I did the tour and train course at the IKMF in the winter and it was a great time. Two months training in Israel and you might become a certified Krav Maga instructor and you will learn to kick serious ass.

This is where I went:

This is the course I did:

I don't know if going to Israel in the Brink of a war with Iran is a good idea, but the advice is good anyway ,I always wanted to practice Krav Maga, there is a big school in a jewish neighborhood near from where I live.
Hot Israelis are definetely a plus. I think a latin guy can do some damage there.

Chicks need to be on rotation like a Netflix queue

Didn't consider the situation brewing with Iran, but if you go to Israel you may even get a chance to come up against the ultimate cockblocker.

But you could also do the course in another country.

Actually.... Holy shit take a look at this schedule!

BTW: Tamir and Amnon are both excellent instructors and the course will be conducted in English.

Hungary 29/06/2012 08/07/2012 Civil Instructor Course Part 1 Hungary June 2012 The first part of this course will take place in Hungary and will be conducted by GIT Israel Tamir. Following two parts will be conducted in Poland and the Czech republic.
Poland 27/07/2012 05/08/2012 Civil Instructor Course Part 2 Poland July 2012 The second part of this course will take place in Poland and will be conducted by GIT Amnon Darsa.
Czech 12/08/2012 16/08/2012 Civil Instructor Course Part 3 Czech August 2012 The third part of this course will take place in The Czech Republic and will be conducted by GIT Israel Tamir.

That Krav Maga idea is money. Bookmarked.

Going to train BJJ in Brazil or Muay Thai in Thailand would be dope.

I'm ready to go, I've wanted to Krav Maga in DC, but it was $260/month. This looks like a better deal especially if you can become a certified instructor.

Where do you get the details?

Any Ideas ?
Have you considered making a training course yourself and teaching it while traveling?

If you're a techie you can go to the Big Nerd Ranch (US) for iphone programming http://www.bignerdranch.com/classes/begi...phone-ipad

Course is $5000 but it includes accomodations. It is known as the best boot camp to become an IOS developer and earn six-figure salaries.

You can also be certified in NLP http://www.nlp.com (US)

If you're really a techie, you won't pay that $5000 bucks to learn iPhone programming. Geez.

VALUE for future - Get some training in SAP. Good $$$ given your work experience & location.

Wooah... learning SAP beyond end user functions is a pretty tough assignment. SAP mainly makes their money from hiring out developers and consultants using their system because it's so god-damn impossible to develop and adapt.

Wont be if you get into the Business Functional (non technical) side of it that relates to your CRM/Mktg experience. You can learn it and make big $$. You dont need to learn to code / develop.

Do you know where I can find SAP courses like this? It isn't very expensive?

Google: SAP Training Functional. The training can be cheap or expensive. A lot of those "troll picture" beta indian dudes learn stuff REAL CHEAP in India.. and a lot of Indian training companies operating in the US.

Search online, see what you find and if some specific functional areas of training seem to appeal to you I may be able to help you short list.

There is more info here:

I can tell you that by speaking with the certified instructors I met in Israel that you will need to be in good shape before you go. It's 180 hours of instruction over 24 days (7.5 hours per day) and very tiring.

Email the IKMF in Israel to find out pricing. Bonus is the EE courses are usually cheaper.

How do you know Tamir and Amnon?

They were my instructors when I attended the 10 day Tour and Train course in Israel in the winter of 2007. I'll never forget a saying of Amnon's about when you fight you must give it your all. He said "It's better to be judged by twelve then carried by six"

Here is an interview with Tamir Gilad

and Amnon Darsa

No, that is if you're cheap...

People have different absorptions rates of learning in varies methods, however it is known "full immersion" is most effective. Not only does the price include housing and board, but also online group support after the training.

I just bring this up because I watched an interview of a guy that was paid $30k to build an application similar to what he did in the boot camp.

Anyone here knows about interesting courses (besides regular language schools) to do anywhere in the world ? (outside Brazil)

I have around 10k (USD) and I don't have a specific time-limit.
I want to find out the best value for money opportunities out there.

Some background info:

1) It would be great to learn a new skill/job
2) I have EU passport , so I can work freely in Europe.
3) My favorite destinations : United States ,Montreal, France , Spain or Japan.

but its not necessary to be in one of those countries.

Any Ideas ?

I know that there are a ton of scuba diving schools in Thailand, many of which offer training all the way to instructor and commercial diver level.

Might not be a bad way to spend a few months.

Not to derail a good thread, but becoming a certified instructor in ANY legit combat sports after a month or two, even at 8 hours a day, is horse shit.

Take some classes in Argentina on how to master meat on the grill. They're known for their consumption of red meat from the fire.

That's something on my bucket list.

Never thought of that, but sounds like a great thing to do if I make it there ever.

get an undergraduate degree from the University of Buenos Aires for USD100, or a masters degree from USD2000 - USD7000

the UBA School of Economics post-graduate school just built a brand-new building which is as nice as any US university , just with 10x hotter girls and a more beautiful, cheap, tranquil city

everything is accessible in buenos aires if u have the right attitude

No, I don't know yet, this is an idea that I had this year and I didn't make any research about it. And I would study French also, since I don't speak french. I am in my postgrad course (I will finish it in June) and I need to pay it all before start to save money to go abroad.

I agree with you that one cannot become an expert in a combat sport in a mere 2 months.

But Krav Maga is not a combat sport.

It is a easily teachable and learnable, fighting system with the purpose of neutralizing a threat as quickly and as aggressively as possible.

With that said: Krav Maga fighters have never had any luck in the MMA arena against an experienced well rounded MMA fighter.

Cheers

P.S. I didn't post that for the krav maga instructors course 4 years of experience in a Martial art or boxing is recommended.

historically, the UBA (university of buenos aires) has been the #1 rated university in latin america. however, recently a few universities in brazil and chile have overtaken them. still, when you compare the cost of an undergraduate/postgraduate degree there, the UBA is your best bet.

just make sure you know spanish. still, lots of reading material is in english and you will be the only westerner in your class.

heres a list of degrees offered: http://www.uba.ar/ingles/studying/underg...egrees.php

just to clarify: this isn't a "study abroad" bullshit. you're not paying 20k to your university in the states. you're paying 100 dollars per year if its undergraduate and lets say 2,000 per year if its a Masters Degree.

all you have to do is bring a legally-translated copy of your birth certificate, college degree/high school diploma to get it signed and verified. i didn't even get a student visa-- just paid 300 pesos twice when i overstayed my 3 months tourist visa.

then, with the money you save, start a business in argentina/united states and live here on income autopilot

You can learn sailing in Bretagne or in Corsica.

This association offers practical courses and is famous in France.

It's actually something I'm considering doing.
