Californication

It's baaaaaaackkkkkkkkk........

Like said above, the first two seasons were good. Lew Ashby is someone to model yourself on. Short of ODing of course....

7th and last season is running now. Watched the first four episodes on Showtime's online dealio and while it is still fucked up like the last few seasons they are making some statements.

Turns out Moody has a kid, a boy, from a relationship before Karen that he didn't know about. The kid is a fucked up example of a boy raised by a single mother and Moody actually says as much. I repeat, Moody says he is fucked up due to being raised by a single mother. I don't know where else you'll find such a statement on TV today.

Other than that, I'm not really feeling it but will watch it out til the end. Has it's moments but nothing like the first two seasons.

btw-Michael Imperiolli (sp?) is in it this season as director of a shitty TV show Moody is writing for.

I'm confused as to why they brought in this whole new side to the story in for the last season. I'm curious to see how it ends now.

And in this season there is a tranny of some sort who is actually mocked.

Dr Johnson rumbles with the RawGod. And lives to regret it.

Somehow I forgot about that but yeah, Hank does some shaming there. Isn't sure if he should address it as he or she. Moody is definitely old school.

Where the fuck they found that freakshow I don't want to know. lolzzzzz

The show actually has an excellent stance towards "shitlibs" and feminist types, etc.

The writing in this season has been pretty shitty though. There are still funny moments, and Hank is great, but it all seems heavy handed, and is not as funny.

The quality drop is not quite as bad as it was in Dexter and definitely not as bad as HIMYM [yes I know, super pussy show, but it used to be funny].

But watching it on a Sunday night, after I've seen two of the best TV episodes in memory - of Game of Thrones, and Mad Men [how good was that latest episode!], the lower quality is very evident.

Yeah. Just remembered that Imperiolli shamed the fuck out of the guy Instagramming his gourmet hamburger. Definitely taking some shots at today's fucked up societal norms.

MM started off the season kinda slow, but then the show is known for being a bit slow, however the last episode was pretty good. As big a deal it is that Draper is back, just as big in my opinion was Sterling throwing down finally. Should be interesting.

Californication swings between some of the most alpha shit you've ever seen on TV and weakly written beta bullshit.

You can tell which episodes are written by the shows creator and which are staff writers who go "and then boobs! in his face! for NO REASON or actual game! wooo1, dis show awesome! but also he respects women and shit. cause dats what good men do. also he's in love with his wife."

Then a different writer does an episode it's a totally different show.

I don't see anything remootely alpha about this show whatsoever. It's like ''what would happen if we lived in the perfect beta universe and the laws of physics were replaced by principles that betas live by''. I admit, the guy has this cool laid-back attitude, money, looks and somewhat game, but the shit that's happening in his daily life, like going to the market and have an 8 aggressively approach him, this just doesnt happen. I've seen the first 2 seasons and got bored of the beta mentality of the show.

Besides the occasional 'white knighting' by Hank, he's an excellent character to learn from.

Subtle cockiness, natural charm (which all of us have to some extent, work on it), but most of all, aloofness.

He is at all times trying to amuse himself, and invites the girls around him he likes to join him.

Notice the times he walks into a room, finds a chair or couch and lounges on it as if he's the only person in the room. Notice the amount of stupid shit he says for his own amusement (remember that one season with the short haired english teacher, where he was getting counselled by stacy for the gay kid who overdosed and how he was high, 'you have beautiful blue eyes').

They overdid it. New son/baby momma out of the blue in the last season?? It got too heavy too late. I predict a big chaos magically turning into a cheesy happy ending.

There was a large dropoff in quality after the fourth season.

Anybody see the new episode? I got a few good laughs out of it. Although, I am starting to think the show would have been been if Hank had a son instead of Becca from the beginning.

Okay I wrote this show off after the second season because i thought it just became a routinized beta pedestalization of his "wife" and daughter. I didn't even watch last season because none of the chicks were hot and there was some weird rock freak plot.

But this season. Holy shit. Hilarious. His annoying and socially retarded son + wall survivor heather graham (god she is hot, and i don't even like white chicks) + the un PC producer + the shit show office + trolling militant feminists with that transexual lady. The only weak plot this season is charlie's ED. I liked charlie better when he was on a quest to for 100 women.

Finished watching this show on Netflix and have to say that I love Hank Moody. He has that aloofness that is worth emulating. On top of that, the show has some pretty funny moments especially Charlie Runkles shenanigans.

My confidence is so high that I should probably trademark it

I just rewatched all seasons a couple of months ago. Hank Moody remains one of my favourite TV characters and big game inspirations - even if he is pining for his ex and the family life throughout the entire show, and rather more of a screw-up (excessive alcohol and drug use at various points) than I ever aspired to be.

I'm watching Californication for the first time. The level of talent is this show is impressive.

This is Camilla Luddington, who plays Charlie's nanny Lizzie.

While the show had its golden moments that delivered sheer alpha segments, yeah, it was peppered with beta bullshit. Overall, I think it is worth watching for all guys.

While some episodes were absurd, it generally gets into how random, amazing and awful life can be. Sometimes the world shits on you. Sometimes, you're living the dream. And sometimes situations get bizarre. What I took away from Hank's character, that no matter what, it's better to play aloof and laid back.

I just got of a pretty serious LTR, and it fucked me up a bit, I felt out of my element, a little lost, lost my drive. I binged out all 7 seasons in give or take three weeks. That show seriously got me back up on my feet. I plan on rewatching it again here and there, now just to pick up that vibe. It's how I used to be. Now it's all falling back into place.

Plus I'm a big heavy metal fan and like classic rock, so I was definitely digging all the Easter eggs throughout.

And to answer Swell's question here's my favorite broads on the show.
1) Faith
2) Sasha
3) Lizzie
4) Mia
5) Jackie (stripper/student)
6) Surfer girl
7) Jill (t/a)

Well said Snowplow.
I'm not the best with names, but I never forget a set of titties.
I'm curious about your list. I going to finish watching remaining episodes then do some research.

Nirvana was my favourite band for a long time. Was that Kurt's guitar? The guitar looked familiar. If not the prop guy did an excellent job.

I don't care for Nirvana, so I wouldn't know if it was his actual guitar or not. But, nonetheless if it is, that's pretty cool. Some of the Easter eggs throughout were, guest appearances by Zakk Wylde, Tommy Lee, Marilyn Manson and Rick Springfield. Some other things sprinkled in: most of his books are names of Slayer albums, and there is even a book reference called Crack the Skye which is a Mastodon album. Lot of Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society gear can be seen in the series.

Okay. To each his own. But...
Nirvana heaviest is album is BLEACH. Did you enjoy that one at least?

I have been rockin' to SLAYER in the gym. Didn't pick up the book titles references. Nice work.

But I can't stand to look at her gimpy mouth.
I will post a pic of her assets soon, because they really are awesome.

Addison Timlin plays the actress in season 4.
I must say, you really have great taste in titties.
