my mom and my ex's mom live in st pete. i'm down there a lot. i'm down with this idea and have the cash to invest.

I also understand mike's view that this is not necessarily a real 'investment' per se, in that it has other advantages.

however, If I am going to put $2k into something, I want to know that there is a legitimate chance this hobby could last more than a month or two or six.

Is anyone really willing to take a crack at a pro forma / basic basic basic biz plan?

I too always planned to be in the bar business one day. Right now I own a commercial building that has as a tenant the hottest place in the neighborhood, even featured in the NY Times. That lease expires in 9 years. Thats when I thought I'd get in. but this sounds appealing to me and I like the size of the investment.

So, who is going to put up the time/energy/sweat equity to actually put something on paper?

Also add in the fact that there's alot of mid-westerners here with unrefined pallets. So some places do good just because the portion sizes are huge regardless of food quality. It's a dance.

Depends on who you target. My original plan was to have no food and fuck girls in Bikinis. Profits aside.

There was a pizza chain in Central Cali called pelican pizza I'm not sure if it's still there. The pizza sucked but it was buy one get one free. They were busy.

This place is simple yet complex. What may work in Clearwater will not work in the next town of Dunedin. Why? More upscale with a Euro vibe. The food there is the best around. Some areas here are rednecked the fuck out. Cheap beer and shitty greasy food works. Two miles away Gourmet vegetarian Mexican food with Patron -Ritas.

I posted a pic of a pizza place on Craigslist. That place would work with a cheap but good simple menu with cheap drink specials. Bullet proof fast delivery would be a must for the lazy rednecks and all the people with no drivers licences around. Also factor in when disability checks are issued. The third of the month. That area thrives for a week and a half after that.

You just have to know. I've been here 18 years and my family 100 years which is a long time for Florida. We know. Mr. Deeppockets GM retired at 55 who comes to open a place does not.

Well if we can gather enough interest I would put more effort into it. The deciding factors would be how many people and having funds on tap to pull the trigger. Good deals require fast actions.

I don't see a longevity problem. Lets say it loses 1k in August. That would mean 50 bucks each to keep the ball rolling @ 20 partners.

We all have real jobs so who cares.
