I already put this vid in my positive vibes thread, but it's probably cool enough to deserve its own thread anyway.

Did you guys know there is "hamster" version of this Volvo commercial?

Here it is:

I love it, but why are the trucks going backwards? To better demonstrate this dynamic steering? Or it's some kind of optical illusion because the car filming the scene is moving faster than them?

I'm not impressed. If the hamster can run a whole country, why wouldn't it be able to drive a fucking truck?

I think the trucks are not even there, infact it looks like CGI to me. Observe how the trucks are moving backwards, but the wheels are moving forwards.

Also would jean, at his age, even do something this scary, even wit ha safety harness ? Highly doubt it.

Trucks are going backwards so that if he falls, they won't run over him.

You beat me to it. Only reason for them to be going backwards, and at some speed.

That parody is fucking awesome hahahaa

In the video, the "steering" hamster is still controlled by the man behind the steer, who uses the carrot to seduce the hamster for its aim: to drive the truck. Great example of using bait to control hamsters, not only in game but in any aspect of life: the hamster's only option is to follow the leader.

That is due to aliasing.

They claim the trucks are backing up, but I find it hard to believe the tractor trailer could go that straight in reverse with next to no corrections.

I did note however that when he does the splits, only the straight truck moves over, which makes sense as that would be almost impossible to do with the trailer.

So who knows. Pretty cool vid none the less.

Yeah, I think that was the whole point of the vid. The steering is so good that corrections are unnoticeable.
