IMO my opinion and just quickly hashing this out, the perfect mix of what to do with women now men have advanced the world with technology...

- Allow women to have an education. Hold them to the same standards as men. Which means a very tiny fraction of women would go on to get advanced degrees. And most of the top jobs would go to men based on fair competition. Instead today we have one set of standards for men and another for women, and then women still manage to fail.

- Do NOT allow women to vote. As a compromise they don't pay taxes. Without women voting in a liberal wasteful govt. to replace the need for men in their lives, the loss of tax revenue will be no concern.

Most women's top contribution to a society will be through nurturing. Which is either being a mommy, or being a teacher of young children, or a nurse. Take women out of this role and often times they just cause chaos.

My father was supporting a large family and bought a house in 1964 with a modest job. It would be impossible today.

I don't think social changes are a result of conspiracies. Instead, I think market forces (money) make people their unconscious agents. It's pretty easy for people who work for corporations and government to identify with their organizations and internalize values and then act accordingly.

Women consume a lot more than men. Go into any mall and note the ratio of stores catering to women and proportion of goods for sale. It's even more if you think women control the most significant household purchases in a marriage.

If you wanted to promote economic growth, defined as consumption, production and the resulting employment and wages, it makes sense to liberate women from their husbands' and fathers' control and give them their own spending money. Because they will spend it.

Of course, this consumption might be empty of moral values, like Imelda Marcos's shoe collection. It might even be polluting the planet, but it does provide jobs and further spending power for shoemakers, tanners, etc.

Recently a female teacher (37 year old British woman who is single with no kids who had taught in Thailand for one year already) was supposed to start work at a school I was at. She was hired right before school vacation and as the school year was a week away from starting the school owner contacted her to talk to her about preparing for her classes as she needed to start work soon. She doesn't get back to him for a couple days. Eventually she sends an email which she wrote, "I am sorry but I can't work for your school. All of my friends have just left Thailand. I feel the most alone I have ever felt in my whole life and I miss my family and friends. Honestly the thought of staying in Thailand even another day makes me physically sick."

Ha! Hong Kong isn't even really that hard for women in terms of dating. The city has a vibrant, international feel and is full of highly accomplished and financially successful men.
