avoid Fresnillo and Jerez, although I like those two cities, it's just that those motherfucking zetas are in those cities and they have completely fucked up those cities. 8 years ago though, those cities were dam nice places to go get some nice girls. if you want to go to zacatecas city, then probably go there, since there would be more police there, or if you want to still stick in zacatecas, go to the southern parts, to a city called tlatenango. that place is alright, although you really need your spanish working if you want to get some there.

I will be going to Valparaiso, Zacatecas which is about an hour west of Fresnillo. My family is from there and they will be having a quince there. Hope all goes well.

In Chihuahua city now and haven't noticed any danger yet but I'll definitely report data once I get some more info in a month or 2... An American here who has been here 3 years said it was pretty bad when he first arrived but feels pretty safe now.

There was a massacre of 300 people in durango in 2011 I believe. Just for everyone's info. Also the taumalipas massacre of 200 people in 2011 also. I would still go to mexico just be aware that shit happens.

As for ass, definitely Dominicanas have much more on average. Mexican girls just don't have enough black in them on average, IMHO. There are plenty with respectable or even great asses, usually because they have a little black in them. But Dominicanas in general have killer bodies. Having said that, again you don't see the super hot Mexican girls in the US. They usually stay in Mexico. Believe me, there are PLENTY of fine Mexican girls in the cities and towns.

So apart from the fact that you might...
Get caught up in a bus massacre
Run into a bandit roadblock
Approach a narco's girlfriend
Get robbed by motorcycle riding gun-toting assholes
Break your leg in a pot hole
Get kidnapped
Get scammed by narcos
Fraternise in narco establishments -- nay whole towns

...Mexico is perfectly safe

Haha, you jokers! S'pose we all gotta die sometime...

Yes, but keep in mind Narcos generally don't target tourists. Why fuck with that source of money, since they own many of the businesses that benefit from tourism (hotels, casinos, etc). The main reason innocent people are killed is to have the federales interfere when a gang is outnumbered locally. Why kill tourists when you can kill mexicans for the same effect? But, yes to be the safest you should fly Directly to Mexico city or Cancun, skipping "dangerous" areas. And avoid hitting on lower class women in Mexican Barrios, my friend has heard of gringos getting murdered for dating chicks and didn't know they had a (narco?) boyfriend.

Dominican Republic is more dangerous, I believe. There are more random murders of tourists. But life is all about calculated risks. You calculate whether its worth commuting to work in a heavy storm even though there is a one in a 10,000 chance of an accident.

Interesting list of countried by homicide rate (you have to scroll down to the complete list by country). If you click on the arrows above the number of deaths it will arrange them from greatest to least. Mexico and DR are pretty high up there. DR is above Sudan!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cou...icide_rate

Still... 23.7 a year in Mexico (per 100k people). That equals 2370 in 100 years. Which means that out of 100,000 people who each live 100 years, 2370 will be murdered. Which means 97,630 will die of other causes.... So you can see that murder is still not a very likely thing to happen to you. Car accidents are much, much more likely to kill a person.

Having said that, I feel like a foreigner outside the all inclusives in DR is going to be higher than the national average chance of being killed. Is it still worth it? Up to each of us to decide. I would personally rather be fucking hot ass bitches with hot asses for years, and then one day somebody barges into my apartment and machetes me, than to be stuck in some shit job with a fat ungrateful wife and whiney kids and live many long miserable years... But, hey, we each have to pick our hell. For me, the thing that might make me leave DR for awhile has more to do with the everyday stress of being singled out as a Gringo/Tourist. Shit gets on my last nerves in a big big way. And the random annoying stupid shit people do here, like it's a stupidity competition sometimes.

Interesting figures Kavakid. When you take out the number of hitmen or people related to the drug business, the statistics should drop even more. Most of the killings are between hitmen and lookouts.

Right on with what you said about potentially dating a narcos girl. This might happen in high-class clubs too, especially Mexico City, Monterrey or Guadalajara. Especially Guadalajara since many narcos live there. It was reported a few days ago that two kids were murdered because they were fucking with a narcos kid.

Taking the bus to Monterrey tonight. Driving to mcallen now. The buses leave for Monterrey every 90 minutes. About a five hour trip so if I catch the 800 should be there around one. Probably stay at some cheap spot or at a buddys spot.

Wondering if I can hit the bars tonight or just wait till tomorrow. I fucked up by leaving so late. O well.

And its raining there.

Viva Mexico.

You can hit up the bars tonight, stay up all night, and sleep on the bus. Tear it up in Monterrey.

Just touched down. Got to the valley too late to get to Monterrey at a decent time. Bus ride is three hours from the border. Staying at the Wynnham in el centro. Classy ass fourstar spot. Expedia for 80 dollars. They were charing 140 at the hotel.

There are two spots that go hard tonight. Fresas though. Other than that everything looks good. Reminds me of LA near the bustation. Tags everywhere and shorter dark Mexicans. Didnt really see any talent worth hittin up but my boy got a number for a little cutie.

Ran into a cat who got deported last month. Lived in the States since he was a baby. Got a job doing pipework for the oilfield in Three Rivers. Got popped for a felony and now is in town. Seem cool. No accent whatsoever. I hate looking like a mark so I dont know if we will kick.

He said they be robbin people in that area. He hasnt been popped since he has been here but they be lookin at him. I think we are good though. Hit the strip for an hour or two then hit the Antros. Leaving tomorrow around three so have a little time for daygame and reconnect if I get some info.

Still go hard for the SNL. Game time baby.

"Robbin people in that area". What area is that?

Sounds like your bud is danger. Stay away from him and go your own way. Hit Centrito in Valle area or Recontra-Cantinita around the Tec area tonight.

In or near El Centro. Around the bus station.

Appreciate it. If I love the town, I might make it a monthly trip. I feel like a drone at home. Work all week with a little bit of night game then nightgame for the weekend. Need to get a few hobbies and get out this funk. I think I found a salsa partner to dance with a home.

Nothing is like being somewhere international even if it is just Mexico. Hopefully all is well here. I think I am good. Been here in 07 before the drugwar and loved it. Ready to enjoy the city and women again.

Wow. Went to the high class ballin area. Gucci and Louis Vatton stores across the street. Crazy vehicles parked outside. Got a few numbers. No SNL. My homeboy got a number with lipstick on it. She was working. Hopefully we get a few connects from these numbers.

Safety wise, once we got to the antro area, it was all kids. We were talking to two little bops. Come to find out they were 17 and 16. A year or two later they may be ready. Didnt feel neverous at all. I could imagine going to the hood spots or downtown to feel like the area would be a little seedy. We were talking to a bartender and he said shit happens there every so often. So far the trip is worth it. Just need to cut the cost a little more and I wouldnt mind making a monthly trip.

May post a mini trip thread or just bumped asother

Was chatting up this attractive but chunky Mexican bird at a BBQ party last night and she recommended Mexico City and along east coast with popular resorts on the Yucatan (Cancun and the rest). Stay away from the border towns and Monterrey is a bit iffy.

I'm not really sure what to think about the video....as in, how does this relate with the drug war?

Random "artists" bragging about how hard they are and wearing flat jackets on video? Oh trust me, they like to act hard and all....until they end up in a ditch and their mom is saying "but mijito is a good guy!". I'll admit, my hate for "el komander" runs deep (he pollutes mexican minds).

Narco corrido story lines are exaggerated on purpose for the most part. Nonetheless I like to listen to them, oldies like Los Tucanes and Los Tigres. The new guys like to talk about themselves á lá Rick Ross.

Oh yeah. "El Komander" is one crazy dude. I came across this video and really its the first time ive seen a narcocorrido be so explicit and direct. I saw in an interview that "El Komander" had recently and he said that he receives death threats almost daily from diffrent drug cartels, and he is always paranoid when hes performing in Mexico always demanding protection. Dude pisses his pants when someone tries to hire him outside of Sinaloa for a show.

That corrido is equal to a Rick Ross song, all hype. Narco firefights aren't like that anymore. It's just unemployed folks who can't shoot and drive stolen cars. The era of hardcore shooters with bazookas and B7 vehicles (presidential bulletproof level) was over 4 years ago.

The arrellanos are in jail, Juarez cartel family is dead, almost all of the 43 original zetas are in jail or dead, Beltran family is dead, la barbie in jail, and el chapo won. He's in poosy paradise bringing in colombian models.

Story of the day:
The corrido would've been legit if it was a decade ago when Los Zetas were getting in firefights with bazookas and bulletproof cars in...Nuevo Laredo, 2-3 miles right across the US. El chapo went to Nuevo Laredo, entered at a random restaurant, ate, paid for everyone's meals, and left...in broad daylight. Another time they came in 5 SUVs, broke into a prison and tried to rescue their leader. Shit was craaaazy back in the day, 2002-2007.

Cartels using Bazookas:
http://www.gangwar.com/blog/2005/07/mexi...-with.html

Soldiers using bazookas:
http://lubbockonline.com/stories/080203/...3073.shtml

Mexican newspaper "El Universal" had a lot of articles about this, I checked a year ago. Somehow they show on searches but when I click I get a 401 error.

I wouldn't be surprised, he sings about being a hitman. He probably thinks about Elizalde, signer who ended in a ditch, plenty of times during the day. You bring up a great point....as the guy was in Dallas a while back. He wore a "pechera" during the concert. Who knows why...he started throwing some pecheras at his fans.

Videos:

Local cops and Federales pull their guns on each other in Monterrey (this is why MTY was a no-zone a few years ago):

My favorite video. Narcos escaping on a suburban followed by Humvees...shootout follows a few secs later.

Shootout between narcos and soldiers live.
