The states have regional slangs as well though. Some of the slangs I use in Colorado, I'll go back to Vegas and use them, and people have no idea what I'm talking about. It might also be due to the fact a lot are snowboard slangs though, for instance if something is "steazy" it has a lot of style.

Hey guys, I live here.. and I know Bolo and have hung out a little with Lumiere.
Florianopolis is definitely harder than the rest of Brasil.
But, compared to the States or many other places.. it is still dead easy!

However, this is not a place to bring your B game.
Gringos are not prizes here... (actually it depends on where you go)
There are too many gringos here!

This place is considered the Riveira of South America!

Lumiere and Bolo both have game by the way [Image: biggrin.gif].

I just wish I was less busy so I could hang with Lumiere more.

p.s. there is a very small community here

Sweet.

Post your thoughts and general tips for floripa please.

Where to go and what nights? Way to re-calibrate your game for brazilian girls? Best time of year to go? Good day game spots?

There's nowhere easier than the states. I guess this all might also have to do with it being easier to pick up girls from your native country as well though.

Hey guys. Bolo here.

I spend 3 months in Florianopolis and it was a pretty fun time. I'll let uncoverlover write up all the best places to sarge and hangout because I completely forgot the names and locations of places. I'll just comment about what I liked and didn't like about Floripa.

I was in Florianopolis from April to August which is considered low season.

First off, I don't know if the women are easier or harder or what since this was my first stop in Brazil. People were friendly and sarging was easy as hell. I was a bit of a novelty, Asian American with a cowboy hat and handcuff necklaces who was ok at gaming. People were giving me there cards to call them and wanted to make friends.

Just about everyone could speak English which was a Godsend. (I was having a hard time gaming the Spanish speaking hotties while in South America).

It was pretty easy getting numbers and day 2s. I didn't need to recalibrate that much from my usual game.

My only problem with Floripa is that it's SPREAD THE FUCK OUT! Even if you take a car, a lot of the hot spots are a good distance away. The bus system will get you there but chances are you're going to have to make a couple of transfers.

Having everything spread out makes going on Day 2s harder. Also, I stayed in the rich area with a friend and if we wanted to game then it was an hour+ bus ride to the closest mall or night spot.

I got a lay there but I think the only reason was because I got lucky with my logistics. She was a 10 minutes bus ride away from me.

If you're going to Floripa to game then you should consider renting a car and looking for good logistics. Maybe undercoverlover can expand on that.

While in Curitiba, I went to Balneario Camboriu, SC for New Years. It was fucking SICK. It had an Ibiza vibe with huge clubs, hot girls, etc. It gets very expensive around that time (For Brazil). I would highly recommend it, though. When I was there, they had Erick Morillo, Fatboy Slim, and I think Tiesto spinning at some of the clubs. I agree that SC is spread out. I had gone with a Brazilian guy who had a friend there with a car. So that definitely made things easier.

And it is great for shopping! u.u

There is a restaurant named Chaplin... the best squid that I had eaten in my entire life.

EVERYBODY tells me the best women in Brazil are located here in Florianopolis, which I guess made my expectations pretty high. But there is no way as many hot girls here than there is in Vitoria. Ive honestly only seen a couple that I thought were real gorgeous. I haven't really been out to culbs yet. I went to one fancy bar but it seemed to be all older women. But I have been to a lot of beaches and the mall, and haven't seen much that has impressed me. All in all I would say it is just as good as or below average for most cities in Brazil. Deffinitely not better than Vitoria, or even Juiz De Fora in Minas.

Yeah in terms of women, it's definitely skewed by the numbers that pour into Floripa in high season.

In low season, like now, and you are just left with the locals, they are really nothing special.

I'm actually thinking I might have been a little harsh on the place considering I just came from where about half the girls you see are pretty. I wouldn't say the girls are lower quality than the average place. I have seen a few cutiies and this is a small little island. But then again so is Vitoria and cuties are everywhere. And I would also like to add, it is an awesome place. Just because the women aren't the best doesn't mean you shouldn't come. It's gourgeous. It reminds me a little of Hawaii because of the scenery and the vibe. Good place to surf too.

Not to mention the other night when I was trying to pick up a chick some Iranian guy came up to me and told me I couldn't be talking to his girls without his permission. I told my Brazilian friends I was with. One is a bad as Vin Deisel looking mofo. He went up and confronted the guy, and found out he was an Iranian gringo and didn't even speak Portuguese. The dude was like, "Oh no, I didn't know he was your friend, everything is cool man." Haha, fuckin puss. He must have had some type of power though because security was always watching over him.

Hey! I am thinking about going down to Florianopolis. It is going to cost me an extra $300 on top of my trip and I am just trying to decide if it really is a must see. It's a pain to get to Iguasso falls from there... where i have to go after.

Any advice here?

Also, when in Floripa, where is the best area to stay?? Where is the "party hotel?"

Also, I am trying to find good, popular, non touristy places.... any ideas?

if youve never seen a pretty beach, by all means go for it
if you have, it aint worth it
spend your time near the tri-border area by iguazu
the state of misiones, argentina, especially the city of posadas, argentina, has the most exotic/sluttiest girls in the country
paraguay is infamous for having easy girls, relatively to argentina atleast, and it is right on the border of the misiones state
santa catarina and parana states of brasil are right on the border of iguazu
if i were u, i would get off the beaten path and explore these places
thats what im doing starting christmas

Drew,

Thanks for the help. I have been fortunate enough to see beaches and islands all over the world. Brazil is my next stop. It is going to be a total pain in my ass to get down to Florianopolis BUTT, it would be worth it if it is that awesome.... i am not just talking hot girls as they are in every city. I am bringing my A game as well. I need to look on a map to figure out what you were talking about... those cities near Iguazo. I was planning on staying on the argentinian side. I am going to be down there around XXXmas as well so maybe we should chat about where we will be. Any more details around that area?? Feel free to shoot me an email as well.

The hottest girls in Floripa are upper class women flying in from Sao Paulo, and gauchas (girls from Rio Grande do Sul)...home to Gisele Bundchen. Gisele is from Horizontina, a small town in Rio Grade do Sul...might be worth a look actually although I've personally never been.

I spent 6 wks in Floripa around Carnival. Here is my scouting report:

The island is spread out. I stayed in Lagoa and I spent $30/nt on cabs when going to the clubs in the center of town. I also took the bus which is reasonably easy but it takes about 45 min. Traffic can be murderous. A car would help but that would add another expense.

It's split into 3 major zones - Lagoa - (hippie beach town), Centro (malls and businesses) and Jurere (high end clubs and beach)

There is a high end nightlife there - kinda snobby girls, some monstrous cover charges (100R), and absolutely no advantage to being a gringo. These rich girls have way more money than most traveling gringos.

There is also a surfer bar nightlife -mainly pubs with live music - you will get more love there but the quality drop is quite large. It is rather depressing to see runway model types at El Devino (club) and then have to hit up a dumpy surfer gal.

I did not think that the ratio of girls/guys was particularly good. Maybe 60/40 - more guys - and some bars were legitimate cock fests.

The town has a cool laid back vibe. It was a cross between San Diego and a Costa Rica beach town. The town is safe, probably safer than South Beach at night.

The talent is unbelievable. You have a lot of 8+ girls - probably the highest concentration of high end girls that I have seen. I think that the girls are better than in Rio b/c you get hotter European looking faces. The bodies are generally better in Rio.

Carnival in Floripa is not traditional - it is electronic music - big dj's - David Guetta, Van Burren etc

I think to game here you have to be aggressive - do a ton of approaches. Don't think that you're going to get warm eyes in Floripa inviting you to open from some of the hot girls. Not gonna happen.

The Brazilian guys in Floripa were really aggressive and they are good competition. You have Bzn guys with game and a little money so don't think you're gonna go in there and have a gringo advantage.

Long end short - yes there are beautiful girls but no - the high end talent are not particularly interested in gringos

Just spent ~10 days in Floripa.

Bkgrnd: Was first time in Brazil. Actually, was first time in South America. Just mentioning that as a disclaimer up front.

Had an unbelievable time down in Florianopolis. Women were phenomenal. Definitely a lot of blondes and "whiter" faces, which from what I hear were of a higher proportion than the north of Brazil. Bodies were damn unbelievable though!

Biggest problem with meeting girls was that ~50% probably didn't speak English well enough to game. Obv, my Portuguese was not strong enough past initial pleasantries. However, when at clubs once you made it up to the VIP section pretty much everyone up there spoke English.

When kicking game on the beach, there was almost always one girl in the group who would be able to speak English. Since I was there during high season, I got to meet a lot of Brazilians who had come to Floripa to spend their vacation. Nearly all the people I met were EXTREMELY helpful-- to the point where they were offering up guided tours of the island or taking me & my friends out to restaurants, etc. The people were just so damned genuine and friendly, it really made a great impression upon me during my first visit to this fantastic country.

OK, now on to some Floripa details which may help some ppl searching the forums. I think Leif & others did a nice job laying out some logistics and I hope to just add to what's been said.

Island is laid out in 3 zones: Lagoa (near the east), Centro (downtown area), Jurere (north).
There are tons of beaches on the island, but where most of the activity is concentrated is the following:
Praia Mole. (is near east side of Lagoa)
-this is a surfer's beach, with great breaks btw if you're into surfing. lots of hot bods, both women & men. plenty of hotties out sunbathing. couple of beach bars which are on the relatively expensive side (think 12-15 reals for a caipirinha). the bars also pump some electronic music from their speakers directly onto the beach, which also creates a party vibe on the sand.
-easy to meet girls chilling on the beach. you will likely also run into gringo backpackers from the nearby backpackers hostel.
-i rented a house right across the street from praia mole, which ended up being a great location
-next to P. Mole is P. Joaquina where you can do some sand boarding for 20Reals. Highly recc'd, was a lot of fun. Tiring though.
-down the road from P. Mole is Barra da Lagoa, which is a beach with smaller waves that is an excellent place to take some intro surf lessons. just show up, there are surf instruction huts lining the beach there.

Lagoa
-laid back bar/pub scene.
-was able to watch the vikings/saints NFC football championship gm at a pub while there
-was sad that the highlight of lagoa ended up being watching the NFC championship gm at pub ... lol i keed i keed
-honestly tho, the quality of women in lagoa was subpar compared to other parts of the island. plus the nightlife scene consisted of a lot of sitting down with your own group of friends at your own table and there didnt seem to be much mingling b/t groups going on. just my observations obv

Centro
-i only hit up centro to hit up el divino. el divino was quite divine. lots of hot women. LOTS.
-so in the regular areas, def lots of port-spkrs ... but once i made my way up to VIP its like Rosetta Stone had just been appointed head bouncer of the velvet ropes, and all you could hear was English
-def kicked a lot of game up in the VIP at el D and had a great time both times i partied at that club
-was expensive... i'm pretty sure that my cover plus bar tab was ~$200 each time i went. not reals, but dollars. (disclaimer.. i like to drink red bull fwiw)

Jurere
-called Jurere international for a reason. most out of town vacationers come to this calm beach up north to spend their summers in the "hamptons of brazil"
-very nice posh houses
-beach is very see & be seen
-lots of hotties
-cool beach club called Taiko
-Parador 12 is supposed to have ridiculous parties ... both times we went ... it was the exact opposite, but I think maybe we just had bad luck. First went to P12 on a sunday afternoon at like 6pm-ish and the place looked dead from the outside and the bouncer told us not to waste our 50 reals on the cover and come back on wednesday for the day party. Oh yea - P12 is known for its day parties ... kind of like Nikki Beach in Miami (when Nikki Beach was all glam & shtt) for those who are familiar. So went back to P12 the following Wednesday at ~3pm when it was supposed to get good and found the place to be infested with teeny boppers. Pretty much no one in the place was above the age of 17. Saw same bouncer, who told us again we just had bad luck. Everyone we met in Floripa would tell us about awesome parties at P12, but just wasn't in the cards for us.
-There is a Pacha up near Jurere.. also a club called Posh (possibly attached to Pacha??)
awesome awesome awesome. expensive. paid 80reals cover to get in thru VIP .. i think reg admission was 50 reals on a Sat nite. DJ was off the hook. Girls were smokin. Lots of Argentinian plus obv Braz girls dressed to the absolute 9s. Worst WORST system ever to buy drinks, which were relatively expensive. Think like 25-30 reals for a cocktail with mixer. I would try to explain to you the system in which they sell you drinks at the bar, but I think my head would fly off my body ghostbusters style if I had to re-live that experience. Nonetheless, had an absolute blast at Pacha.

Transportation
-rented a little manual car to get around. which was also an adventure, considering i don't drive manual trans cars and there were some steep as hell hills that needed to be driven thru.
-def recc renting a car. i never had to do it, but i can imagine taking public transport/taxis all the time would be a pain in the ass.
-just as an example, the drive from praia mole (where my house was) to jurere was at least 45 mins.

Misc
-i got access to a little rundown cell phone with a LOCAL NUMBER for the 10 or so days i was there. totally worth it. esp for getting numbers while on the beach or out at the bars/clubs. much easier for girls to call/text if you have some local digits.
-amazing seafood
-world-class DJ's ... i got to see Markus Schulz spin one night
-natural beauty everywhere on the island- not just on the beaches
-even though it seems like a large island with 40+ beaches etc etc... you will run into the same people when partying, b/c everyone in the know will party at all the same hot spots on each spot's hot nite

In Sum
Floripa is an awesome place to visit. The time to visit is during high season (After Xmas up thru Carnival).
It will be relatively more expensive than other parts of South America, as Floripa itself is a tourist destination for wealthy Brazilians/Argentinians.
You will see tons of lighter-skinned, blonde-haired bombshells draped in wisps of Gucci, Prada, Fendi and it may change your life!

I was going to Lagoa, now changed to Praia Mole.

Can you post the link for the apartment you rented? Also for the rent a car? Any place you could recommend for seafood? Thks
