If money didn't matter, how would you live?
05-22-2012, 05:40 PM
I am low maintenance and am not bothered by the prospect of living like a perpetual college student. So personally I would live in a studio apartment costing ~$350 a month in Uptown, drive a beat up car, and work as little as possible--maybe 5-15 hours a week if I had to, in a low-paying field that surrounded me with a lot of high school and college aged girls looking to make some cash outside their class schedules. I would wear t-shirts and shorts or jeans every day and focus mostly on poor artsy hipster girls since they aren't as materialistic.
The only reasons why I choose to put in long hours at a job I dislike, and nearly all work I dislike as I am naturally lazy, come down to:
1) I want to have kids at some point & want to be able to support a family
2) I try to leverage women's hypergamous instincts be seeking material displays
3) I want to be in a good financial position so that I can get a young overseas bride when I'm old and my looks have faded

Do you mean "If money didn't matter in terms of attracting women.."?
If that is the case, honestly I would probably be doing exactly what I am doing now. I love what I do to make money, and I love travel. While the girls are a HUGE benefit to travel, I like it for its own sake. Going to (formally) exotic countries, meeting and interacting with locals, seeing places most of my friends only see on National Geographic or the Travel channel. All of these things are what gets me up in the morning. Looking at it now, very few of my financial goals are directly tied to women, besides being able to afford to comfortably travel.
In terms of work, I love writing code and creating things with my mind. I love the challenge of it. I thought for a moment that I might not pursue my dream condo if it didn't help me with women, but then I realized that I don't give a shit whether chicks will dig my condo. I have had a dream to own a luxury condo in that area since I was 9 or 10 years old.
Its weird. Back when I was desperate for pussy, almost every decision that I made was from the perspective of "will this help me get laid". Now that I have abundant access to pussy, I just don't value it as much, and instead focus on my own desires for their own sake.
The only thing I can think of is that I wouldn't give a shit about what kind of car I drove. I wouldn't bother trying to work towards a Benz, and instead would get a nice minivan or large station-wagon (obviously, I am really not a car guy).

Nomadicallly.
If I woke up every day with $200 more in my bank account I'd just wander. I'd drive across the country and backpack through countries just to see what all is out there.

Thinking about doing this once I pay off all my debts and get situated. Backpacking all over Europe I mean. Would be fun as hell...

When I retire I hope to have an easy 25 years of dicking around on my bucket list.
Even then I don't want to work much.

I don't really understand the question, if money didn't matter in what sense? If I had so much money I didn't have to worry about it then I'd do what I'm doing now, just on a grander scale, and travel.

Tough question: money is just a medium by which you can exchange your own production for what is produced by others. It would be like asking: how would you live if productivity didn't matter?
Well... I'd be less productive.
edit: Bullshit aside. I'd work even harder at becoming a renaissance man. I'd spend 2 years in different countries, one after the other, until I had mastered seven languages fluently. I'd open a popular spot that would attract the young and fabulous and surround me with attractive fake-tittied women. I'd work on my charisma and communication until every thing I said and wrote would mean something valuable to those who read or listened. I'd spend one part of my day reading, another writing, a third recreating, and the rest sleeping (and fucking). I'd produce and script a masterpiece film.
Yeah... I've got a to-do list.
A year from now you'll wish you started today

If money didn't matter for getting laid I'd still try to earn as much money as possible. There are greater benefits to having money than getting laid.
If you're working to earn money solely for pussy then you are no better than a cubicle drone, a slave. I want money because its fucking awesome and arguably the most important thing on this planet. It runs everything. And I want it for myself, not to impress some dumb bitches.

Good point.
but the guy that you said "wasted life" is now living large with major bank. meanwhile the beach bum at age 40 doesn't have shit to his name and is by most standards a loser.
Hard work is an investment, especially if your smart with money. more-so if you build up your own business.
Partying is just that, having fun.
I guess it's all about balance, and everyone will tend towards one side of the spectrum depending on personal preference.
I personally place a greater importance on money than having fun. I value hard work. That's just how i was raised.

I´d probably get a sweet house on the Amafi coast. Also I´d spend all my time traveling and writing. Also, when traveling I think I´d just stick with my backpacker style. I think you miss out on something by staying at resorts and places like that.

About the same as I live now.
I'm a shut-in who enjoys goofing off on the Internet, reading books, watching/listening to educational lectures, and who goes into hibernation/not running any game mode for weeks at a time.
I don't really like travel, considering it a PITA.
I love living in a major city.
By living in a city, I can be a shut-in one month, and then run crazy game the next.
More money wouldn't change how I live my life (not rich, but my work sustains the lifestyle I desire), but not having people who rely on me would. It'd be a game changer.
If I didn't have career obligations, I would move more often. I'd bounce around from LA, SF, Vegas, Chicago, New York, Austin, Montreal, Costa Rica, with a few weeklong trips to Cabo and Cancun. (I hate long flights and have no desire to return to Europe.)

Pretty much like I do now, partying too much, which isn't exactly the best course of action in a world where money does matter. Fixing spending habits I've accrued through a life of parental safety net is a bit like quiting an addiction, it's tough.

I would have a few motorbikes stashed around the world. Or buy local bikes and wrench on them until adventure ready.
I would sail with the seasons, and pull the bikes out of storage and ride them around the back country. Explore the remote places on my list: The Caucuses, Pamir, Yunan, Mongolia.
I could do this alone, but the sailing part I would want a Swedish woman with me. Just the thought of her tall, toned and tanned body hoisting sails is enough for me.

Tough question to answer! If money didn't matter many things as we know them would be different so I would probably want different things. Maybe if pussy didn't matter, I would be a poet or still work just for the heck of it. I love being of "value" to society and making a difference in people's lives so I would probably be volunteering on different projects all over the World.
Right after I finish college, I went onto volunteering in the Bahamas! Not many hot women there (at least not single), but the beaches, the parades, and the relaxing atmosphere was just great! My "job" was to help out two star hotels upgrade their business sistems and in some cases teach them how to use them.
I didn't get any money for it, but got a bunch of free tours and made some great friends. I'm a horny guy, but for some reason that wasn't really didn't care much about there not being too many hot women (at least not at those hotels) and really enjoyed it all. If money didn't matter I would stuff similar to this the rest of my life. It was very fullfilling.

I am not thinking so much women, but lifestyle. I would swap in between Switzerland and Cost Rica. Then invest in properties.

I'd set up a smaller apartment in Hong Kong for from December to February. Spend 90 days each year on a tourist visa just enjoying the nice winter weather. Nothing crazy, but close enough to LKF. Cosy, but long term and carefully decorated.
Enough room for a small dinner party 9-12 guests. Preferably a hot tub.
Other similar apartments in Bangkok, Nairobi and Beijing.
I'd float between them through out the year.
Probably focus on a writing career. Not for the money, but just because I enjoy writing. Would love to see a book of mine or two in print.
I'm the King of Beijing!

I tend to think most men would wander around for awhile. I think most men secretly dream of traveling but once they get married and stuck in their job/rat race they just give up on the idea of geographic freedom. Bills, babies, bills.
So yeah. I'd wander around. Find the places I like, then bounce between them.
