EasyJet Tips

I just got back from a quick trip where I flew three EasyJet flights. This was my first time using the airline but since it is popular in Europe I thought I would drop some intel.

1. There is no assigned seating. You get to the gate and line up. When its time for boarding the door opens and you go to the plane to grab a seat. This is no big deal if you are traveling alone, but if you are with someone it might make sense to pay the extra money for priority boarding.

It took until my last flight to figure out how to make this work in my favour. I made sure to hang back at the gate and check out the talent. Make some eye contact and as the que serpentines try and make some small talk to any girls but especially single travelers.

When the gate opens keep an eye on where your target goes. Front of the plane or the back. Most people are not single travelers and everyone hates the middle seat. So single travelers usually grab a window and this makes it easy for a me to swoop the aisle seat. Unless the plane is full, there will be a seat between me and my target. Make small talk as I sit down, so if someone tries to sit the middle seat, I would just move over. Never happened though.

When drinks come around, offer her to join me on a drink. I used the "bottle of wine to celebrate a great trip" on my target. I also use this as the opportunity to move into the middle seat as I receive the wine from the hostess. From there the tingles of airplane game set in and its mine to lose.

Arrival.
This is where logistics are important (but with airports the logistics always suck). The romantic buzz of drinking prosecco with an interesting stranger on an airplane generally fades out at the metro. Its hard to maintain the close intimacy at this point, and I almost lost her a couple times when I see her start thinking too much. As I was going into Copenhagen with her rather than Malmo to my place I was essentially following her. All I did is make it easy for her to find her hotel and we went up to her room for a pre dinner scotch but never made it out for dinner.

2. I thought they would be strict about bags (there is a large print that states only ONE carry on bag per person including purses and laptops) but I seen a couple people get by with a carry on suitcase and a suit bag. Also women with purses seemed to be OK but you risk having to check your bag at the gate if they decide that you have too much (€60 a bag).

3. The EasyJet terminals seem to be out of the main part of the airports so give yourself plenty of walking time from the lounge to the gate.

*EDIT*

I just re read this and thought I would clarify some things.

You actually walk across the tarmac to the stairs into the plane that are open at the front and rear exits of the plane.

At two of the airports I was at, we had to take a bus to the plane (Malpensa Milan, Marco Polo Venice). This means that you might be even further from the gate than you think. I usually post up in the lounge before flights, until the last minute but be careful with EasyJet. Scope out the "holding area" so you know, if you decide to hit the lounge.
