First impressions on Floripa:

Yesterday (thurday) I was in El divino, it was a hip hop party. The best part was taking a dump on a cushion toilet seat. Honestrly there were only three girls above 16 years old. My and my wing opened two of them. Good vibe, etc, the third one was alone and eventually told the otheres to leave(To the Banheiro). The cover for El Divino was 60 reais, If you have dinner they will discount it from your final paymentnner there so it was worth it. Cool Caipirinhas.

I was in Floripa in the end of February, which means end of high season begining of low season. I was surprised with how safe Floripa is. In the beach areas you don´t feel any threat.

I think Lumiére already mentioned place. It´s 100 mts from the beach Praia Mole, which was the best beach regarding hotties. The owner Alexandre was super cool. His like a 40 years old surfer. Me and my wing arrived at 02:00am and he brought us some Perdigão Pizza to eat. He also let us stay one night for free on the apartment. A genuine friendly person. He also has some free surfboards if you wanna try surfing.
The house was cheap.

I don´t think it was the cheapest, but if you don´t wanna waste time looking for a rent a car, localiza is a good option.
Renting a car is mandatory in Floripa.
Where to eat:
You have a lot of places to eat in Lagoa da Conceição. The seafood is good. But if you wanna save some cash the best is that you have dinner in El Divino.
In El Divino the cover charge is 60 Brazilian Reais without any drink. But if you go there before 22:00, you can have dinner there, (the food is very good) and the money you spend in the dinner will be included in the final payment. This means that you can have dinner for the 60 reais you would spend simply in the cover charge. Normally the club starts getting packed at 23:00 so you don´t have a big lag time from when you finish your dinner till you go pumping. I usually spent 110 reais in El Divino which is a ok price for dinning and clubbin. If you decide to go have dinner there ask for a waitress called Silvane. She´s not hot but she´s nice and honest and will give every discount, promotion that you´re entitled to. I drank so much Caipirinha in el divino that my tooth started hurting.
Inside El Divino you should buy the VIP bandwrist. It costs around 15 reais. Depending on the night.
Where to party:
El Divino in Centro was full every night so I guess if you don´t know any other party it´s a good option.
Thursdays was hip hop night in El Divino. The average age of girls was bellow 18 years old.
Friday I went to Confraria da Artes in Lagoa da Conceição. The place was packed. The Cover Charge was 40 reais. Me and my wing were sitting on a couch three girls just asked if they good sit with us. They were good looking girls, one 7 and two 8´s. The problem with Floripa is that girls are normally in groups of three. So this means that there´s one (normally the ugliest) that will try to ruin the night.
While we talk with with this girls, it was funny to realise how they would try to show how they´re blood was italian or german, with no mix whatsoever with brazilians. I found it to be ridiculous, but they were hot...
Saturday: During the day we went to an insane pool party in Parador which is located in Jurerê. The quality was unbelievable. When I saw the entrance line I almost started to cry with the quantity and quality of the girls. It was the summer closing party. Inside it was like heaven. I had never been to such an incredible party. The thing in Floripa is that it´s all directed to cash. You will not get laid unless you have incredible game or if you don´t show cash. The girls there as Alexandre told us are Class A. They have more cash than you dream of. Of course there´s also some wannabe´s.
In parador the cover was 60 reais. I payed 40 reais cause I bought a ticket form a guy that was selling outside. It was risky but payed off.
In the night everybody talked about Pacha. Me and my wing were already drunk so we spent like 3 hours looking for the place with the car, till we eventually quit and went to bed.
Sunday: Went to El Divino to a Samba party. It was our last real night in Floripa, cause we knew that in mondays it´s all closed. We opened a special convo that costed like 300 reais (one bottle of Greygoose, one of Champgne and 6 red bulls). Bought the VIP bandwrist. And from one moment to the other everybody were our friends. Payed 20 reais to every bouncer I met, cause I knew we were drinking too much. So I´m meeting girls left and right. A popular dude named guilherme introduces me to 8´s and 9´s while the fucker drinks from our Vodka.
I´m having a great time, when a bouncer tells me my wing is not feeling well. So I go to an inside corridor and see him on the floor sleeping. I slap him around trying to wake him up. Eventually give up and drive home passing some red lights on the way. Me and him payed something like 1400 reais total. I had never spent some much cash in a club.
There was a club called Scuna, that some people recommend us going there cause it suposedly had easier and older girls, also there´s a bar called John Bull with Rock music. You might wanna check it out.
Girls: I was in Floripa for 5 days. It´s not enough time. I think for going to Floripa you should consider at least one week if not two. I had some make outs but no bangs, which is a complete failure. Go in groups of at least three guys, the fact that we normally would talk with groups of three girls (cause they were not much groups of 2 or 4 girls) made the picking ups harder.
Girls are not easy, but I would get always good responses from them cause I´m portuguese. One said something like: "Você é de Portugal que legal" (you´re from Portugal that´s so cool). The game of brazilian guys is tight. In clubs it seems like war.
The girls in Floripa are incredibly hot. I´ve been to Rio and consider Floripa to have hotter girls in that time of the year.
Generally speaking Brazilian girls have better bodies than eastern europeans, mostly because of their asses, cause in faces they go hand in hand.
Beaches:
There´s already lot of info about the beaches on this thread. For me Praia Mole was the best, you can´t swim there because of the waves. Be prepared to see helicopters landing on the beach dropping of some rich people. Canavieiras is full of argentineans and sucks cause there´s only one inch of sand. Praia Brava was ok I guess in high season it´s a good beach to party. Jurerê beach was also ok. I didn´t went to Barra da Lagoa, but I´ve talked with more than one chick telling me it was their favourite beach.

Wow, 1400 reais is a lot of money, but I can see that it really got you the royal treatment. This is making me think I need to lock down a club here in Cordoba. It would only cost 1/5 to do it here. I gotta find the right club first.

Pepini, yeah the basic problem with floripa is that
1) Its very easy to drop a lot of cash at clubs and still not get laid
2) Its only rocking a few months of the year. The rest of the time its fairly dead and you are left with the local chicks who are not all that attractive.
Like you, I didnt get laid there but I at least avoided the club cover scene trap

The owner of the apartment told us that the time when Floripa gets more crowded is in Carnival and new years eve. I might go there again for new years eve for 3 weeks.

I went to floripa for carnaval while I was in brasil. My girlfriend from SP had a friend who had a boyfriend who lived in Sao Jose which is the city on the continent across the bridge from floripa. It was sick we went to the the bloco sujo which was in the centro. It was a huge party they have every year in the centro and it's on friday of time during carnaval. The next day we went to praia mole which is a sick beach in floripa. They have good waves if you surf and some good bars on the beach. This one bar had a party at night with a live DJ. I would recommend going to Praia Mole if you go to floripa. Also I went sand boarding which was fun.

ive been to floripa before. the beaches are beautiful but the nightlife was nonexistent, atleast when i was there. you might have to leave the lagoa and head to the city center to find more action

Currently studying in Florianopolis and here is my write up. I have been here for a month and yes I'm here for the winter but will catch part of the summer. As Roosh mentioned several times, the girls here are make-out sluts but aren't eager to give it up. I'm still trying to figure out of the best approach is "I'm leaving tomorrow" or "I'm staying for a few more months."
Venues
Universities - There are two major universities on the island; UDESC (Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina) and UFSC (Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina). When the semester starts at UFSC which was August 8, there are tons of parties! Everyone heads to the campus and it is an outside party, shoulder to shoulder, with a dance floor and music. They sold 3 Stella Artois for 5 Reais. Good time. They have these types of parties throughout the semester so if you get a chance to go to one I would strongly reccomend it. Younger crowd 18-25.
Clubs
1007 (Mil e sete) - In centro. Definitely an "alternative" club but I went for a party that my school was hosting. Lots of gays that were grinding on each other and making out on the dance floor and cuddling in the lounge but there are also lots of girls ages 18-25. The dance floor gets pretty packed and they played popular American music. Cover was 25R to get in but I found a ticket on the ground and was able to charge most of my drinks to that before they caught me and took it away. Everyone drinks on the street until about midnight and then they go in because beer is 5R for the cheapest which was Devassa and Heiniken was 6R.
John Bull Pub
Bar/Pub in Lagoa area. Cover was around 20R. Live band which played American rock music which they absolutely love in Brazil. Older scene with women 25+. Stayed packed until about 5am when they closed it down.
Chopp de Gus
Bar/Pub with live rock music. The bands are usually pretty good. If you go you have to get the batata de fogo...french fries with 5 cheeses that they heat on the table with a torch. Older scene 25+.
Bokarras
Strip Club that I think is on the continent but I've yet to go. My friends tell me that the strippers are super fine and the cover is 100R but you can drink up to 80R of the cover. You can bang strippers for 200-300R if you're into paying for sex.
Iguatemi
One of the three shopping malls on the island. Lots of beautiful women walking around. Three levels of shopping.
El Divino I went to El Divino and the cover was 60R. Unfortunately I couldn't get in because they told me it was a "festa fechada" or closed party. I found out the next day that they closed it down because Ronaldinho was in town for a match and he came to the club and once he got there they closed it down. Hip hop on thursdays and house/techno on Saturdays.
Other parties - When you're here you will see posters and people passing out flyers for all types of parties. I went to one on Praia Mole at EcoVillage Hotel that was 80R cover and open bar. 150R for VIP access. Live Rap/Funk music. Very young scene! I would be careful with these types of parties.

Praia Joaquina - Even in the winter, if Floripa gets a good sunny day there will be quite a few people on the beach but obviously it won't compare to summer. Beautiful beach with beautiful women.
Jurêre International - The rich mans party scene. North end of the island that is a pretty good drive from the other areas. You can read other write ups about the scene at Jurêre.
Morro do Cruz - Hill of the Cross. High point in the centro that offers a great view of the entire island. Not a spot for gaming but a spot for natural beauty.
More to come over the next few months...I really love it here and am going to try and transfer because I don't want to go back. The beaches, the climate, the people, the women, the food... what's not to love?

It is really hit or miss but generally speaking I would say that the women here are much friendlier than those in the US. They are very eager to help. In my classes its almost a fight to be the girl who gets to help the gringo. I have approached girls on the street with the lost American routine and pulled their numbers in a few minutes. Also, a few of my friends from the US were here for a week and we went to a party. When the girls hear english being spoken, they get very interested..."Where are you from? Being from the US is a big plus for most women.
I had a lot of people tell me that you can get by without speaking portuguese here..I disagree entirely. Day to day necessities would be impossible without portuguese and not that many women speak english in my opinion.

I'm also going to disagree with the majority of the posters about needing a car, but only IF you can speak portuguese. If so, then you should be able to figure out the bus routes and where places are just by asking because everyone here is more than happy to help. Busses are 2.90R to get on and you can get anywhere on the island if you figure out the transfers. A downside to this is getting home from a late night because taxis can tax your wallet pretty hard and the busses stop at midnight.
Report on the first two nights out in Floripa.
First night - Thursday
I met up with forum member Hoops ( nice guy ) for a drink and we went to a few bars on Thursday night. Hoops is living here for a while and had quite a lot of info.
its low season now and the bar scene isn't that great on a Thursday night. The first bar was closed and we had to walk quite far to get back to centro. The Aussie pub was too expensive and it was a sitdown bar with groups of friends hanging out.
The last option was another sitdown bar and we had a few beers there. There were some girls standing around but they were with some beta's who would surely cockblock us. But afterwards i regret not even trying. Hoops left after a while and i went looking for some other bars. it was already late and the Blue velvet bar was closing so i went on determined to find something open. i walked the center street in the middle of the night and felt completly safe. i found another bar still open on Osmar Cunha street. It looked like a lively bar with some people dancing but they asked 13 dolars for me to get in and than i had to buy drinking credit also. i passed on that and went to bed. it was already 3pm in the night. Before i met up with Hoops i downed some pre drink rum and i was getting tired.
last Night - Friday.
Around midnight i went to a (dance) bar recommened by a cool guy working at the hostel. Its called Scuna and its a MILF fest in there.
When i walked in alot of heads turned which was the first time that happened to me in all of South America. I got a beer at the bar and looked around a bit. It was still too early for dancing but things got started 10 minutes later. She said she had to work till 10pm the next day and that i should call her. I wanted to kiss her but she kept a distance, after this she said i could call her but shoulden't expect a kiss or a fuck if we meet up. She was quite drunk.
I guess if she can only meet at 10pm and already says stuff like " dont expect to kiss or fuck , then it waste of time to even call her.

Maybe Brazil has changed a lot since the last time I was there but as far as I remember, walking hand in hand with a black girl was not social proof at all, no matter how beautiful she is (of course the more beautiful, the less bad), like in the rest of Latin America.
