It's really expensive compared to the rest of Brazil, but really safe with the amenities of a big city. If you go there for a short trip, don't make it all about women because you will probably leave a little disappointed. Overall, in Floripa, learning the language and making a solid social circle with the locals is necessary to kill it with women.
Oh, and girls from Floripa on average are the hottest girls in the country, potentially the entire continent.

I visited Floripa and for a week or so. They have a high German/ Italian population and indeed, this is where Rio folks come for their blondes. Also this is where I was told Brazilians go to the beach. "The rest of the world goes to Rio, Brazilians go to Floripa..."
