Travel Insurance Recommendations?

Anyone here use travel insurance and have any recommendations?
I looked up a bunch of companies, world nomads, sta travel insurance, accessamerica, travelex, medex, travelguard, etc but none of them have positive reviews. Can't say if this means they are good companies or not though.
Thanks.

Am curious about this as well - both health insurance, and insurance for "stuff" like electronics. Anyone have recommendations for either?

I use world nomads and have no complaints. I keep my health insurance but it (my health ins) doesn't cover certain things outside of the country that world nomads does..such as medical flights back to the U.S. should I become seriously ill.
I haven't had to file a claim with them but I did extend my coverage once and then a few days into the coverage cut my trip short. They refunded me the entire extended period even though I was a few days into the period and according to their policy I was not eligible for a refund.
A few positives about world nomads is they make it easy to extend your coverage, easy to get in touch with someone, and easy to access all your information online.
Bottom line though is that insurance companies are in the business to make money so you're rarely going to find one that has all around positive reviews.

What do guys do when they're abroad for extended periods of time? Get local health insurance, or just do travel insurance long term?

If you have a good credit card they usually include a more than adequate travel insurance. Especially those ties to Frequent Flyet programs.
Course, you have to pay the actual trip with the card for it to work.

I wish I would have had travel insurance for my trip to Thailand. Only 1 week in i've lost gopro with lcd screen with 32gb extreme card. I also lost 1k baht on khao san road and I booked 2 nights at a hotel in Krabi and I wasn't able to make it so I paid $80 for no reason.
Not sure if travel insurance would've have covered all of that but I think it would have cost me about $100 or less for my trip and I have already lost about $600 and I still got a few weeks left!!!!!!

So the recommendations are World Nomads, and Ingle/I.M.G. Thanks guys, will look into each and report back.
What about insurance for things/stuff, like electronics and high-end clothing, etc.? Anyone gotten such insurance, and had any experiences with claims?
