mixx, your math is screwy.

base rate plus calories burned by exercise = your maintenance rate of caloric consumption. anything else is caloric deficit.

caloric deficits of any kind are necessarily catabolic.

you dont simply get to chose that your caloric deficit is solely made of up fat loss.

according to your math you are losing over a pound a day of pure fat.

as someone who is already at 10% BF, that is clearly impossible.

I also think you're wildly over estimating your caloric burn.


(i have both lost 60 lbs and gained 60 lbs on purpose so I have some idea of what i am talking about here)

That is correct. That is exactly what I am aiming for. 1lb of fat per day.

Now, how can I be sure that I am losing 1lb of fat per day? simple, my waistline is reduced by about 1/4 inch EVERY DAY.

here is more info as this is the baseline I used to post my numbers. My results vary daily, but this is mostly where I fit. However, I dont walk for 7hrs like the author of this article is demonstrating, I use my own methods that accomplish the same principles with intensity training, and walking with a 60lb (30kg) weight vest for an addtional 1.5 hrs. My total daily exercise time 3hrs.

you'd lose 30 lbs (not necessarily fat all fat, and in fact, impossible given the stated BF%)

First, I do not call it a "diet", a diet to me is sitting on your ass, and cutting calories, boy you have no idea how Insane I train daily!

I don't have a set time to be on it. I started this cycle January 26th, I've lost about 3" from my waistline ( I was 36") since the 24th until now, though I must admit. I cheated 2x [Image: sad.gif]


I'll keep this up until I reach my goal of 31" waist @190lbs maybe another 20 +/- days.

After that cycle i complete, I SLOOOWWWLY start adding more calories to my diet until I reach 2300Kc per day of food intake.

lets look at it another way

you say 203 lbs 10% BF

that means, 20.3 lbs of body fat.

according to your math you'd be at 0% body fat in 20.3 days.



listen dude, you are clearly a valued forum member. i've read a lot of your posts, you are very very helpful. and the minneapolis/fargo stuff was really memorable.

but in this case i'm concerned that another brother was looking for advice on presumably sustainable dietary applications and what you're talking about appears to not only be unsustainable but not entirely accurate.

just trying to work this out

I was not posting this as my advice for the OP, I already gave that advice on post no. 2. I was asked what MY TRAINING cycle is like, and I posted it. Process it whichever way you must, I'm not pushing anyone else to do it, as a matter of fact, I strongly encourage EVERYONE HERE TO NOT DO WHAT I AM DOING!

I already gave you a link as to where I am getting this training guide from, well, the basis of it anyway.

I posted it for informational purposes, not as advice.

** I am under medical, personal trainer, and nutrionist supervision daily as I do this cycle. This is not for novice or occasional dieters like the OP, this shit is hardcore.

This is interesting as I had serious problems after eating like a horse for a few months to try and build some muscle I put on loads of fat (got my squats up to 3x10 @ 140kgs though)tried 10 gramms of carbs a day with loads of protein and basically felt like I had a complete CNS collapse after 2-3 weeks of it I could not even squat 80 kgs and had to have 2 weeks of the gym to recover and started to slowly build the weight up again, I swore never to try low carbs again but I may research the b-12 thing.

Have you ever been tested to find out your BMR (base metabolic rate) and/or VO2 Max?

Those kinds of information can be really useful in determining the best way to meet your fitness goals.

When I had my BMR checked I found out I was eating too few calories and my body was going into fat storage mode, so i was losing weight at first, but the weight I was losing was muscle. The lost muscle in turn lowered my metabolism, which in turn made it harder to continue to lose weight.

I would find a place to get those type of tests done (and maybe also get some micronutrient testing too) and then talk their professionals about the results and how they apply to your goals.

does anyone ever get really hot (feels like fever hot) and piss like a motherfucker on low carb diets? ive been eating <75 g of carbs for the past few days and a few hours after I eat I get super hot. I also am peeing like 2 times as much as I normally do

carbs hold water ( i think its 1g of glycogen attaches to 2.7g water),so the higher your carb intake,the more likely the more water you will retain.

so when you start to ingest less carbs,your body will hold onto less water = why your pissing more.fats and protein dont hold onto water (or not half as much).

im not sure of the super hot feeling your getting,maybe its because your pissing more? = the fluids in your body arnt keeping your temperature down possibly.

or it could simply be the thermogenic effect of your metabolism.

Carbs don't require much energy to be broken down. Protein and Fat require a HUGE deal of energy from your body to break them down.

You are stimulating your metabolism by going on your low carb diet which does increase body temperature

but what about thermics? protein has the highest TEF of the 3 macronutrients,then carbs,then fats
