I have noticed in many of the Filipinas in photos (tagged, cherryblossoms, facebook, or wherever) that so many of them flash the "two-finger" peace sign. In a dozen photo selection, there is bound to be one. Now, I have never been to the Philippines, so forgive my ignorance, but does this "peace sign" gesture mean the same in the Philippines? What's the cultural significance, if not?
Filipinas flashing the peace sign?
Girls do it all of the time in Thailand as well. I have never asked, but I don't think there as any significance behind it. They just think it makes them look cute, as far as I know.
Here's the Tagalog/Thai translation:
You mean Asian Pose #1? It's common across all East and Southeast Asia. It doesn't really mean anything there anymore, just a way to pose for pictures. More common Asian girl poses here.
I can't have sex with your personality, and I can't put my penis in your college degree, and I can't shove my fist in your childhood dreams, so why are you sharing all this information with me?
Maybe it's from the hip hop culture in the states. Wanna be "cool" by doing that.
Yeah they do it everywhere in Asia, I asked a few girls why they did it and they said they didn't know. They didn't even know it was the peace sign. Whenever an Asian girl asks to take a photo of me now I sarcastically do a silly face and wrong way round peace sign.
