I've always been curious about some of the smaller/mid size cities in the Midwest and Southwest United States where there are concentrations of Hispanics, particularly a lot of Hispanics who identify as "white".
El Paso, Texas for example is 80% Hispanic, and approximately 80% of this population also checks "white" in the census. Are these border Mexican Americans the Tex-Mex, light-skinned cousins to the more European-looking, tall, light-skinned Mexicans common in Sonora, Nuevo Leon, and other northern provinces of Old Mexico? Or, is it just a cultural tradition for indigenous Texas Mexicans to identify as white??
I'm also curious about the Mexican/Hispanic talent in San Antonio, Austin, Albuquerque/Santa Fe, Tucson, Oklahoma City, Kansas, and various border towns across TX, NM, AZ and CA?? These are more chill small/mid size cities surrounded by interesting scenery and are regarded as very conservative areas, socially conservative whites, hispanics and native American Indians. Good places to snipe reasonably attractive, young, wife-able Latinas? Good places to settle down once you have a (Mexican) wife?
