App for recording voice conversation for Iphone
06-21-2012, 03:19 AM
Does anyone know of any good app for recording voice on the Iphone? This has to be available from the app store in Canada. Please bear in mind that some apps that are available in the US are NOT available in Canada.
The Iphone in mention is UNLOCKED.
Thanks.

The built-in Voice Memos works for me. There are probably tons of voice apps in the store but you didn't say if there are any special features that you require to narrow them down. If you don't require any, then most free apps will probably work for you.

Depends. What's your angle? You wanna record surreptitiously?
If you are going to record only with consent of the other party, you can do so using Google Voice.

^ This was what I was going to get into. I don't think you can find an App that openly says it does this because it is "illegal" to record conversations without a warrant.
BUT.
You could try some music making apps on iphone to do the job. I have a MOOG one which is just a mini-synth but it gives me the ability to "sample" sounds of my iphone. I have not tried it with calls but it samples whatever noises are internilized in the device at that moment. It draids a ton of battery though and I would not think any app would be able to handle this job for a long period.
Search for music/beatmaking/production apps that let you sample sounds.
The App I have is this:
Animoog - by MOOG
Try it out.
OR
Get a audio spliter that gives you two mono cords. Its a tricky step I am just thinking of the top of my head but basically you would be recording into a pc or some other box like a voice recorder but still having the ability to splice it back out so you can talk into a mic and listen. Basically a bootleg version of that the cops would do back in the day tapping and splicing into your landline.

I think the audio stream from the voice calls is sandboxed and not available to apps in general, but someone may have found a workaround I suppose.
