Boca and South Beach trip report

Boca and South Beach trip report

I was just in Miami for LDW and will add to what Menance said.

Foxhole - owned by the same people who own the Korean Bbq place next door (Drunken Dragon) which I highly recommend as it's a great date dinner spot or a good warmup. Upstairs they have a bunch of weapons like tommy guns, rpgs, ak 47s, mounted on the wall. Entry is down an alley through a blank door(there is a red light above it), and there is a wrap around bar and pool table inside. It was pretty good when we stopped by around 1.

Bodega - the Miami Beach Hotspot currently. Went there twice, Saturday and Monday. They had a tough door Saturday (there at 11, in at 1130 only because the female hostess hooked us up) and we saw about 15 people ahead of us who got to the door and knew they weren't getting in. There are two doors, the main entrance looks like a Porta Potty but the hostess took us through a second one which is down a hallway by the kitchen Talent was a bit lower than SOBE but overall much more approachable. Also a great place for late night snacks, there is a second door that is actually in the middle of the line to get into the Lounge part you can use to get right to the food spot.

Went back on Labor Day and it was still a good time but no line and about 3/4 full. A nice touch is they gave yu a free Tequila shot as you enter.

Barton Gs - high end dining but we went for the bar on Monday as well. $30+ martinis (with liquid nitrogen) and the most concentrated amount of talent on the whole trip. There were tables and tables full of modelesque women done up and the bar is a good place to post up. A very G Manifesto spot.

Floatopia - this is an event that takes place in the ocean right off Nikki Beach. Thousands of people turn out to just sit in the water in floaties and chill on the beach. A very "spring break in Cancun" feel and the best time for beach approaches the whole trip due to the sheer amount of people in such a small portion of the beach.

For those who only stay in south beach I highly recommend vebturing out to Miami Beach for just one night, it's only 6 blocks away but worth it.

What does this mean? South Beach is a neighborhood in the City of Miami Beach like the Lower East Side is a neighborhood in Manhattan. Thanks for the tips on Bodega and Barton Gs. We have two guys now saying Bodega is pretty good, so I will have to check it out.

What kind of crowd goes to Bodega, locals, tourists, or mixed? I'm thinking it's mixed since it's way off of the beach, but maybe you can tell me for sure.

My bad (from NYC myself) I thought South Beach and Miami Beach were two different parts of Miami like East Village/West Village.

What is the area 6 blocks or so west of say Ocean or Collins called?

Bodega looked liked a mixed crowd on Saturday more tourist heavy Monday

I don't know if it has a name. It's basically the west part of South Beach. If you say "Alton Road" or "West Avenue," people will know what you are talking about.
