Just had an altercation with a police officer
07-27-2017, 11:56 PM
A cop's daughter pulled out of a parking space as I was walking behind. I slapped the back of the vehicle as I was getting out of the way and she pops out and starts screaming at me for hitting her car. Can you imagine? I called her a moron and she threatened to have her cop father come after me. He did.
Unfortunately I don't have any witnesses or video of the event or the cop's rant against me but he's threatening to "watch me closely" and "I better hope I don't screw up."
Anyone know my next move?

Have a drink and go to bed.
If you're super-duper worried, watch your speeding for the next few days, and maybe put a recorder on your cell phone.
Sounds like an event that must have been pretty intense, but I don't think there's much to worry about.

She literally ran you over (almost). If anything she is liable. Tell them both to get fucked.

Was the daughter hot? Did you get her number? A chick with a tough father is probably looking for a real man. That's the way to turn this situation into a win.
On the other hand, it she's not hot, see if she has a hot sister, or a friend.

A few questions:
1. Why did you stay long enough for her dad to show up?
2. Did she know your name? How did the cop, "come find you" ?
There are some details missing from this story.

OP, did the cop come to your residence on or off duty? Or was he there with his daughter when this happened? Are you 100% sure he's a cop? He could be a lawyer or some bullshitter just trying to act tough for his daughter. If she got your plate number and he tracked you down via that, it's safe to assume he is a cop.
Let's assume for a second you live in the city where he works as a cop. Head to your police department's front desk. Ask to speak to the watch commander on duty. Tell him in detail the events that's transpired. If you're in a small or mid size city they should know who he is right away. If you're in a big city or a county with a sheriff's department, well, they may not follow up, but at least it will be on the front desk log books what you were there about. Talk to the front desk cadet, or whoever it is and make sure it's documented you were there. Also, before you go write down sooner rather than later (for your own memory) what both he and his daughter looked like, their cars, what they were wearing, sound of voice, etc etc. Be as descriptive as you can.
Again, assuming it's a smaller department, if there's no evidence, it's your word against his. They will most likely take his side, but it will still be handed to internal affairs and should be enough to get him to back off once he gets wind of it.

You knew a police officer was coming over to use his authority in a private matter but chose not to prepare some kind of recording? Just turning on video recording on your phone and popping it in your breast pocket would have sufficed.
This is generally the first thing to do when entering ANY situation that might become a legal matter. Just start vid recording. Not just for keeping the record but it's amazing how much more level headed a person will stay knowing they are recording.

You have 1,919 posts on RVF and expect her not to twist the details of the story to make her sound like an innocent victim?

Any chance you got any identifying info from him? Surname or Car number etc? Surely attending your local cop shop & telling your story (& definitely having it logged, i.e. getting an incident number or some such) would help at this stage. At least your version of the events would be recorded.
Just a start.
Also, was he a fat, dysfunctional human or did he look like he had his shit together? The chubby 5 is leaning me to the former.

Never share details with fucking fruit loops. Give them two middle fingers if you must and walk the fuck on.
God forbid you find yourself in that situation with the cop at your door on a personal issue then likely the only thing that will back him off (other than getting on your knees and virtually blowing him) will be to tell him "my Dad's best friend is a lawyer, so go ahead, make me rich and get yourself fired in the process."
CS, you need to become VERY familiar with streaming recordings straight to a cloud server, and you need to learn this stuff fast. You've fucked up on several levels already and you know that, so I'm not going to rub it in, but personally I would be filing a complaint against this guy with full details ASAP.
If he pulls you over tomorrow and there's no paper trail then he could cut you down, dump a knife in your hand and call it day. There's just no telling how fucking psychotic some of these roid-monkeys are.
If he comes back to your house tell him that unless he's there on official business then he needs to leave, and that you're calling 911. He might laugh at the idea of you calling the cops when he's on your doorstep but if you follow through then he's likely to turn a very sickly shade of yellow.
You're already too late to concern yourself with systemic abuse by the entire department. From here forward you have to do things by the book, and at least if he/they continue to act like assholes then you'll get your day in court and maybe a huge payout. This is America after all.
p.s. Find a Jew lawyer and find one now. You need a number to call if shit gets ugly. Memorise it, too. It might become the most important line of digits in your life.

Vicious is right on the recording issue. On my phone I use an app called Call Recorder - ACR, it's from NLL.
However, the real question is why it even got to the stage where recording is needed. Why did you think it was a good idea to give your name and number and address? If someone's angry with me, the last thing I'm going to do is tell them where I live.
If you imagine this going the best way it possibly could, how would it have improved your life?

No offense CS, but unless you were hurt you should have called her a cunt and left.
Why did you think talking to her father was going to lead anywhere? This was a really stupid move and you're lucky the cop backed off. Don't let your ego run away like that.

Let's not clutter this thread with meaningless armchair quarterbacking about where he went wrong. The dude needs advice, not a rundown of his mistakes.
Stay OT. This is time sensitive.

Some cop talked shit to you when he was obviously livid. Thats literally the equivalent of when you get hammered at a nightclub and talk crap.
I wouldn't be the least bit concerned. Just proceed as usual. By the end of the weekend he and you should've long forgotten about it.

Ok, did you get his name at all? All you need to do tomorrow morning is go into the office and file a report.
His daughter almost ran you over, and he came to your home, and is now having his buddies harass you.

Best case this whole thing blows over and you each go your separate ways. Worst case he feels you wronged his daughter and threatened her (and he believes her). He will do whatever it takes to protect his daughter, and in that case he still may try and perform a legal maneuver on you. He was probably too hot to do something that same day coming home from work, but he has the next day to think about it and bounce ideas off his buddies.
Here is what you need to do- RIGHT NOW. Get out a pen and paper. Write everything down, from start to finish. Include all the details, every single bit. What you were wearing, the time of day, the weather, as much detail as you can throw in there. It is fresh right now.
As time passes, you will forget some of the details, and she will too. And since she made things up, she won't remember every little bit and soon inconsistencies will form in her story.
I have seen written notes in court, and they can be of great help, especially when the other side doesn't have any (they lose some credibility with their stories because they can't remember the details).
