Personally, I find the knee-jerk reactions to feminism as annoying as I find feminism itself. If you're so weak-minded that you allow your wife, or ex-wife or whatever she is, to goad you into punching her dead in her facial features on video, I find it hard to have sympathy for you.
What knee jerk reaction to feminism are you talking about? They say they want to be equal, treat them equally, and hold them to the same standards as you would a man. Stop downplaying her actions with words like "goad". She hit him twice. It doesn't matter if she's small and incapable of delivering a damaging blow. It's the intent to cause cause injury that matters. Regardless of your strength and ability, when you punch or hit someone, you generally have displayed the intent to injure them.

The day you find yourself standing in front of a judge (in either a custody hearing or a criminal trial) saying things like, "but your honor, she started it," is the day you have officially lost. What are the chances this guy can even get split custody of his kids now? Dude will be meeting his kids in Borders like the Kanye song. Why be that guy in the first place?
The aftermath is irrelevant. Judging by the opinions here, we already know he'll get fucked. But if you want to talk about the aftermath and make speculations, I'm game. Let's speculate that he really snaps after being hit and decides to put her face through the TV or the wall. Yes, he'll probably go to jail. Will putting his ass in jail take her out of a wheelchair, or put her face back together? Will it make her whole again? Fuck no! In the end, they're both still losers.

You can be the loser sitting around complaining how he got screwed by feminism or you can be smart and avoid the trouble all together. I know which path I prefer.
You are correct in suggesting that if he were smart, he would have not allowed himself to be drawn into the situation. The only sympathy I feel is for the kids who have some shitty sorry excuses for parents. I agree that he should have left. Two wrongs don't make a right. I'm not excusing his behavior. He didn't have a right to hit her. But at the same time, she didn't have a right to hit him. When you hit someone, the only reasonable thing you can expect is for them to hit you back. This is part of the risk you assume. The other part of the risk is that if and when they do hit back, they're going to hit you harder. If you're not prepared to get hit back, then you shouldn't raise your fists in the first place.
I started this thread because I had assumed that people would have picked up on the same things I noticed:
1. She hits him unprovoked, and immediately proceeds to claim self defense. I had hoped people would have picked up on the uglier side of the rationalization hamster.
2. After he hit her, she didn't make a sound until she saw her kids, at which point, she turned on the tears and moaning for maximum effect, looking for the sympathy vote from the kids.
