Thieves in the club

I was just out with some people from my class. Sitting down on some benches some guy just snuck in like he wanted to sit there looking normal and all. I noticed he started stealing shit mainly from the girls' bags. He took a girls iphone and just gave it to me. Stole some money, smokes and some other small shit.

I was just going along with the act, but though after a few minutes he's stealing from the people I'm here with fuck that so I just told one of the bouncers and he was kicked out.

This was unsual for me, as I'm the type who feels it's people's own responsibility to keep their shit safe.
Only downside to the whole thing is the bouncers wanted to talk to me for a few minutes, wasting my time.

How would you react in such a situation? I know for a fact that if he was stealing from strangers I wouldn't care, and would probably have kept the iphone.

I had a similar situation where some shifty fellows were going to steal some electronics from an outdoor church service I was at. I was talking to two girls and saw them in the back of my eye move towards a table with iPads on it (for signing up for mailing lists and what not). I looked at them and said, "You guys planning on signing up for a bible study?"

Needless to say, these shifty guys mumbled something and left.

Just call him out and let the bouncer know. That shit isn't cool. Bad karma.

I'm confused…are you condoning stealing as if it happens it's the victim's fault for not adequately securing their stuff?

I hope not because that's a shitty attitude in my opinion.

No, I don't condone it, but I don't get involved even if I was in a position to do something. It's just how I operate. I am a very selfish person I'll admit.

So basically, if you blatantly see someone stealing from people who are near you, "you're cool with that" and will even accept some of the stolen goods for yourself.....but you draw the line when someone starts stealing from people you know who are sitting next to you....."that's just how you operate"....

Good to see a newbee joining the Forum who has such high moral standards of conduct.....

I don't condone that nonsense around me. If you're going to be a turd do it somewhere else. Things like that mess with my vibe.

I don't care about people who are near me, he can steal their shit if he wants, I'm not getting involved, it's only after I noticed he was stealing shit from people I was with.

I'm there to have a good time, not be the fucking police, also the "Stolen goods" I accepted I was planning on giving back to whoever owned it, and I did. If I refused it he would have left with it.

The other option is to call the guy out, possibly get into a fight and then also be kicked out. Nah, I'd rather get girls than run the police department for free.

He doesn't sound like a very good thief if he gave you the iphone.... it was prally the most valuable thing in her purse.

So you don't give a shit about this guy stealing and then try to rationalise away the incoming flames you will get by stating you will be a good boy and give them back?

haha, ok then. I'm sure some seasoned posters will call you out soon enough.

Why are you trying to backpedal now?

You already said if you hadnt known the girl you would have kept the stolen phone.

Can you read english? The guy gave me an iphone belonging to somebody in my class, you think I'm gonna let him keep it? The first thing I did was give it back.

And what are you talking about me being "called out". On what exactly? The fact that I don't care about strangers losing their shit to a thief and not getting involved? I'm only gonna do shit for people I know, not strangers.

I'm not backpedalling though, I would have kept the iphone in that case yes. If someone gave me an iphone and the owner was nowhere to be seen I'd keep it, better than just leaving it on a table.

It's the fact that initially you said you went along with it…you accepted the iPhone.

Most people would react the instant they saw someone rifling through friends' bags.

6 of your 9 threads are in the Newbie forum and you seem to have a shitty attitude.

Maybe you should do a little more reading and a little less posting on here till you have something to contribute.

No, I accepted the iphone before I even realized who's it was, only a few seconds later I realize it's from my people so I kept it.

I was in no way taking part in his activities, I was just playing it cool. The other option would be to just fuck him up but that would ruin my night.

You seem a bit too laid back if you're going to sit there and allow someone to go through your friends stuff, steal it and hand it to you. If I go out with a group of friends I'm typically not going to leave things of value laying out but if I happen to leave my Zippo or phone on a table and someone tries to steal it I would hope that one of my friends would clock the guy or at the very least shoo him away.

Not sure if these are casual aqcuantances of yours or what but in my opinion its not white knighting to protect your friends shit. I would be pretty pissed at you that you didn't step in. There's no running to the bouncer telling on the guy you don't necessarily have to get physical but at least be like dude wtf do you think your doing?

YOu don't have to fuck someone up but at least be assertive and let it be known someone isn't going to steal from my friends in front of me.

Yes it is. Maybe I didn't word it correctly, but what I was trying to say was I was just keeping it cool to avoid a scenario that would end with me being kicked out of the club.

Personally I like the old-school attitude where someone shouts "Stop! Thief!" and everyone gets the guy. It takes a village to stop assholes from acting with impunity. Yell "Hey, he's stealing that phone!" If you can do it safely, jump on him and hold him until the cops get there. If you can't, get help from bystanders, take a surreptitious video of him, and/or tell the staff.

Don't randomly white knight, sure, don't endanger yourself getting involved in other people's business. But assholes get away with stuff too often for me not to want to help see them punished when I can.

I agree with you, but see I have a hard time controlling myself and if I were to go in his face I know 100% that it would end with fists. I was trying to avoid this first and foremost, because I have a history of escalating too fast and digging people in the head.

Yeah, what's you point? You see that as a shitty attitude? Good for you, I don't care really so that's that.

You and I are obviously very different, but just because I'm not like you doesn't mean I have a "shitty attitude".
