Is this a decent looking suit?
I was out with a mate, both suited up. We had some good responses, especially an American tourist chick, but I just didn't feel to comfortable. Probably because it's a cheap untailored one...
dark jeans, vneck + jacket w/ pocket square looks good though and also feels great.
What about suit w/ vneck instead of shirt? Looks actually quite good, but maybe its a big no?

I did a quick search, and it seems that black is really only for formal wear, or a funeral.
Personally, I disagree with this, but that is neither here nor there.
Well, I was just going by what the traditional rules for wearing black is. From reading around a little, and going over a few pages of that thread I posted, not wearing black outside of formal situations has been a sartorial rule for awhile. I believe it originated around the 1930's.
Does the rule really matter? No. I just find it helpful to know some of these rules because I am a newb to suits. As I have said before, I am a 20 year old guy. My experience with suits is low, so knowing a couple of these rules is helpful when buying a suit. Personally, I am going to start out with the safe choices like charcoal and navy. After I have had a few years of experience with buying suits, I will expand to black to add a bit of flair to my style, but for now I am going to follow the old (and long forgotten by many) rules.
Edit: I will say though, in my last post on this thread. I did make the mistake of posting suits that I like instead of the ones that speakeasy was looking for.
I'm in the anti-black suit crowd. With the exception of going to a funeral or driving a limo, I can't think of any situation where a charcoal grey suit wouldn't be preferable to black. I'm just not a big fan of black during the day and at night charcoal grey looks just about the same.
Also, be careful with the bargain suits. They may look good, but are probably not made very well. If it's something you're going to wear once a month out to a lounge, it may not be a big deal. If you plan to give it regular wear, it's almost always better to find a decent brand and decent cut. It will last a lot longer.

Any experience with the budget suit like the one I posted from ebay?
One man's thoughts on the black suit. I agree with what he says.
^^^ Yes. Grey is my favorite, but the Black Suit/Black shirt combo should be a staple. Simple and elegant. If I can't figure out something else, I rock black. The problem with it is that your jacket better fit perfectly. Not for beginners. If it doesn't fit right, or the material is cheap, someone's going to ask you to take them to the airport.
Black on black is really good for nightclubs too.
You look like you own the motherf*cking joint.

I was re-arranging my closet and found the suit I wear to funerals. I don't know much about suits. I have a bright blue pocket square, how would that look with the black and red color scheme? Is a tie necessary? What about the shoes? I have another pair that look similar to these
I feel good wearing it. I think it looks good, but, I could use some opinions.
How is this suit working out for you?
Let's get a little update.
No offense, but those shoes are ghastly.
I accidentally ruined the suit jacket. It got lumped into a huge load of dark colors and went into the washing machine.
No worries though.

Suits should always be taken care of by professionals.
Well yeah haha it was an accident.
I still remember my reaction when I found it lying motionless, sleeves wrapped around the spinning thing in the Washing machine. Attempts to revive it proved futile. I had to lay the suit to rest.

I only launder money.
Hey, what do you guys think of this as a starter suit? It's on sale for $150 at Macy's. Sorry, I'm not quite ready for bespoke Italian. Don't have that kind of bankroll to be dropping a few Gs on a suit just yet.

Jump in the Game holmes.
Rush it.
Is that black or charcoal? My eyes aren't the best I can't quite tell. Charcoal or navy are the most versatile I think, would be a good idea to start with one of those if you're a novice.
Hey my man G, why don't you ever post pics of your suits?

Damn near picked that 1 up for my first suit a month back. It was on sale for 109. Go to Macys and check it out. They likely wont have your size in the store but at least you can see it in person. I still may pick it up. Let me know what you think if you decide to.
I sorta like this color better but I really don't know wtf I'm talking about.

Modern suits often have, in my opinion, a very shabby build to them, and the cloth wears out way too easily. You'll notice that in a tailored suit, there's extra cloth in the crotch, among other places, and that the lapels are stitched, not glued (which is why they kinda puff-up when the suit gets wet). If you're going to buy a made-in-China, off-the-rack suit, get 2 pair of trousers for each jacket, and dry clean that shit sparingly.
I still have not found my go-to suit-man, but I found a bespoke tailor in my area (suits €2,500) who also does measurements for Jo Freyherr in Germany (made-to-measure suits @ €1,000, which I'm much more willing to pay), who seem pretty serious about their work. My German is a bit shabby, though. But I'm going to vist that tailor for my next suit and will let everyone know how it goes.

Yeah, those suits above will fall apart.
Stepping out of your house: a button pops off.
Reaching in your pocket for a Zippo, your pocket rips. That kind of sh*t.
But for a starter to get in the Game they are fine.
Hell, for $100, you can use it as a kitchen rag when you done.
