature to accompany Dr Stefansson’s study, about 10% of mutations are damaging. This means that for the average baby, six of Dr Stefansson’s 63 mutations are probably up to no good.

10% are damaging, the rest are harmless, and maybe 1% are beneficial? Hardly a cause for alarm.

2. The article downplays the importance of the mother's age by just focusing on her eggs, and not the body that houses them. The reason why aging mothers are bad for birthing babies is not just because of the declining quality of her eggs, but the overall quality of her body and uterus itself. The woman's entire body is a baby incubator, and making sure the incubator is of the highest quality possible is paramount for giving adequate nutrition and development for the embryo.

One of our brothers is having a child. I look up to him. He has been to over 50 countries. I still dont know exactly what he does but he is a hustler. I met him in BKK this year. I dont know if he is excited. He may be. He digs is girl but to have a baby with her?

Another one of my homeboys is having one. He moved to Rio and never looked back. His girl is gorveous and has money. He is hustling also. Might be my plug to move to Rio in two years. Almost went in with him for workout sups. His first child.

My cousin is also having one. Dude stayed with me for two years. Moved here from Belize in '03. Smokes weed all day everyday so you would think the little guys wouldnt be swimming for that egg. Maybe he stopped.

Shit is scary. 18 years with that woman in your life. Responsibility and stability. Can you be an international player and be a great Dad? That is my biggest fear. Having a child. I can accept dying tomorrow over having a child at this point in my life. All of this news I found out in the last three days.

I need to stop rawdogging.

The cycle of disrespect can start with just an appetizer.
