I've done about two years of salsa - pretty hardcore, before I figured out that salsa girls are generally pedantic/mediocre pussy/etc. as Samseau observed in his hall of fame post about dance club game. So, I've got good moves, body isolation and am completely confident in my ability to strongly lead a woman in a dance even if she's not a very good dancer; and besides all that, I'm a great dancer by myself.

So. That being said, one of the things that's seemed to help me when approaching girls in dance clubs is wearing sunglasses. It seems to help me act as though I'm paying less attention to a girl.

Let's discuss this issue and figure out what's going on here. Why would this be or be not beneficial? Is it a crutch that I'm just deriving false confidence from? Is it better or worse to have a girl see your eyes in a dark club? And so on.

Have any of you experienced this?

No first hand experience, but I would assume that for one it sets you apart from everyone else in the club. Who wears sunglasses in the club? And two, makes you a bit mysterious. Who is this guy who dances like a pro, and wears sunglasses at night? Maybe he's famous!?!?!? Or some dumb chick shit like that lol.

Sunglasses might work for some guys, might not work for others. I personally need to see what I'm doing so I can't see myself wearing my sunglasses.


Sunglasses are also against the dress code for many clubs, so it may not be an option.


Either way, I can't imagine this making more than a marginal impact on your results. If anything, the sunglasses might be giving you some kind of boost in confidence, which in turn makes your approaches more successful.

That might be the case. I hadn't thought it through completely and I wanted to field some opinions on it. I don't hit clubs too often (although your guide inspired me to get back out and get to it) and I didn't want to give the glasses too much importance if they didn't beg it.

One thought was that it prevents me from making direct eye contact with girls until I'm ready to, in which case I can remove the glasses. I think I might be giving away interest tells with my eyes and the glasses help curtail that. I can see well enough in a dark club with glasses on to get around, and I'm willing to take a flier that a girl might be a little busted up or chubby since I can always just bounce from her to another girl if I get close and don't like the goods.

For the record, I tend to frequent either straight-friendly gay clubs (there's an enormous population of frisky straight girls at one local one, for instance) and goth clubs, which are generally rather amenable to sunglasses in general. So perhaps my demographics are a little skewed positively toward glasses. I don't know how I'd handle a normal dance club just yet since I haven't been to one in forever.

I know it was mentioned multiple times in the HoF thread, but your post was an excellent ground-level, back-to-basics primer for this sort of pickup and I'm glad I was able to read your work. It motivated me back out to the floor and away from the salsa dance scene I'd been wasting time in, and explained some things that were fuzzy for me.

I've never done dance club game in the middle of the week, because there aren't any places here for that sort of thing. To be honest, most of my dance pickups have been done in party-heavy atmospheres that the weekend brings out.

But then again, I don't live in NYC or LA. I'm sure a big city has plenty of options that I'm unaware of.

Finding a good dance venue is almost as hard as doing the pickup itself. The dance club I frequent isn't even listed on Google maps until you zoom in all the way! And this is the dance club that got me over 10 lays last year. It's popular as fuck, and yet it's not listed on Google maps unless it's maximum zoom.

Finding a good dance club is a challenge, no matter where you go. If I were you, I'd be performing reconnaissance every night combing through clubs in the area. Ask other guys out on the town for good spots too, that can save time.
