What are your favorite sites for interesting articles?

I'm talking more about long, analytic articles for good evening reading.

Social media is a common source for articles, but I also like...

Rolling Stone:
Scroll down to the Top Features section. It has some of the best magazine writing out there today.
http://www.rollingstone.com/politics

GQ:
I browse through their "Most Popular" section on the right. Sometimes a little fluffy but usually high quality.
http://www.gq.com/?us_site=y

Reddit "Food For Thought" subreddit:
I consider this the best subreddit on the site. Lots of great articles from a wide variety of sources.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Foodforthought/

NY Magazine:
Good for keeping on tabs with the culture.
http://nymag.com/news/?f=news

New York Times Magazine:
Articles can be a little frou-frou and overly targeted to women, but has the occasional good article.
http://www.nytimes.com/pages/magazine/index.html

Whenever I catch something interesting I use the Readability extension for one click sending to my Kindle.

Any others?

Instapaper has a nice overview of its most popular articles along with editors' picks from different outlets. Before traveling I often go on there and add a bunch of stuff to my read later to read on my phone.

If you have an account you'll find it here: http://www.instapaper.com/browse

The Economist

Barking up the wrong tree Read this for a while (and go through all the related pages on the bottom of each post, especially on sex related ones) and your mind will be blown, I guarantee you. I think it's actually changed how I see the world, making me look through an objective scientific lens. The knowledge gained allows you to life hack.

Arts and Letters Daily: http://www.aldaily.com/

Articles from a wide variety of sources, always high quality, though sometimes with a fair amount of the hoit and the toit.

Wired: http://www.wired.com

Always well written, varied array of articles. Their blogs "Threat Level" and "Danger Room" are especially good.

The Claremont Review of Books: http://www.claremont.org/publications/crb/

The articles in each issue become available one by one as the quarter progresses, so you have to wait. However, this is strictly for libertarians and conservatives (unless you're looking for something to disagree with). But if that's your thing, it's some of the best writing out there. The only publication I subscribed to in print.

The Atlantic's In Focus site: http://www.theatlantic.com/infocus/

Not articles, but rather photography sets. Updated every several days, very high quality, professional. Some fascinating pictures can be seen here. One of the sets from the war in Libya had a pic of a guy jamming on an acoustic guitar while a bunch of rebels were fighting in front of him . I couldn't decide who was more alpha.

This is actually a one hour radio program with deep discussion of topical issues. You can download podcast or listening to a stream from the site. It's truly "fair and balanced" and the host always gives fair time to opposing sides and stays neutral. No yelling or screaming will be found here. The show keeps me up to date with what's going on in the world if I don't feel like reading.

Web of Debt:
This site is structured around the book ‘The Web of Debt’ I reviewed some weeks ago in the forum. If you want to understand the current financial mess, and the simple and easy solutions to be implemented worldwide to get out of it, then you should read the biweekly articles posted by the author in this section:
http://www.webofdebt.com/articles/

The Executive Intelligence Review and LarouchePAC:
Huge amounts of information on economics, politics, international affairs, etc. Yes, I know it’s Lyndon Larouche, so what? Is someone other than him making any sense these days?
http://www.larouchepub.com/
http://larouchepac.com/

Réseau Voltaire:
Geopolitics.

William Engdahl:
Oil geopolitics.

What Does It Mean?
Yes, I know there are many theories and stories about who Sorcha Faal is. Yes, I know that her reports, which are supposed to be assembled from leaked Russian military intelligence documents, while convincing, have many non proved sides. However, take the time to, at least once a week, scroll down the ‘World News Now’ and the ‘Insight Into Today’s News’ sections. They both contain a selection of the most interesting articles from countless sources.
http://whatdoesitmean.com/
If you have never read one of Sorcha Faal’s reports, check these two out in order to understand what I am talking about:

Yeah BYLINER. Basically it aggregates all of the best long form articles from most of the sources people have mentioned. It's awesome, kind of a best of the best.

http://byliner.com/

Even better, they aggregate by author. So if someone did a sweet NYT magazine article, you can find other articles by the same guy. Saves a ton of time and all the content is extremely high quality.

I love New York Times in general, even though some of the gender articles might be feminist-biased (but what media isn't today?) and myopic in the classic sense of not understanding the sexual market, it's still lots and lots of fine writing in general. I particularly enjoy Paul Krugman and Nicolas Kristof (Kristof writes almost exclusively about women's issues, but real women's issues like rape and HIV in Africa, microcredits or education in poor countries and etc. and not the drivel about modern western women).
I used to be a subscriber too for a year before I ran out of money temporarily and had my account suspended, then I discovered a trick to keep reading without being a subscriber anyway [Image: biggrin.gif] [Image: biggrin.gif]

Of the other things that I read daily but am not subscribed to, probably The Economist (also fine writing and little more technical than NYT), Cracked.com (they might have started turning to shit recently, but there's still plenty of good coverage in other fields), Roissy (Heartiste) and Roosh forum ofc. I used to read Yahoo for a while but I've quit recently, I find their quality very sensationalistic and poorly written like most Croatian newspapers and news portals.

After reading this thread, I'll definitely take a look at The Rolling Stone.

I read a lot of what's already been listed, like Harper's, Atlantic, Slate, New York(fav), Bloomberg. I generally stick to reading hard copies of the Times and Journal when I'm at a Starbucks or 7-11.

I'm in Chicago and like Chicago Crain's Real Estate section particularly.

Some others that haven't been mentioned are a recent discovery called Port Magazine, on fashion and design geared towards men.

I'm not really up on scientific things but at times I'll check out Science Daily.

McSweeney's I like for its interesting and creative articles.

I am an avid reader of instapundit.com, Glenn Reynolds site that is a linkfest.

In fact, Roosh, I would have never found your site without it. Glenn links to Roissy, and through Roissy I found you.

So though all of YOUR sites are left leaning, I got here because of a right leaning, libertarian sensibility.

I know this isn't about the entire website, but I just read this incredible article about psychopathy in NYT magazine and wanted to share it but it's not that important to deserve its own thread. The article, about physiological and psychological research into the nature of psychopathy (based on following children dubbed 'Callous-Unemotional Children' from age 3 onwards, and their case studies) is chilling and deeply disturbing. It suggests that up to 80% of psychopathic tendencies might be not only hereditary, but also immutable.

What are your favorite sites for interesting articles?

My personal favorites:

Arts & Letters Daily
http://www.aldaily.com/
An amazing site in which two editors everyday choose 4 texts from the Anglosphere newspapers, magazines and sites. The texts are divided in 4 categories: "Articles of Note", "New Books", "Essays and Opinion", and "Nota Bene". The choices have are usually of a taste for original and insightful thoughts and good writing style. A must.

The Economist
http://www.economist.com/
Doubtlessly the best magazine in the world. Mistaken by the name, many people think that it is an economical magazine, but I'd say economy makes just about 10% of the content. It has a very strict Style Guide, so readers can get some of the finest English in Media, with all the subjects being carefully reflected pondering all the sides. It also covers almost any part of the world. Every year the Christmas Special Edition has some of best articles someone can read. There's a limit on the weekly number of articles that non-subscribers can read online, but there are also lots of content on the online version, with a great variety of blogs: http://www.economist.com/blogs

The New York Review of Books
http://www.nybooks.com/
Excellent magazine! Great writers, historians and essayists write there. Unfortunately some of the content of their print edition is only available for subscribers but they also have a good blog section.

Life & Arts (Financial Times)
http://www.ft.com/intl/life-arts
Financial Times' weekly cultural supplement. Often interesting book reviews and nice articles.

Intelligent Life
http://moreintelligentlife.com/
Bi-monthly cultural magazine of The Economist.

The New Yorker
http://www.newyorker.com/
Sure they represent a snob american intelligentsia, but often they have fine journalism and even better criticism. Some of greatest journalists and writers of the past century wrote there. They still have nice contributors like Adam Gopnik, Malcom Gladwell, David Grann and also two astonishing critics: Anthony Lane (cinema) and James Wood (books).

Theodore Dalrymple
http://www.newenglishreview.org/blog_cat.../cat_id/13
The link aggregates texts by Theodore Dalrymple, a columnist who is a retired prison doctor and psychiatrist and writes to british and american newspapers and magazines. He writes a lot concerning on the ruining of western societies and culture. I'm sure Roosh will like the man.[Image: wink.gif]

Omnivore (Bookforum)
http://bookforum.com/blog/
A blog that every day suggest interesting texts.

Longform
http://longform.org/
Their description: "new and classic non-fiction articles, curated from across the web, that are too long and too interesting to be read on a web browser. Articles can be read on the web, in Longform’s own iPad app, or use buttons to one-click send them to Kindle, Readability, Pocket/Read It Later, and Instapaper."

Longreads
http://longreads.com/
Very similar to Longform.

The Essayist
http://essayist.tumblr.com/
Like the two previous websites.

Byliner
http://byliner.com/
Also like the previous 3, but with a bigger archive and more focused on the authors.

ZeroHedge
http://www.zerohedge.com/
Probably the best website on economic issues nowadays. The contributors are anonymous but we easily understand they are people with good knowledge, enlightening toughts and independent views.

This is exactly what happened to me. Instapundit has been my homepage since either 2000 or 2001. I found out about Roissy through a link on his site and found Roosh through Roissy.
