You're right. I haven't been to Cali in about 3 or 4 years. I used to go there at least 5 or 6 times a year since I moved from Cali to Vegas when I was 7. Now I live in CO though, so it's been hard to get out that way. But I could imagine the nightlife not being as good in those areas. I might have been in Encinites during the weekday too, that may have been why it wasn't crowded.
The way I look at SD and LA is like this:
In LA, you'll find 9s and 10s. There are some really fine looking girls in LA, but there are also a LOT of 5s and 6s. There isn't too great of a middle ground in LA. Also, girls have mental issues.
In SD, 9s and 10s are rare. Instead, you have a steady supply of 8s, which to me is the best. Basically, in SD, if you like quantity, you can get with a lot of very bangable girls, and always have options for more.
And let's say you're coming down from SF or DC, those 8s look like fucking 12s, especially when you put them in a bikini and their nice round asses are popping out.

I don't believe you can rate girls in California. There are 10s EVERYWHERE, you just have to find them.
Now I may be a little biased since I live in Orange County, however the amount of beautiful women walking around LA/OC is pretty much mind boggling compared to SF or SD. Don't get me wrong, there plenty of stunners in those cities, but LA/OC has a higher percentage.
The problem with these chicks is that they are usually all money hungry or date dbag losers from high school. It's hard to get to know good looking girls here because most of the general population are creepers thus making it harder for normal guys to initiate something. You have to have a large social network and meet girls through friends. On the other hand, generally if you go to a club and get hammered, you're bound to hookup. Or, If you've got Plenty of Fish or online game, that works pretty well(this is all a friend of mine does).
I'm 25, and for me what works best are post-college parties. My brother went to school in SF. Whenever I go to LA or travel to SF, I always make sure I go out with people in college or post-college. WHY? Because they know how to have fun and let lose. Moreover, girls in college come from all over the state. They are young, cute, and go out in groups which means better ratios.
Whenever I went to SF and walked around the city and went to a club, I never saw that many good looking girls. As soon as I went around campus to house parties and local bars, the good looking women were plentiful.
If you're not into the college scene, fine. Instead of going to a pretentious, expensive, and hard to get in club in LA, go to a bar/lounge where it has a better crowd, with a friendly crowd.
If you wear affliction t-shirts on a daily basis, come to Orange County. If you want to floss and act like a baller, you'll do well here. Whether you're in Newport, Huntington, or Fullerton, there's plenty of girls waiting for you. lol.

I have better luck in SF than LA. I've hooked up at parties 2 out of the last 3 times I was up there. It's hard to go out at night in LA and hook up. It's just so damn pretentious down here. You have to have baller game to do well in the clubs in this town. You and your entourage cracking champagne at your vip table and shit. The girls up there are more down to earth and easy to talk to, and actually think it's cool if you ride a bike instead of drive a Range Rover. The downside is that they are not as hot as the girls down here. There are plenty of 6s and 7s, but you won't find many 8s and 9s. 10s in SF are practically non-existent.
Don't even get me started on Orange County.
Fuck OC. I'm living in OC now and I despise this place with a passion. I was up in LA over the weekend and I realized what I missed about it. I was sitting drinking a little coffee at my favorite spot on a Sunday and model/actress after model/actress came through nonstop.
OC bitches think they are blessing this earth with their miserable existence. Fuck dem bitchez. And overall, besides a few parts, OC is one the most low class places in SoCal. Just my two cents. I lived in Cali for about four years and had tons of success. Mostly with day game. So cal girls are world class (lots of 9s,10s), and gaming (esp. at night) can be challenging.
My experience was that, if you re cool with 8s and 9s...it s a paradise. 8s have great attitudes (esp. during the day) because they know you`ll just go to a better good looking girl (a 9 or 10) with a better attitude.
Cali is a cruel place for alotta good looking girls. The best of the best are there to make it. Hot girls are everyone, but many are working lame jobs and don`t compare to the 10s every guy is after.

Other than SD, LA/OC, and the Bay area, would anyone say there are any must sees in the SD-SF range? I'm going out to California for three weeks soon with some friends and want to get in as much as possible. Reading through the previous posts have given me some initial thoughts. We're 22-23, though not the "bro" type - wouldn't mind avoiding that scene while not dropping huge amounts. Any suggestions would be great.

Hang out in Santa Barbara. Best Beach town in California. Monterrey/Santa Cruz is cool too but the water is freezing up there.
LA is a must-see. It's a huge county full of cities, not just Los Angeles proper. I advise visiting or living here and checking out as many places as possible, including Long Beach, Venice, Santa Monica, Silver Lake. This is one of the best cities for quality and quantity of young women that are interested in a casual sexual relationship. It is very easy to meet them, because the people are all out walking around on the street, going shopping, enjoying the weather, the beach, the gym, working out at the park. It's like a playground for adults.

Tagging along with this little scene set up the potential for some invitations to a few private parties and events, and made me more aware of the shows going on, where I was able to perform approaches, including a few gratifying lays.
I was once driving around in some girl's car who had lent it to me and I stopped at a grocery store in one of these sunny beach cities, hit on a young woman, a solid 8, in the grocery store. Found a great connection and laid her that night. They're all around, since its a dense, metropolitan area.
